Are we suggestible while in a lucid dream?

In the same way as we would be when we're being hypnotised, falling asleep etc?

Probably. A DC got me non-lucid just by telling me that it wasn't a dream.

As far as Neuro-Linguistic Programming is concerned, I know that embedded commands works solely because they bypass conscious awareness only to make their way to the unconscious mind. Therefore when I say...

"Do not think about a black cat"

...you automatically think about a black cat. It works because you have to THINK about what you're being told what NOT to think about. In addition to that, our unconscious mind cannot process negatives. Therefore although I said...

"Do not think about a black cat"

Your unconscious mind interpreted it as...

      "Think about a black cat"

Wonderful how that works, no? Seeing as a lucid dream is nothing more than our conscious mind playing in our subconscious projected world...in theory, I don't see why it would be difficult to "hypnotize" oneself from the inside out
Things are not as they seem

I loved the way for years I had been making affirmations and setting goals in my life that were negative and read a simple tip stating they should be positive. I'm wondering how many people realise it's important to make affirmations positive?

For example, the other day when I was making an affirmation about remembering my dreams I worded it thus: "I will wake up, not move, not open my eyes, and remember my dream."

Of course, it should be stated: "I will wake up, keep still my body, keep my eyes shut, and remember a dream."

Its just like working with little children. You cant say "Dont touch the ________" because all kids hear is "touch the _________".

When in a dream say something like "Oh, think about a white cat" instead of saying "Dont think about a black cat." Or whatever it is you want to not think about. Just come up with something different. A more real and personal thought would be "Oh my god, don't wake up right now!" in which your mind tries to wake up. Instead, say "Oh my, look at how vivid i am in this dream and how wonderful it is to be lucid" never saying anything such as waking up.

The mind can be auto suggested into many things. That is pretty much how you get any control whatsoever. You just have to believe it will happen, because it will.

I suppose it depends on how open you are to suggestions, and what suggestions you use. As the three posters above me state, you will want to go for positive suggestions.

I got rid of my anxiety by doing this. The suggestion I gave myself while lucid dreaming was "I will be happy and anxiety free." Hey, it worked!

I know what you mean! I was doing the same thing and then when I tried to start doing "positive" ones, I had a really hard time at first. It seems like, at least for me, it's easier to focus on what I DON'T want than what I WANT.
