Ok, I just came up with this idea. *for the newbies*
Attaining lucidity can be easy for some, and very hard for others. The key is patience, will, and motivation. If you are feeling unmotivated, and about to give up, post here describing your situation, and we will try to give you a little push.

The way that I have kept myself motivated is by finding techniques that I have not tried before and attempting them for the next week or so. It's fun to experiment and see if they are more effective than what you have been trying.
Who knows? Maybe some obscure method that has only worked for a few other people will work great for you!
Hmm...experimenting can be good to some extent, but I'm pretty sure it would be better to find a method you like and more or less stick with it...practice makes perfect, right?

Something I've learned is, the harder I try to force myself to have a lucid, the less likely I am to have one. In fact, I went through a spell where I was trying to WBTB every night, and failing at that; but it started wrecking my recall. Then it started wrecking my dreams in general (I wasn't getting "story" dreams, I was just having those "thought" dreams. The ones where you just know all you've been doing all night is thinking about the things you can't let go of when you fall asleep).
I've taken a step back. I'm working on rebuilding the foundation that I had. Just making my recall is back up to par first (being able to recall dreams daily). To be honest, I'm done with trying any method that relies on a WBTB. For the remainder of my LD days, I'll work on my awareness for DILDs and I'll use mantras for when I fall asleep. I can chain dreams when I have been lucid or when the dream was strong enough.
I've had LD's since long before I found this site, and I'll always be able to have them; I just have to focus on what has normally worked for me and stop trying to force something that isn't meant for me yet :)
Yeah, I agree with this. You should just be comfortable with practicing a good LD routine. Don't await each night thinking "I BETTER HAVE AN LD TONIGHT", just let it come to you.Quote:

my situation:
Never had a lucid dream, tried a lot of things, but the nearest thing I had were 2-3 very vivid dreams(they were adorable)
I lost a lot of patience, worked on this for 1 year(Dild,Mild,Wild,a bit of dream yoga...EILD....devices..sleep deprivation)....also I took like 4-5 breaks in were I relaxed and didn't think on lucid dreams...but nothing...
What I'm going to do these days is a powerful form of dream yoga. it consists of:
-Awareness through the day, awaraness means that I will pay a lot of atention to my 5 senses(I think this works because, how do you perceive the world? with your senses, ok, this is delivered to the mind...but...if you don't pay all the atention to your senses, this means you aren't really aware of what's around you, so, this awareness should bring more lucidity and vivid dreams....)
-Daily Meditation(7 hours a day(dividided into 7 segments along the day), for me isn't too much, considering that I can meditate without too much problem a full hour, and, knowing that everytime I stop meditating, the awareness I kept during the meditation comes naturally to me(if I was breathing meditation, I will continue naturally breathing meditation after finishing)
-Reality Checks when something weird happens.
-Rehearsing during the night that I will become lucid...
-Journal of Dreams
-WILD with WBTB
from this things I expect more vivid dreams, and, lucidity. I will work on this for 2 weeks, I need to know that this will work, that's because I need motivation.

well heres how i see it.
motivation is something that i have always struggled to find, whether with lucid dreaming or life in general. what ive found is that the stuff that i really love to do motivates me. anything else that im not as interested in i dont do or finish. how many unfinished books do you have? unfinished drawings? unfinished projects, ideas, or anything else? motivation is a huge factor for all those things.
so i suppose my opinion is to stick to the things you love, and if you dont love it and its optional then why are you doing it?
