Lately, I have made a plan to learn lucid techniques. What I'm going to try to do is find my DG first, then have him/her/it teach me how to fly, shoot lazers, teleport, etc. Is this a good idea? Has anyone else tried this kind of thing?

if you think it will work, then yes its a great idea. Whatever gives you confidence is a good idea. Just be sure to be willing to try things on your own if the Dream guide thing doesn't work out, and even if it does. You don't want to make yourself artificially reliant on a construct of your own imagination.
Thanks for replying! And I won't get reliant, but I'm having a hard time flying, so I just thought I could make it easier by having somone teach me to do it.:D
Yeah, that makes a lot of sense. In Lucid dreams, if you believe something will happen, it will. If your dream guide tells you something will work, why would you doubt him/her? It is your subconscious manifest after all. Just make sure you are dream journalling.
Yeah, that makes sense... thanks :P
Yea, sounds like a plan. After all, that's what most people use their dream guides for. Have you read the Dream Guide tutorial?
If you planning what your going to do in your lucid dream. That is exactly what you need out of these 2 things : Intention And Awareness.
Your intention is what you intend to do when you get to the other side, plan what you need to do. If you stuck there thinking of what to do, you will wake up! Or have a very short lucid dream.
Your awareness is being aware that your lucid and adjusting to the dream state. To improve to vividness of the dream, spin around or rub your hands. This also can make the dream last longer.
Hope that helps,
Lucidness.
Thanks. All that helped. Also, no, I haven't seen the DG tutorial, too busy looking at everything else XD
I've never had a dream guide while lucid dreaming (never needed one or knew about it, I guess). Is this common. Please excuse the dumb questions, but while I've been lucid dreaming most of my life, I never had a DG. Is this useful to some folk?
Hmm...Iguess it would be hard to find your DG if you didn't know about it :)
Yeah, I would say it's normal...but that's just me:shock:
Hmmmm...as I'm seeing people write that a DG is a 'doorway' to your subconcious then I have had a something of a Dream Kind. However it doesn't appear as a person or animal. It appears as the Ocean. I knew it represented my unconcious, I just never thought of it as a DG. Learn something new everyday.
Vocatus, since you never cared nor knew what a dream guide was. Then it wont come up in your dream. Having said that, some people's dream guide's actually try to contact them whilst there dreaming. But if your intention is to find your dream guide, then you will find your dream guide, if that is what you intend to do ofcourse, but thats not always the case unfortunetly.
Ah, I remember reading it, but I can't recall where it is... maybe in the Dream Control section...?
