      Naturals?

I think naturals really do exist. I was telling my friend about lucid dreaming, and she started saying things like "Wait, you have to try to know you're dreaming?" and after further interrogation it turned out she was always lucid in her dreams, and could always control them.

Yeah, my sister is a natural. When I described lucid dreaming to her, she casually replied back "oh, I didn't know that it had a name." Apparently she can go lucid with little effort. After talking to her about it further, she says that she just knows when she's dreaming. It doesn't happen every time, but apparently it's pretty frequent.

I am actually happy that i'm not a natural. Naturals take lucid dreaming for granted like we do with regular dreams. The way I see it, working hard for something makes it a lot more worth while.

That is very far from the truth. I'm a natural and I do not take any LD for granted. I'm constantly searching for new avenues to better things either within the dream or entering the dream. Being a natural doesn't necessarily mean you have automatic control over the dream content. There is much to strive for there are higher Plato's to reach. I had no idea that there was a name for being aware in dreams as I remember asking my mother at a young age about having the ability to wake myself up from scary dreams. I remember I told her specifically that I don't stay in some of my dreams long because they are scary so I just wake myself up. I remember her saying "wake yourself up?" I remember telling friends this stuff in grade school and they laughed and called me a liar. "You can't wake yourself up out of a dream" So I didn't discuss it with anyone else afterwards. Fortunately my sister has the same ability and we were able to share a lot of cool experiments together with lucidity. I didn't realize there was a name for it until sometime in late 1998. Once I realized there was a name applied to my type of dreaming I no longer felt like something was wrong with me. Which was a weight I was carrying on my shoulders for a very long time. I started researching my ass off and I've learned and applied a lot of techniques and methods which I continue to do till this very day. It's an ongoing process because there is always something new to learn whether you're natural or not. Being a natural only means that you have the natural ability to become coherent within the dream without any help of RC's or any other popular techniques. You basically go into the dream conscious and realize consciously that you are dreaming without the help of any techniques to help you determine it. It's just a natural know-how. I was calling my Lucid Dreams "Coherent Dreams" for a long time before I found out it's true name.

I stand corrected. Glad to know you still have a lot to explore with your dreams.

when i was young i was a natural.

my 13 yr old cousin is a natural.

i think as we get old and forgetting dreams becomes something "normal" through social conditioning many of us start to doubt that we can easily become lucid.
