How do you deal with saliva?

Ok, last night, I turned on my PSP, loaded up my Lucid Dreaming MP3 file, put on my headphones then layed down in a comfy position. After 10 minutes or so, I fell into SP (my first time) and got kinda scared (My heart was racing at this point and I repeatedly tried to calm down but failed) so I jumped up and took my headphones off.
I then executed a Nose RC to see if I was in a dream...Nope, I'm just an idiot :P

I decide to try again, so I put my headphones back on, got back into the same position and closed my eyes. Eventually, after an hour of lying there, I got back into SP. This time I managed to control my breathing but all I did was lie there.......I knew why, it was because of the headphones. They made me slightly uncomfortable and the sound was just a bit too loud. But then another disaster struck! My mouth was filling up with saliva....I couldn't hold it in, I sat up, swallowed (Bleh...) then gave up...

Basically, I need help with my saliva as I have no way to dispose of it (unless I drool but then it falls down onto my cheek which, as I'm extremely tickilish, I jump and obviously, I'd fail my LD) What does everyone else do?
If I can't get past this then I dunno If I'll have another LD...
Should I swallow???

Drooling works quite well for me. Sure, it isn't sexy, and I had to put my pillow cases in the wash again, but I find it oddly relaxing. I don't know why, maybe a reminiscence of when I was a baby. Do you sleep on your back or on your belly?

Well, I sleep on my side, and I guess I'll have to stay like that anyway as I just had an injury. The only detail I will give you is: Metal pole + Private Area = PAIN
But yeah, I sleep on my side :P

I can hardly see how not to drool then. I for one can't keep my mouth shut when I sleep, so the only way to keep my dignity when I share my bed is to sleep on my back.
Also, I wish you a speedy recovery! (skateboarding accident?)

It is, when I swallow I tend to lose SP. I tried it once the second time I got SP and I only just managed to completely relax and regain it.

You're waiting too long and paying it too much attention. Swallowing shouldn't affect much of anything. Just do it naturally, don't force it, and you'll be fine.

I second the 'just swallow, no biggie' comment.
Keep in mind you still produce salvia when you're sleeping, right? You'd only come out of SP because your body recognizes you're awake, but swallowing shouldn't logically do that as it's something you do naturally when you're asleep (as a non-drooler, lol).
I had the same worry the first couple times myself, until I realized that.

I'm pretty sure you can move your eyes and head a little while in SP.. and it won't interrupt it. Soo it's fine to swallow I guess.

I think it's okay to swallow. You could just let it drool, no fashion show here. But it could get messy.

The problem for me is that is sort of starts a chain reaction ending in me unable to concentrate long enough to make it.

This swallowing thing gets easier by practise. I can hold my SP even when talking. I have a wife and 2 kids, one of them tends to be a very bad sleeper... she comes to our bedroom once in a while and sometimes I'm in a sleep paralysis - if I lie perfectly still, only notice her entering the room and not letting my mind stray too much, I can tell her: "go to your room and sleep" without ending my SP - once I even got into a WILD 10 minutes after she left the room.

I can also swallow saliva and open my eyes without ending SP - I think it depends on how deep your "trance-state" is - to me SP and trance is the same and you can train yourself to go deeper. Keep your mind still and you can keep your trance as long as you don't move your body below your neck too much. Actually you can make your SP lighter if you wiggle your body a little - sometimes you go to deep and become uncomfortable.

I have been practising trance-induction (or SP) for nearly 2 years daily (or should i say nightly...) so keep at it.

I tried to get Lucid last night, I failed as always, but when I got into SP, I tried swallowing, I was fine. Then, I tried opening my eyes completely for a second, that worked too. I'll get into the habit of swallowing instead of drooling, thanks for all the tips guys :)
