      Combining different settings in dreams

Sometimes I have dreams where I'm in a room, but it resembles a totally different room.

For example, I'm in school but I'm also at home. It's really weird. Like, my classroom will look like my classroom, but it's in the same shape as my bedroom and it looks exactly like my bedroom, but I think it's my classroom. And when I walk out of my classroom/bedroom instead of seeing the school hallways, I see my house hallways. In the dream I think nothing of this, it's perfectly normal. But when I wake up I think to myself how weird that was. That's just an example.

Has anybody else experienced this? Please share some experiences. I imagine it's common since that has happened to me many times.

A common thing that happens to me in my dreams is the mixing of people. There will be a dream character there that is someone I know but it looks nothing like them. For example, in the first non-lucid I flew in my father was there but he looked like Denzel Washington. I've also experienced the mixing of settings too, like, for another example, when I was in the sixth grade I would always dream about a street in my town that merged with a street near my dads house that is over 1000 miles away. They were just the same street simultaneaously. This could be a useful dreamsign for me...

That's very common-- happens to me all the time. My guess would be that such place confusion is caused by the same mechanism that makes the sudden appearance of aliens dressed like your grandmother perfectly acceptable in dreams.

I'd say that's very common. I often have dreams where I am at home, but the house has features that either don't exist at all in reality, or are actually from another house that I know, like my parents'.

Yep. It's not uncommon for me to dream of being in a place familiar to me and believing that it's another entirely different place. That's when you wake up and kick yourself for not noticing. Combining people also happens a lot, although most of my DCs are ppl that I don't know when I wake up. The brain/subconscious are very interesting things.

Whats really strange is when you have a dream person who is two people at the same time, not mixed. I have had that happen a few times before. Like every time you talk to them, they are a different person but you remeber the person to be the same one as before. Like you see your brother flying around then he lands and now hes your mother and you go "why where you flying around?". Never thinking its a different person.

I haven't experianced mixing of places yet, but I have experianced where I am in some place and in the dream I totaly think it is say... my friends house and I have a stong memory that it is his house but when I think about the details it is nothing like his house and it is in a different place. I say that it isn't mixing because the different details are not ones from anything else, they just dont exist.

I get something similar i suppose like that alot......

Used to have a recurring dream when I was younger, and It was about some lizardmen keeping lots of people i know from school in a prison, which was pretty much like it, with vents leading between rooms etc....

Had one recently too which maybe fits the mixing a little more....

There was a pantomime about to start, and in the foyer at work (its a supermarket) we were selling tickets to see the show... and id go through to the projection room which was my office at work, and there was a projector pointing out of the wall (its an outside wall) with the theatre like area just through the wall, kinda looked like it went into the ground a bit, not to mention 2 traintracks run right through it

Seems to be common with alot of people then
      Hmm... YES!
