what is this?
for the first time ever ( i didn't go lucid but I chose my dream) when I was going to bed I thought about what would happen if 9ft of snow just fell when I was in school with no gear. (survival, end of the world stuff makes me sleepy...) I was hoarding food and getting ready to walk home with my umbrella as a shoe (to keep myself from sinking in)
and you wouldn't believe what I dreamed. the EXACT scenario. I even stole the same food from the cafeteria as I did when I was thinking. there were just a few differences.
I highly doubt it was the same dream twice, but one lucid. that would really suck if I missed my first lucid cuz I thought I was just thinking...

This is most likely a form of dream incubation. By harboring a thought about a dream, you can consciously (or, in your case, possibly subconsciously) make yourself dream about something you want to. In your case, it being the last thought on your mind ( and possibly the most important at the time ) it converted over to your dreams.
Make sense?

Oniman is right. And you can't really "miss" a lucid by definition. Lucidity is simply being aware. This doesn't guarantee dream control, that you'll remember it vividly, or even that it'll last longer than a few seconds. These all come with practice.
You can use dream incubation to become lucid, though. Plan to see Morgan Freeman in a dream. When you fall asleep and see him, you'll remember and do a reality check, making you lucid.
Hope it helped :)

I did that once in Lucid, after the lucid finshed that night dreamt about what i thought.
