      Dream Characters

i'm new to the forum and this site...wow...lots of stuff here...i've been pretty much doing this solo so it's nice to have others to relate to....an interesting phenomenon to me is that when i meet people in lucid dreams, (dream characters as i call them), i have found that in my dreams they have certain qualities. one being that if i ask them a question directly, such as, "are you a dream character?" they will never lie...though they may be evasive and not answer....sometimes they will admit to it...anyone else notice anything about them?

I only have very intense eye-contact with my DC's. I almost never talk to them, so I also don't ask them questions.
I read that many people can learn things from their DC's, maybe I should try to ask them things.
Sounds interesting that they never lie to you Barry, try to ask them things which you realy need to know, but maybe never asked because the answer can be dissapointing. That's what I would do.
Longterm Goal: Be a master of my dreams

interesting idea...i've never asked them any of the 'big' questions and don't know if they have access to the greater truths of the universe...i've only asked things relating to the experience i was having in the dream...hmmmm...what would i like to know? ...

You give them eye contact? I never seem to be able to do that...when I look at like anything in any of my dreams, it's always a perpheral vision kinda thing, though it can be very vivid.

DCs are actually what they are called.
If you see a strange typo in my post, blame my iPad for that.

In the LDs I've had, my DCs usually appear in a sort of third person fashion to me. I can look around, but if I look at them, it'll be as if I'm looking at someone else talk to them, not me. Sometimes I have conversations with them, but it's usually about unimportant stuff.

      Kind of a blather, really.

The only thing out of the ordinary about my DCs is that they generally freak out when I become lucid. I mean it, like, totally flip out. On a crazy scale, they hit a 20 out of 5. In my first lucid dream ever, when I became lucid, they became violent, screaming at me, clawing at my arms in an attempt to get my attention.

After that dream though, they still try to get my attention, but no longer in such a savage manner. Now it's more like trying to dominate a conversation. I always thought it was kind of creepy that way, like it hurts them to become lucid. I never understood why.

I wonder if it's possible making friendship with the DCs, so we can ask them to advice we are dreaming every time they see us. Or coming along to share the scary and freak things... ah, I gotta have LDs fast :[

well I guess you could consider a DG a DC you've made friends with. And unless those don't count, a lot of people talk to and interact with DCs.

Yeah, awakening. what you're talking about is a DG, or Dream Guide. There's a great tutorial on them in the Lucid Experiences forum. everyone has one of them, not everyone finds theirs... Some people even find more than 1 of theirs.

think of it as a manifestation of the subconscious, meaning it's not really a typical DC. it is a character your mind made as a kind of gateway to the 85% of unconscious brain just sitting around there.
