Newbie..feel free to comment!

Hi Everyone...
Im new to the site...but i guess you all probably know that haha...
i came across this website because i have the gift to dream...which is what i call it lol I didnt know that what i could do had a name, so when i stumbled across lucid dreaming on wikipedia...i was like hey i can do that!!
Anyway...lately i have been having vivid dreams...very very very vivid...ive always been a dreamer..since i was a kid...and i loved to dream because i was able to control everything in it....but lately they have been so real feeling..that when i wake up, i am so confused..and am convinced they have happened. These dreams arent lucid..they are just so extremely real it freaks me out. i am able to recall everything, and last night, went back into the dream 6 times...(woke up 6 times and then went right back into the dream at the same spot as i left off) Is there names for these things? ive only come across the term lucid dreaming.
Also, i have always had a weird gift to dream the near future. nothing intense...but little things. is this all in my head?
one last thing...i am on anti depressants to treat anxiety..and i was wodnering if they can influence dreaming?? because of the seratonin?
any ideas??

Hi Melissity! Welcome to Dream Views! I am also a newbie but can tell you their are names for a lot of stuff like that. Again, I am also a newbie so I cannot give you the exact name of those. Look around the site! It might be hard for you to understand that normally people cannot Lucid Dream naturally and why it is so hard for us. Maybe you'll be able to understand it. Anyway About the dreaming in the future, I have done that too. I am not sure if it is normal or not. About the anti depressants, can you tell us what the ingredients in it are? I hope a experienced dreamer can come and help us both out! Anyway Welcome!

any ideas??This can sometimes affect dreams and dreaming. I would suggest that if you can, to go off of them. If you can't, then you can learn to work around the meds.

Common abbreviations:
DV- Dream Views, our wonderful site on lucid dreaming!
LD- Lucid Dreaming
RC- Reality check, when one does an action to test whether or not they're dreaming.
DC- Dream character, anyone in your dream
FA- false awakening, when one thinks that they've woken up, but they are really just dreaming that they've woken up
DJ- Dream Journal, a record of one's dreams (If you don't have one, start one! It is probably the most valuable tool that a dreamer can have!)
There are probably others, but my brain is far too fried to remember them all.

For more information, visit the tutorial section of the site. It's a great resource for both newcomers to LDing (which means lucid dreaming)and veterans. Feel free to post any questions that you have. We will be more than willing to answer your questions!

wow, i didnt know there were so many different terms...im really intrigued. If i understand lucid dreaming correctly...then i think i do it all the time?? Most of the time if i dont like my dream, (if im not controlling it) i just tell myself to wake up, and i do. im always aware that i am dreaming...i usually put myself into it, or change the dream, which ever...is that lucid dreaming?

your a lucky one :) most of us on this forum discuss easier ways of doing what you do on your own lol. You should write some of your lucid dreams in the lucid experiences section and there is always tasks ever month as you can probably see, there fun to do if you can remember to do them in your dream. Anyways welcome :D
