      Too much stress!

I'm stressed because I've been busy with life... Track has been stressing but also rewarding. I love track so I don't want to quit but I also want to learn how to LD. I realized that I wasn't getting enough sleep with all the extra things I did so I dropped a few things like ballet (which I loved D: ). I've already had one LD but it happened when I was sick and I was laying in bed all day. It took basically half the day to really get into my sleep and LD. I don't have that amount of time to sleep. I wake up early in the morning for school and I'm normally awaken by surprise so I don't recall most of my dreams. Also, my personal life has been stressful. I've had a lot of drama which I normally try to avoid but sometimes it's impossible. I really want to LD but I'm finding it hard to do. Any suggestions?

Yeah stress can be a dream killer. What techniques have you applied to lucid dream? Maybe the one you are using just doesn't suit you. For me, WBTB is easy because I don't need to do much during the day, I just do reality checks and read my favorate journal entrees during the 15-20 mins I am awake.

I hope you end up having a descent lucid dream soon

I tried WBTB but I have trouble waking up because I have to wake up at such an early hour that I just couldn't handle it. Those few minutes of sleep that I lost made me extremely exhausted during the day. I also was doing well at recalling my dreams for a while but then some things happened and I just lost it....

Now, I really don't have a method. I semi gave up.

Hmm... About how much sleep do you get a night? Maybe you should get to bed earlier if possible.

I get about 5-6 hours of sleep a night. Sometimes less. I can't help going to bed late. Sometimes it's because I have homework or I have a meet. Other times it's because I get distracted and don't want to quit what I'm doing. Like I'll watch something on TV and not want to turn it off or I'll get on here and get caught up in the chat..etc. Or I'll be talking to one of my friends and we won't want to say goodbye. Also, I have trouble sleeping. When I go to bed early I have trouble actually falling alseep. I lie there for somtimes up to 2 hours but normally 30-1 hour before falling alseep. That's why going to bed so late is benefical.

I guess the only way to LD is to get some rest but its sooo hard to break an old habit. I'm starting to think that I should put this LD thing on hold until summer but when I first found out about lucid dreaming I was eager to learn. I wanted to jump straight into it.

Maybe whenever you get the free time, pick up a book on lucid dreaming. Exploring the World of Lucid Dreaming by Stephen LaBerge is well known around here if you haven't heard of it yet. Or just reading some of our tutorials before sleep. That should tire you out while thinking about lucid dreaming.

I'm sure there are other ways too. I'll let you know if I can think of anything else.

Okay. I'm going to the book store some time soon so I'll check out some books on Lucid Dreaming. I'll also try, try, try to get to bed earlier. Thanks for your help.

I like you have/had trouble sleeping early, mostly because I'll do the same thing. What I find helps a lot is if you are extremely exhausted, maybe do some exercise 2hours before bed, that's supposed to help. I also find that setting a time for bed is much better than just going whenever you want to go. Gotta have to say those goodbyes or put off the TV sometime, might as well benefit from that and get more hours for sleep. When I was younger, I used to be able to sleep 5-6hr and feel really energetic and refreshed. Now, I can sleep for 8-9hr and still feel tired, go figure Anyways, I would just focus on DILDs and MILDs if WILDs and WBTBs aren't possible. Good luck

Edit: One other thing, you can find ETWOLD by Stephen LaBerge on some of those free writer websites. Someone on here had the link up way back, but, I am not sure if it's been removed or not

Don't quit the things you love to do lucid dreaming, the whole point of it in the first place is to enrich the life not limit it

If you are serious about it, it will limit your life for sure. At least in the beginning.

By doing a RC you limit your life. By writting one single letter in your DJ you limit your life. By reading about lucid dreaming you limit your life.

How is that a limit? Thats related to lucid dreaming so its an enrichment, also doing a DJ helps to open your imagination.

I think I see your point You are arguing that by trying to learn to LD, you are limiting yourself because you are only considering what you will do when you succeed in LDing and not considering life itself and how far you can go

What with a sum of 10 minutes total? Not much of a difference...

You can think about/read about lucid dreaming all day long. I spend a lot more than 10 minutes every day to focus on LDing. DJing takes me at least 10-20 min during the night/morning and then another 20-30 min to upload it to my computer (which I do pretty much every day) Then I take a walk where I focus on my awareness for an hour. That's 2 hours for me right there.

Agreed, I've spent days focusing on LDing and what I mean by that is I would be thinking about LDing a lot during the day and hope that night can come soon enough

I have been slacking ALOT on my DJ. I'm going to get a tape recorder to make it easier on me.

Well you guys are way off topic. Shouldn't this thread be closed seeing as how the OP has reached a solution for a problem for which this thread was founded on.

But I've always wanted to control my dreams and when I found out about lucid dreaming I was amazed. I didn't really give up ballet for lucid dreaming. I quit cheer earlier this year because it was adding extra pressure on me. I then decided that I wanted to still dance so I signed up for ballet but once again I got stressed so I've decided to take a break for a while from dancing and what not. I still kept to Track though and I'm going to start putting alot of effort into lucid dreaming.
