Well, I used to be *Semi* proficient at it *DILD*, until the start of 08. But the first time I tried to WILD one week ago I did it! Haven't had much luck since then. I'm in my one hour period as we speak.
Wish me luck!
Two weeks and I had a lucid fragment. Took another two weeks before I had a really good one, though.
Paitience is necessary. Once you have one lucid dream, it should take significantly less time to have subsequent ones.
took me about 3 weeks for my first, then another 2 weeks untill my next.
It took me about 1 month and a half if i'm not mistaken.
It was pure luck as i only was trying to learn to WILD at the time and what i got was a DILD ramdonly.
Then i gave up on WILDing (no success at all) and started doing MILDs. Best thing i did, then i managed to get a lot of LDs (although they were short ones).
I also started doing some DEILD attempts (the play dead thing) and managed to succeed last night when i had an epic LD (it lasted about 30 minutes!!!), with 2 LD chained in sequence prolonging my initial MILD.
I agree with Abra. Once you get your first it gets easier to get more. They may be short but if you start stabilization techniques you get the hang of it.
I had my first lucid dream Feb. 8, 2009, about a month and a half after I learned about lucid dreaming. I became lucid from a false awakening and was lucid for about 5 to 10 seconds. A decent lucid dreaming didn't happen until April 14, 2009, my fourth lucid dream. None of my lucids have really been decent and most have come from FAs.
When I first learned of lucid dreaming it took me about a month to become lucid for about a second then I woke up. It was like that once a month for about 4-5 months till two weeks ago, when I started keeping a DJ and visiting this site, I had a lucid where I didn't wake up immediately. Then exactly one week after that I had about 5 in one night using the DEILD method.
after my first accidental LD it took me about a month to have my next one, after that I have them several times a week.
It took me about three months as well, from when I started to try to when I had my first one. After I had my first few, though, they happen more and more often, now about once a week.
I lucid dreamt abotu a week or less afterI first researched. but that was just the first time thing. Then it took forever and Ig ave up for a year, got back into it and had another one after about a week of researching again, then I had another better one a few days ago. My dream skill is starting to go up a lot quicker now.
After my brother told me (just that you can control them, nothing else), to get my first induced it took me 8 years, with some natural ones in between.
I had my first intentional one the very night that i found this site and so far that has been my best ever. felt like it was hours and i had compleat control over everything. I have never gotten one that good ever since but I am still trying
took me about a month as well I think. Since losing my focus on it all though, I haven't had one for quite a while! It's a lot of work to achieve the first one but it's even more important to keep at it if you want to keep having them! It's so easy to lose the ability if you stop trying for a while...
I have been having lucid dreams throughout my whole life, so ive learned.
But when i first joined this site i thought a lucid was only attained by the means of the WILD technique. Also i thought that a lucid was when you had complete control over EVERYTHING.
But after a while i kinda figured things out.
Once I understood that you had to be sleeping during the process, it took me about 2 weeks to get my first one.
My first intentional lucid dream was about a day after joining the site. =]
It took me about 2 days after learning about lucid dreaming, then I had them about every 2-3 days. Its normally that good when my dream recall is good but lately it hasn't been, and the lucid dreams I have been getting suck.
it took me 2 months after coming on to this site. i had a couple of natural ones here and there throughout my life though.
I had my first DILD two weeks after I joined, I woke up though. I'm still working in a full one.
I heard about it first, but didn't attempt, since I thought I'd never do it and got scared and stuff :/.
Then I heard about it again, and said "Why don't I attempt?" It took me one week :D for my first one and the second one about 4 days :)
well i joined dv on the 14 but found the site on the 6th, had my first ld on the 17th so 10 days after finding out, then another one 3 days later.
I learned about LDing some time in middle school, but I know I had my first one within a week of learning about it.
I've had ld's my hole life. I can't remember many, but i just thought everyone had them randomly until i finally wanted to know how to get more of them.
And for me, i've had more lucid dreams in the last 2 monthes then i have in the last 2 years.
I think it took only a few weeks. The amount i had was synonymous with the effort i put in :)
after first discovering this forum and lucid dreaming, i had my first LD on the third night. but i've always had decent recall, and i read a lot of posts on this forum every night before bed. i only tend to get them every few weeks now though...:(
