      REM and Consciousness. Need answers.

      Just wondering if anyone has the answer to the following questions:

      Apparently the brain is more active during REM than waking - I was wondering if anyone knows of any studies into this. Most importantly does anyone know what how more active the brain is, a percentage would be ideal.

      Second question...

      No idea if there is even an answer to this, but does anyone know what percentage of brain power consciousness uses? if there is such an answer even.

      I'm aware that the brain is a complex system, so im not even sure if the answers to these questions exist.

      But any help is appreciated.

      Well, I've just woken up and my brain is still half asleep right now but I do know that apparently the brain uses as many calories during REM as it does when it's awake
