Project

I'm just wondering...
In the case I'm ever given a project where I'm allowed to pick my own topic (or something that has to do with the mind or something), do you think the teacher would mark me as a crazy if I were to do a written project on Lucid Dreaming?

I'm not saying that this might even happen, just asking a question.

Another way I guess you could think of this question:

Would the general public find you crazy if you brought up Lucid dreaming in something like an Oral Presentation

If the opportunity did present itself, I'd probably do a project on Lucid Dreaming because it seems like such an unknown topic that is very interesting.

It depends, really, who you are presenting this to, and in which way.
If you present the old Laberge-scientific study it will be less likely that you will be found crazy.
But then again, some people think one is crazy regardless of whatever one gives them, so the public is important lol

Depends on the class. If you drag the subject up before your freshman English class, you're likely to get some funny looks. If you brought this up in, say, a psych class, you'd be normal. If it's a college class and if the subject fits the assignment, you'd be more likely to be greeted with open minds.

I don't think people would think an LD presentation was weird if you kept it scientific, going into detail about sleep cycles and the science behind it. I'd love to do a project on it if the oppurtunity came up! (Although I am kind of doing an unofficial project, in a way.)

I guess it depends if you're taking a proper, well-informed approach to your presentation, but undoubtedly I say yes, because if the question isn't in how it is being presented (as in, am I treating my presentation as completely factual and informational, in other words am I putting in the proper effort into the presentation) but rather the content of the presentation being lucid dreaming, I'd do it in a heartbeat. Well, I should say, will do it. I'm giving a collegiate speech for my class on lucid dreaming that will be referencing Paul Tholey and Stephen LaBerge for the information sources on the subject, which amounts to the use of scientific findings and factual information, which should be entirely to teach others about it.

This type of presentation would be received, I imagine, with open minds, because who doesn't find themselves curious about how to control their own dreams? I'm not afraid of making a presentation on it, so long as I'm using proper sources rather than just saying, "I speak from personal experience." While that would make the speech more genuine in my mind, speaking entirely from personal experience would definitely get you some odd looks. Maybe not in college, but from high school/junior high peers.

Ultimately, I don't think there's anything to be afraid of when doing a project on lucid dreaming.

Done it, doing it and will probably keep doing it.

I did an oral presentation about it in my Swedish class (I'm swedish). Our assignment was to inform the class about something and I picked lucid dreaming since i find it so fascinating. I didn't talk very much about the science behind it but it still went just fine. Most people have already had an LD (I know at least two classmates who are activly LD:ing), so they know I'm not insane. :wink:

Right now I'm doing a bigger project, writing a 25 page book on it. The teachers have absolutely nothing agianst my choice of subject.

I'm also planning on choosing LDs in my psychology class. Call me addicted but I like working with it.:cheeky:

I'm sure no one will complain if you would pick lucid dreaming either.

I already did it in my English class. I did a presentation about dreams (Half of it was about lucid dreams).
