I haven't experienced this...my more memorable dreams are usually dominated by driving like an absolute maniac. Sounds like a great idea, though. I should try doing that sometime...

Yes, I get this. Sometimes I remember nothing of the song, sometimes I remember the general theme of the song and sometimes I remember the whole chorus, lyrics and all. In an LD the other night I deliberately found a radio and switched it on. I really liked the music I heard - it was like a jolly 40s-style sound; this was complete surprise.
My LDing record, if you want to hear about it, is about 4 WILDs, 1 DEILD, and the rest DILDs.

I had one where I was in a band. Hell, if I sounded like that IRL I'd make billions.

I hear brilliant music in my dreams all the time! Sometimes I wake up and try to find out if it exists online (it usually doesn't lol)- but that's only if I remember it, which I usually don't.

A lot of the music that I write while awake comes from a seed of a tune that I remember from dreams, lucid or not. If you practice focusing on remembering what you hear, you'll get to the point where (if you're musical,) you can elaborate on it and write something beautiful yourself. Afterall, the music you hear in your dreams, must exist in your mind, no? So YOU created it. Interesting to think about the fact that you can do that at any time during your waking day, if you just believe it.

A week ago when I was lucid I listened to one of my friends playing a solo guitar piece (he doesn't really play guitar). It was the most complex and beautiful piece of acoustic guitar music I've ever heard. I focused on remembering it, and I could recall a short bit of the melodi as I woke up, but I fell asleep and into another dream and thus lost the melody . I'd like to remember the whole piece, at least chords+melody would be nice. But it's so damn hard.
Currently practicing WILD. I quote Kaniaz who said it best: "The point of WILD is to piss me off". Though, I have not given up, far from it.

Just remember that the music you heard was born in your mind, and you can recreate it any time that you choose to, if you set your intent to do so. Meditate.

Sometimes I get music, rarely, but often I can rememeber it ,but it's stuff that is physically impossible or almost impossible to achieve IRL. I feel like this may be something like what you experienced if you wake up and can only remember that there was music, you might just not be able to conceptualize it while awake.

I don't know though, its worth a thought.

I had a dream once where I was a woman on a stage wearing a silken blue dress, behind me a grey curtain, in front of me an audience sitting in the dark, spotlights all directed at me. Then I began to sing. No accompaniment, just my voice. Never have I heard something so exceptional and not only heard... after all it was me singing like this. It wasn't even a written piece of music, I just intuitively sung right from my heart. Holding the last note, I saw butterflies materialize in front of me and when I awoke I wept. It wasn't a lucid dream, but it was one of my most special ones.

I'm actually making music, but that's nothing in comparison.

P.S. I think I'll post the detailed report somewhere.

I found the records and translated them. Seems like my memory failed me with some details. Here's the full report.

This happens to me sometimes, too. It doesn't bother me too much, but it might if I actually picked up a real instrument again. Luckily, that's not happening anytime soon.

Richard D. James of Aphex twin fame, once stated that his "Selected ambient works II" was based on music he heard in his dreams. You might check it out. It's a double CD or triple LP and out on warp:

I never hear music in my dreams, lucid or not. I do make music, and its a very important part of my life.
