A Little Bummed Out About Last Night

      What's up Guys!,

Well long story short I guess.. I found myself outside my house last..I can't remember what triggered me to become lucid but I jumped right into like layer 4. I am pretty sure it was a high level of lucidity because I was able to boost right off into the sky, and It was awesome because I was right above where I lived, and everything was perfect, the correct roads, correct land marks. I started soaring up the street to a steet that I could take south to another different intersection where I work, I guess I wanted to show off , anyway its about a 5 mile dash from where I was to where I had to go. So I started flying, but then remembered from a previous lucid dream how I actually learned how to fly a lot faster then I ever could before. I was about 3.4 miles closer to where I was going, and I kept telling me self to stay calm as always, and I kept tried to picture in my head what I should be seeing next as i got closer because I take that road all the time, and I remember reading somewhere that as long as you can create a image in your dream as your flying , you won't wake up as fast. Well, I have no idea what happened, and I felt my dream blurring, but it was way too fast to stop it...I am not sure if something simply woke me up in the living world, or I got too carried away trying to force my scenery into place? I don't know..

      any ideas?

If you try and concentrate too hard or force something to happen/appear in a dream it can cause you to wake up. Its usually best to keep calm and expect something to happen/appear rather than trying to make it appear. Expectations and confidence can go a long way when it comes to LDing. If you want something to appear it is very safe and easy to just search for it. More often than not, you will find whatever you are looking for rather quickly. Try looking around corners, saying out loud whatever you are looking for, etc. Just get creative with it. Good luck to you!

No problem. Dreams are very unstabile in general. Sometimes, for no reason at all the dream will begin to fade. I would suggest practicing and experimenting with stabilization techniques. These can save/extend lucids to their full potentials (time-wise). Many dreamers forget or simply just don't do this, but I always perform a quick stabilization technique every few minutes in my dream (even if everything seems stabile). It can help extend your lucids. Be sure to always perform a RC upon waking. False Awakenings (FAs) are very common while lucid dreaming and they can happen anytime. Alot of the time they are as vivid and real and waking life, so they can easily trick you into thinking you have woken up. You could very well have had a false awakening and not realized it.

Yes indeed I know what FAs are, along with some stabilization techniques. Stabilization usually isn't an issue for me. Just the other night I was in a LD for a very long time. It felt like a good 15-20 minutes even though that sounds so impossible. I was in it for so long, and keeping myself in it, that I actually starting laughing about it during the LD.. I actually said something like " wow, this is still going " and then giggled. When I did eventualy wake up, I remembered it right away and I smiled

With some good stabilization and emotion control you can turn those 15-20 minute LDs into 30min to Hour+ long LDs. It just takes practice and bit of experimenting (when it comes to what works best for you).

Layer 4... huh huh you watch reecejones... I use to watch him. I'm going to tell you some irrelevant but important information... Level of lucidity is how aware you are and how easily you make conscious decessions. Not how much you can do. Layer 4 and 5 would be like as vivid and conscious as you are now. Layer 1-3 would be knowing it is a dream but not knowing what a dream is. Usually the only thing you understand is that you can do whatever you want, but not know why. This causes you to not stabalize the dream and quickly lose lucidity and vividness.

      Off topic but important info.

This happened to me too. I had what felt like a half an hour LD, and during the LD I was amazed that my LD was still going on. At one point during the LD i felt it starting to fade but i re-stabalized it and it went on for like another 10 minutes.

You know it is a dream but usualy in a layer 1-3 you don't fully understand what a dream is. Example: "Cool i'm dreaming" "Wait what do I do now... oh ya what ever I want" "How?" "who cares I can do whatever I want!" Boom! This is how people lose lucidity.

Yea. I don't think I ever had a low layer lucid before, when I started, I was a natural and I got right into it. I even haven't kept a active DJ in months, but I LD atleast 4 times a week, and I have no desire to up that any higher.

bradysdreaming is dead on. My latest LD, I realized I was dreaming by doing an RC however, I didn't become as conscious as my first one where in the first one I could remember exactly what I wanted to do. In this second one, I just teleported out of the mansion and must have lost lucidity
