Loonngg LD..........
hey all,
i had a nice long LD this morning. i am guessing it went on for about an hour or maybe more.
what did i do? when i would go dark (lose the images) I just kept dreaming anyway, i didn't assume "it was all over".
then the images would come back and i'd be on my way again. a few times i said "increase lucidity" or "increase vividness" but really, just refusing to stop the dream worked wonders.
the pictures and even vividness would return. in this long time (i am wondering if i just plowed through a NREM period or not?) i had two major plots. that's it. otherwise quite consistent.
i experimented with all sorts of fun stuff, especially summoning... and resisting the urge to fly (for a change!)
moral: don't give up so easily just because the picture fades.

I had this dream last night where I got very excited () and started to wake up. Using will power I managed to hold onto the dream for a long while. So I can agree with this. If you expect to wake up, you do.

Congrats on your success beachgirl! Its always a great feeling after a nice, long lucid.

How many LDs have you had? Are you very experienced? This sounds like a great thing to start getting used to and you could lucid all night! But yea I wonder what happens when you were going through your NREM periods? All my lucids so far have been under a few minutes so this would be good for me to try

thanks, KingYoshi,
it really is, isn't it? it stays with me ALL day!
like, to myself, i know.... i'm the (wo)man!
Ferret, i haven't counted my ld's so i would only guess... maybe 40? since i started in july 09 so i consider myself a newbie, sort of. and maybe 10 ld's before i learned what they were and that i could even create them intentionally.
i do have these long ones from time to time, and they are so much fun. like an epic journey.
but because they are longer i can forget some of what happened, and the lucidity varies more from zero to brilliant.
today was cool cuz i so stayed with it no matter what.
like, i'd summon an object, even if i couldn't see it, and demand vividness, and act like i was dreaming. and the images would return and i'd be in the same place, same dream. this is new for me.
i can't remember how long NREM is in the AM. I am guessing it's pretty short (like 20 minutes?) so if you really were focused this would happen. i've timed some long lucids (not this one) but know the others lasted a looonnnggg time. can't tell if they went "through" NREM, tho.

What do you mean you just kept dreaming after you lost vision? Any specific technique?
Yeah. I've had success continuing the dream after I lost vision. By that I mean using the tactile sense to remain in the dream the vision will come back.
I had a non-lucid last night where I lost vision but I continued the dream by using my tactile sense and the dream came back. I was climbing a ladder.
Good job on the lucid.
