Long Lucid Dream at sleep onset

Sat.night I had a solid 1 hour long, stable, vivid and fluid LD right after falling asleep.

So much for the idea that one has to be in the later REM stages for this to happen...

I wont be expecting this to happen too often, but now I know it is possible.

Were you sleep deprived, or wasted the night before? Both of those stop you getting the usual amount of REM sleep, so you get a "rebound" effect with hella-vivid dreams the next time you sleep.

No not really.I did have a long week at work and was physically tired, but not sleep deprived.I get a good nights sleep most every night (LDing is kind of sacred to me)
I see no reason why I would of had REM rebound right off the bat like this, but I suppose it is possible somehow.I'm 40, my party days are kind of over,so I wasn't wasted.

If it matters,I did take some Ginseng ,B12,B6,D,and E vitamins earlier in the day,but this is usual for me.Had sonny's BBQ for dinner. Before bed I had a little apple juice and some carbs.

      Thanks Darkmatters!

I have to wonder if we normally dream, and maybe occasionaly LD,during NREM phases without recall or laying down of memories of it? Maybe the Dopamine theory of dreaming can shed some light on this.I'll have to do a little reading later to see....
