Can lucid dreaming help me get better grades?

Hey I haven't been on the site but I must say I like the improvements and I'm happy to see some of the old mods still around.

I sort of slacked off on lucid dreaming how ever there was a period of 3 weeks were every day I would wake up from a dream and some of them were even lucid. ( about 1 month ago).

Im now writing final exams this week in school and will be starting 2nd semester Feb 3rd. Im putting more effort into getting better grades in school next semester as I really slacked off 1st.. oh im in gr. 9

Would it be safe to study in dreams? Like information I take in, would it be someone accurate do you think? Any one have experience with this.

Or do you think it's better to use lucid dreaming as just freeing my self from days stress and just live my fantasies?

I know people who have said that they used a LD to get a better grade on an upcoming test or something, but I'm unconvinced. With things like sports you can use it to get down things, and with studying you can rehearse things you've memorized, but there's no way to know if you're rehearsing a wrong answer or not. It's possible, but use with caution.

I know what you mean. When I had LDs during the exams ( which finished last week :D ) I used them to remember what I memorised during the day. It did help me as far as I've been through. Now I'm eagerly awaiting my high ( hopefuly ) grades :P

I wouldn't count on it. There's a chance that you'll remember things that you've memorized, but unless you've memorized ALL of the information that you need to know then you're going to come up short on exam day.

I wouldn't recommend it. Lucid Dreaming is notorious for being unstable and unpredictable. You might be feed the wrong information or the dream may confuse you.

However, practising physical activities will help you in waking life. In Stephen Leberge's book he mentions how your brain still sends signals to the relative muscles when your dreaming. In a way, it will be a like muscle memory.

As a study tool...I don't place much confidence in lucid dreaming, since it would be impossible to know if your brain was calling up the right data or not. Best to just hit the books, and then relieve the accumulated stress by having a damn good time. ;)

You could practice the information that you have already memorized.

Well...if you've already memorized it, do you really need to practice it? :?

Well yes because you could forget some of it and dreams are used to sort information anyway so why is it not possible to study information you have in temporary storage and put it in pernament storage? I believe it is highly possible but we all have unique opinions so no one can say they are right because there is no solid poof. :)

There was a fellow I adopted years ago named UMJ. He used lucid dreaming to help him access the information he had studied for his SAT.

In his lucid dreams, he would walk aroud a kind of library he had created and would access his knowledge. I guess what it really did wat to establish a stronger link between his concious mind and memory.

He told me that he blew his SAT out of the water.

With the right technique, you can pretty much memorize anything. Dreaming shouldn't even come into it.

That sounds reallly interesting. I'm going to put a bit more effort into lucid dreaming then hopefully see how it works out ( if I don't get distracted by doing other things).

I'll give it a try myself - I agree that an LD will only help you study for something assuming you've got all the material memorized, and will just provide you with extra time to commit it to memory that will stick around longer. With that understanding, I may be able to use it to help myself out with my college work. I have a math test in two days that I really don't need to test myself on or do much of any studying on, but I might give this a go if I can LD a decent length tonight or tomorrow night. I'll post back if I can, but if I don't then it's 'cause I'm having problems LDing or am busy with less productive, more "fun" LDing excapades than studying. XD

I do agree that there's no way to tell if you're remembering the right info. Perhaps try looking up something in a dream and checking it as soon as you wake up. If you find that works several times you may be on to something.

im a grade 9 as well, starting 2nd semester tomorrow.

I found LDing has really boosted my overall mood and motivation to do my work. so yes, it can help your grades.
