Can anyone wake themselves from their dreams, purposely?
Sorry if this in the wrong forum, wasn't sure where it could fit.
I was just wondering if anyone could purposely wake themselves from a dream, inparticularly, a nightmare. I learned how to do it when I was younger, so rarely had an encounter with anything scary. Just before something could grab me, or just as something came closer, I'd close my eyes real tight, and roll around on the floor, and wake up a few seconds later. Thought it was a pretty damn nifty

Yep, you can will yourself to wake up while dreaming. Obviously you'd have to realize first that you're dreaming, and then "fight" to wake up. False awakenings are very possible though.

Yeah, I had a false awakening once when trying to wake myself. Had me hella confused, lol.
i used to be able to wake my self up purposely
i used to be able to do this, but i have no need to now because of lucid dreaming :D but i discovered different states that i could awake myself to.
It all started when i was in about a 20 feet deep pool, and i was in it, and does anyone know that black whale thing from Star Wars the Empire Strikes Back? its when Luke crashlands in the swamp on Degobah and you see a black whale thing swim by and swallow R2D2.
Well anyway there were those scary things in the pool too, and they were swimming after me, so i swam down to the bottom of the pool. instead of it being darker it was white-ish and then i realized, "what if i could wake myself up?" so i tried and then where i appeared didnt make sense.
I appeared to what was whiteness. total whiteness, the ground, air, sky, everything. and i later discovered that i could wake myself up "halfway" instead of "all the way" waking up. Then i had bad dreams and i didnt want to stay "in" them so i woke myself up completely. i could then wake my self up by will. All i had to do was to "force" the dream scenery away and , well , wake my self up. But if i had thought about visualizing myself in my room waking up, i would have reentered my nightmare, except it would start over at my house lol.
