It'll happen on occasion.
If I understand correctly, Sleep Paralysis happens every night. Your brain releases a natural hormone that paralyses you so you don't move around in your sleep. But it only becomes sleep paralysis if your mind wakes up while your body still has the hormone coursing through it. It takes a minute or so to wear off.
I think it would be more common if you're trying to WILD. But that's just me...

There are two categories of LD induction techniques:
DILD - become lucid while already in dream - (while in unconscious SP)
WILD - straight from waking to (lucid) dreaming - (consciously go into SP)
During a WILD, you experience your body falling asleep, and thus you consciously go into sleep paralysis. Everybody goes into sleep paralysis when sleeping, it's just that you normally are unconscious.
Actually sometimes I fall alseep very quickly (within minutes) if I'm tired enough, but most of the time it can take me half an hr to fall asleep. If I'm comfortable enough, I can enter SP. It's quite regular for me, but never took thought of it before coming here. I thought the HH/HI was jsut be being really tired
So even though I'm not trying to LD, I can still go into SP only because my body thinks I'm sleeping when I really haven't yet
SP happens whether you LD or not
