      Dream Recall Mantra

      Hello all,

I have recently, re discovered a mantra I would practice to help dream recall when I took an on-line OBE course. The mantra is RAOM GAOM..pronounced RAH-OHM GAH-OHM but drawn out. I found it on yahoo video under RAOM GAOM a mantra to remember dreams. I watched the video of a group of people reciting this mantra over and over. Although your supposed to do this upon awakening I did it well before sleep. That night I had four dreams of which I recalled, pretty rare for me. One was very vivid, in which I caught myself actually questioning my surroundings, as though things did not make sense haven't done that before!! unfortunately I was unable to become lucid.
Has anyone ever used this mantra? anyone else have success??
I've also noticed that I tend to hit dry spells from time to time with my dream recall....damn it's frustrating!! I think little sleep and alcohol may play a factor.
      Cheers

Check out the MILD method, which utilizes mantras.

I'm a MILDer, and yes, I use mantras. However, they consist of simple phrases such as, "I AM dreaming" or "I WILL remember my dreams." Anything can be a mantra, though, as long as you're able to pack enough meaning behind it and truly believe it will help. I don't think there's anything mystical or especially powerful about the mantra you cited, though. My guess is that your stellar dream recall came about because you expected the mantra to work.

I also notice that my dream recall drops to virtually nothing whenever I don't get enough sleep. I recommend getting at least a solid 7 hours.

Yeah I'm not really into the whole metaphysical stuff, I kind of find it a turn off. I agree that practicing the mantras just solidify your desire for a result, especially if you believe it yeilds some desired outcome.
