re-occuring aquatic theme ?

I have several types of dreams that reoccur but the most frequent is my aquatic dreams where I am observing tons of extremely strange water creatures. Either I am walking above small ponds and looking down to watch these creatures, or I'm at an aquarium, or rarely I am swimming amongst them (scary). Its one of my favorite dreams because these things are so unique and amazing to watch, but for whatever reason I never become lucid in these dreams even though it is a perfect dream sign.

Anyone else have this reoccuring theme ?

i use water in my technique - in the past i had a lot of aquatic dreams, so a while ago i started having more on purpose and getting lucid through them. i've also interacted with a couple interesting fish-like creatures :D

interesting, could you describe your technique. Since I have these dreams several times a week I feel like they could be the perfect way to trigger lucidity, I am very aware in these dreams but seem to never reach full lucidity.

I used to have them a lot too, and I was usually not lucid when it happened.

It's like the events unfold and I am caught up scene of the aquatic dream. Large creatures, sometimes large prehistoric ones.

For you, it's a great time to develop the ability to notice & follow the (re-occurring) sign to become lucid.
If you do succeed you will be able to go more deeply into them.


Edit: some would say underwater dreams are like related to your sub conscience mind or something
&that the sea creatures may relate to your primal instincts or a sleeping/dormant awareness, but that's only what some young kid told me and I think it's just rumor.

My aquatic dreams tend to fall into two categories. The first is when water plays a secondary or minor role in the dream. In these dreams I somehow find myself able to breathe under water, run across the surface of water, etc.

The second category is typically more negative and also more common. I am in a situation with turbulent water...large waves crashing down and me struggling to stay on the surface (sometimes as large as skyscrapers). In fact, I just awoke from one about 3 hours ago. In this dream I was jet skiing (which was really fun actually, I was doing crazy jumps off of ramps and such) but at some point during the dream the waves became rather large and "aggressive", and though I wasn't really lucid in the dream, I decided to wreck my watercraft into a wall to wake myself up...:shock:

BTW, killing myself in my dreams is like an "emergency exit" for me, but you'd think I wouldn't know to do this unless some part of me knew I was dreaming...and yet I wasn't really lucid. I'm not sure how to categorize those types of dreams.

I dream about my fish often. I'll find more fish in the tank, distorted fish, ill fish, or my fish in a different place. In waking life, I don't actually think about my fish that often. I'm thinking the fish are a symbol of anxiousness towards my responsibilities (when I was into fish, bred and raised them, their food and tank maintenance were time consuming, daily tasks. Now, it probably relates to course assignments I've neglected.). To support this, I do have more dreams of fish after days of procrastination.

You could try translating your aquatic theme into it's latent meaning, and then reality check when you come across that symbol in real life. I don't have to rely on waiting for a fish to reality check--I reality check when I think about an assignment I know I'm going to have to put off for another day.

Yeah Lucid4sho, I have the same theme going on. Actually, i've been learning from Cygnus to use these to my advantage. Water dreams rock, I'm not gonna lie. My recall has improved ridiculously because of them.
