Whenever I become lucid, I always feel like I'm being timed. Like I must do something before I wake up. I do things frantically, other then doing them calmly and with ease. That might explain why I always wake up like a minute into my lucids. But does anyone else have that feeling?
Like you need to do something before you by chance might wake up at any second? It annoys the heck out of me!! :furious:
Absolutely. The only times I've not felt rushed is when I take the time to feel the dream world. When I do that, I can slow down. Otherwise, the moment Im lucid its like a gun going off at the races. Go go go! But the higher the lucidity the less I need to move. It does help maintain the dream though.
It doesn't annoy me though. It would if my lucid dreams were all short. I've had very long lucid dreams where I've been running almost the whole time. But who would mind running if you never get tired?
Yeah, when I first get lucid, I'm really excited. So, next time I'll try to stay still and examine the dream world. I'll see if that helps. Thanks. :]
Well, I don't do things in a "frantic, panicky" way, but I do realize that my LD probably won't last that long, so I try to do things in a fairly quick manner.
Both of my LDs have been pretty rushed (but still lasting a few mintues). Usually they are rushed becasue I freak out in the middle and I wake up. Or most of the time, i'm going into a LD and my alarm clock goes off.
I've only had one LD, but once I was certain that I was dreaming, I definitely felt that. Summon girl and go to fuck her was my thought process.
yeah- the paradox is that by feeling this rushed feeling you actually shorten the dream. Here is a quote from my article on how I overcome it

I sometimes "practice" my emotional response to finding out I'm in a dream- just as astronauts require training prior to space and spend time practicing each and every motion in large swimming pools, so should oneironaughts practice before dreams- Stand in a room, try to imagine realizing you are in a dream- what goes on through your head? is it "LOLZ ZOMG i'm dreaming!" or is it "oh cool I'm dreaming, ok dream goals...", try walking around and getting used to the feeling of being in a dream- this might be tricky though if you have never actually been in one- you might want to imagine you've just discovered you are "the one" in the matrix. Walk around, think of stuff to do- simple stuff, and get used to your emotions. The overall process can last anywhere from 30 seconds to several minutes.
definetly. I am aware that I could lose my lucidity or wake up at any second. This isn't good either, because it could actually make you wake up sooner, or put the idea in your head to.
Mmm, that is a good idea. Maybe, if one wanted to get rid of this rushed feeling, they could make their reality check 'routine' go along the lines of 'become aware of surroundings, RC, then breathe (calm down/don't give into amazement)'.Quote:

my few lds have been like this. mainly, i think LD, must sex. then i get overexcited and dont even get to have realistic sex.
I had the frantic, panicky thing going on last night. I was like, "OMG, I'm totally dreaming! Woohoo! Okay, I gotta spin, NOW! But I can't, 'cuz I'm laying down, and I don't have time to stand up, so I think I'll just make it so I'm standing now and here we go, with the spinning." It was kinda frantic and chaotic...gotta work on it, for sure.
Every time. I'm just now learning to overcome it. I guess it's just a matter of experience, you just learn to control it over time.
When I first started having LD's, I would just use it to wake myself up from nightmares. Eventually I had LD's in nice dreams, but I always felt like I was about to wake up. Oftentimes, I'd just have an FA, which goes to show that feeling is really just in your head.
Instead of rushing around trying to do dream goals, (which I have done many times), have an attitude of curiosity and exploration about the dream world. What works for me is walking slowly, looking around and touching things.
Something else I do, is sit down and meditate (in a dream), or sit in a chair in a dream, and just look around. Don't worry about boredom. See how long you can just sit in one place, and look around at the dreamscape. Then, get up, and take a stroll, looking around taking everything in. Don't worry about flying or anything else. Just enjoy the dream, how it looks, what you hear, how things feel, what you smell.
This will help prolong the dream, which is what you need right now more than dream control.
