      Calling Artists and Writers!

I was wondering how many of you out there use Lucid Dreaming for creative purposes? I've noticed a fair few of you seem to be into drawing in some form, have you ever done artworks that were inspired from your dreams?

I'm writing a novel at the moment (I write alot, and play guitar) and when I heard about Lucid Dreaming I was like "Wow this will be so cool". My main motivation to pursue Lucid Dreaming would be to enter my own dreamworlds as a character from my book, and therefore experience waht they are experiencing and get fresh ideas, and add more detail to my storyline... Perhaps even cure writer's block forever- the possiblilities are endless!

Do any of you guys use lucid dreams for creative inspiration, and if so, what are your experiences with it? Curious to know...

I am writing a little also. I am working with my first book wich is in my native language; Norwegian. Some scenes in the book is of nightmares I have had, because I am trying to write a scary book.
      Are you dreaming?

I use it to write music. I just let the music that normally plays in myhead, blast on some dream speakers then I tab myself, and figure out all the parts. Then I wake up and go play. I've created a few good songs from my dreams. But the dream versions are always way more intense with way more layers

      hmm

I'm starting to write a little more music about my dreams but i'm writting a screen play with a friend from schol and my dreams are a big part in the script.

That's a great idea gameover!!! If only i could remember what my dream songs were, mine are usually really weird and heavy sounding... i write about certain dreams that i have.

I use things from my dreams, I'll use them in pictures or stories that I make.

William Burroughs published a dream journal (My Education). It's interesting if you're familiar with his work, it shows where a lot of his routines came from. Makes it scarier, even, to think it came from his subconscious.

For me, it's the other way around. If I'm working on something (writing), the themes will show up in (non-lucid) dreams.

I've been inspired by a few of my dreams and they became the base for some of my stories that I'm writing. There's one I'm working on that will include lucid dreaming. I might mention an "anonymous website" that she goes to to try and figure out what's going on. However, it's going to get her into trouble when she breaks through the SP I need to go back through my DJ and see if I can us any of it.... I'll need to.

Roller, You might want to check this post out. Hearing music

I feel that my hynagogic imagages provide me with more insirational ideas than my dreams, but I still use my dreams when I can. I think I should Annalize my dreams more to subtract ideas that could be unique ideas.

Where do you get your inspiration
      From the above:
Somtimes I think that if you make yourself draw, paint, write or whatever, even if you are just working on a still life that your creative juices will begin to flow. Dry spells happen, but somtimes preserverance can overcome that. If you have talent just rendering anything down can sprout a good idea.

I've created a few pieces based on dreams that I've had, but it's been a while. Part of the reason that I havent dont anything recently is that, with all the time demands of school, I havent been so artistically inclined. Most of the creative designs that I've seen in dreams recently have been architectural ideas, mostly for houses. After I wake up, I think "Hmm, that would be an interesting house..." I think that once I get lucid dreaming down, I'll use it for ideas a lot, since it's so easy to design and change things in that environment.
Well life is short, so love the one ya' got, 'cause you might get run over or you might get shot.

It seems that lots of people get a basic idea from their dreams and expand on that, I however want to explore my ideas. It's not that I need ideas - I've had so many I don't know what to do with them. The novel I am writing at the moment is a futurist kinda one, and I am really interested in describing a different world and reality through writing. I haven't LD'd yet, but when I do my aim will be to explore the world of my novel, and thus adding detail and substance to my story. It's kinda an experiment, and I guess when I do I will publish my results on here to tell you guys what it is like.

The creative potential for LD's seems to me to be astronomical - limited only by imagination, it seems. However it is one thing to use imagination, and another to describe things properly - usually to describe things properly, the writer must have experienced it themselves. In the case of LD's I intend to go and experience things, therefore enabling me to write about em better...

I have written a few poems from dreams before I started learning all of this - dreams seem to be so emotionally charged that it is a shame not to. The only thing is that the recall of these dreams seems to fade, so I guess I should develop that alot more.

Oh well when (not if) I finally get my LD'ing developed enough to do this easily I will let you guys know.

I agree. That's why I've enjoyed writing fantasy novels is being able (to a degree) to describe exactly what's going on. Feelings, emotions, physical attributes, etc. I'd love to go to one of my worlds in an LD. (And even play Shadow Tag)

I think most semi-creative people find inspiration from their dreams, the subconscious is a remarkable place to explore, I would love to be a painter and access information from my intuition and just start going crazy with a paintbrush and my instinct (but I cant paint very well at the moment) if you are a creative individual writing is a good way to channel your thoughts and desire. I remember once in a dream I asked myself to see a painting, my subconscious showed me but I couldn’t remember it upon waking (lol) the irony! If I did recall the painting imagine the possibilities! Your subconscious is your main inspiration to create, be it a writer, a filmmaker, a freestyle jumper, a musician, whatever you want you already have the information inside your dreams!

i draw people from dreams on occasion. I have some really sweet renditions of my dream guide's last outfit (i couldn't get the guide right at all, but the outfit looks awesome.)
Why is it that when i am holding all of the cards, everyone else decided to play chess?

I'm trying a bit of the opposite of what most of you are doing. I started a series of paintings, and I'm hoping to go into them in a lucid dream and "pull out" new characters, compositions, settings, etc. Really, I'm also just curious to interact with characters and elements that I created in waking life that have no voice or personality.
