Something ive noticed in LD's

I just woke from a LD. I've been noticing something strange and i wanted to post this to see if anyone else ever notices this.

DO you ever notice that when your walking in a dream, you get from point A to point B alot more quickly than you would in real life? Like in the dream you are inside a huge building, you want to walk from one side to the other, after you start walking, just a few seconds go by and your already at the other end of the building. I actually never notice this until i wake up and recall the dream. This happens more often in regular dreams, but it sometimes happens in my lucids also.

I notice this in NLs.

I get this stuff too, but I don't think we are the only ones. It would be logic for dreams to not abide by the laws of reality. Your mind just simply doesn't care about the distance and stuff, it focuses only on the main objectives of your dream.

so we can use this as a dreamsign to get lucid.
when you find yourself going very quickly from A to B. you should realize that you're dreaming. :banana:

I think that this happens to everyone to some degree or another. When I first started to LD, I used this as a sort of "variant mode" of transportation (because my teleportation skills were...well...crap).

I get this stuff too, but I don't think we are the only ones. It would be logic for dreams to not abide by the laws of reality. Your mind just simply doesn't care about the distance and stuff, it focuses only on the main objectives of your dream.

no. unfortunately this 'skipping' happens when we don't pay attention to mundane details like traversing distances. you can't pay attention to not paying attention. it's done by the brain to save energy (or indeed just cause the brain is lazy :) ), and is related to my dream optimization theory

This is how dream dilation could be implemented. By 'skipping' out the boring bits.

Yes, I've noticed that dreams quickly change. Sometimes it can be a little annoying when you wake up and realize that you didn't notice it. It could be that the brain just has so much to get to that it's sort of compressing the experience so it has time to process everything it needs to.

I think of dreams as sort of a hard drive defrag for the mind. It's skipping what it deems to be irrelevant details.
