how to tell friends

Well, your friend is going to have to find his own way to have one. Tell him about this site if you really want him to have one.
But remember, people aren't always going to understand Lucid Dreaming. My mother still thinks Sleep Paralysis means you get possesed by some demon. :roll:
Keep in mind, you can't change peoples opinions, though you can try.
I just don't tell anyone anymore because everyone laughs and says it's stupid.

hes intrested in it , he just doesnt understand it. but i recon as soon as anyone has one they will be intrested in it

That's probablly true. Lucid dreams are extremely fascinating. :)
Give him the link to this site so that he can read the homepage, because it explains it better then most other sites. Tell him to have a look around the forums and try what would work best for him.

Yeah, I would say the best thing is to give him a note with a link to this site on it.

Lucid dreaming is something that I am extremely open about. I've told my parents about it, my co-workers, and my friends.

Most people will be very curious about it, and almost half of the people I have told have come back to me a week later saying, "DUDE! I just had a lucid dream last night, and I did the hand rubbing thing and the spinning around trick just like you told me and it was awesome!"

Don't be afraid to tell your friend all about it. If the concept towards it isn't cool enough for him, then you enthusiasm towards it will surely interest him.

I guess I always start it off on a common ground. Everyone dreams, so I would start out by telling them about this kick ass dream I was having. Like erm, "Dude, I had this dream last night that I was in class, and this big freaking monster came crashing through the wall!"

Then I would mention what it was that made me lucid, but don't give it a name yet,

"I was a bit taken aback, and I remember thinking, "Err, yeah, that's not normal! I must be dreaming! Huh! And I'm still dreaming! Kick ass! So, what can I do?" And so on.

See how receptive they are to the story. Read their expressions. From there, you can decide whether to go on about how you've heard about lucid dreaming and maybe direct them here. If they seem to reject the notion, then shrug it off. It doesn't hurt to tell someone about one dream. If you're worried the person will blow you off, then shrug off the dream with them and remember that they just may not share the same kind of open mindedness about dreaming as you do.

just don't bother telling them if they are completely closed to the concept.
