The year is 2625, A.D. The galaxy, while once harboring life on only a single planet named Earth is now teeming with human immigrants, eager to begin life on planets artificially improved to support life by the latest technology.
You, however, are not so lucky. Once an Earth inhabitant, your property value began to plummet right around the time a nuclear bomb went off near it, courtesy of international conflict. Earth in shambles, salvation came in the form of Milky Way Systems, corporation extraordinaire. A fleet of space cruise liners landed, offering to give you a one-way trip to a newly-vitalized planet in a lonely branch of the galaxy. With everything but the clothes on your back in pieces, you had no choice to accept despite the request that you participate in a research program - as a test subject.
This morning, you awoke to find a note attached to your door.
ATTENTION RESIDENT: You have been assigned to a project involving the creation of limited supernatural abilities in humans. Please report to the sick bay at your earliest convenience.
This afternoon, you found yourself on the new planet, named (appropriately enough) Refuge. Surrounded by a week's worth of rations and a map to water and a weapon storage building, still somewhat weak from the sedatives you were given before the experiment, and unsure of what is around you, you know that whatever you may find, be it urban city or untamed wilderness, rocky shoreline or tranquil forest, your history matters not and you have nothing but yourself to rely on. And, there is still the matter of that feeling in the back of your mind that you now have some measure of power you did not have before...
