Involuntary LD's!

Lately, I haven't been attempting to LD at all. First, because I used to get really scared because I ALWAYS have a couple or more false awakenings. But yesterday was AMAZING! I was just sleeping normally, didn't wake up before, it just came like a dream. I fell asleep at 1:30 approx. & I think I woke up kind of like at 4 but just after LDing. I totally took control of my dream! I flied, I almost had sex, I walked through glass doors and windows, I killed a man who threatened the village with just my finger (it was laser) & then decided to make everyone have a candy fight! It was so cool!
So, anyways, does anybody know why, all of a sudden, I had involuntary LD's (I had a couple of them 2 weeks ago). Really, nothing changed that I'm aware of.

LDs can happen by themselves. Many think a huge part of lucid dreaming is believing you can have a lucid dream, and little else.
This morning I decided I wanted to LD. All I did was fall asleep and I had one with no effort. Kinda feel like I didn't deserve it, considering all of these people who have been trying to have one for months and have had no luck yet.

Before finding this site, all of my LD's were "involuntary." I had no idea one could induce them! It's just what Loaf said. Just believing and knowing that they can happen :)

Actually, I think that at least half of the people on DV don't "try" to LD. This is quite a common occurence. Not to the average person, but to those that know about LD's and such, and especially for those that have had them before. If you've had one before through any way, then you're likely to get another. The more you've had the more likely you'll get one on a given day.

And, also, "what they said" ;)

I've never had a voluntary lucid dream. Also, I've never tried to have a voluntary lucid dream.

The most memorable funny lucid dream I had was a dream with Freddy Kreugar. A quarter of the way into the dream, I gained complete control of the dream by becoming aware. It sure sucked to be Freddy Kreugar.

lol, wrong context. I kicked Freddy Kreugar's ass. When I became aware, he felt angry. Then he started feeling robotic, by pointlessly stabbing me in the chest over and over. Though initially hilarious, he became boring.

Same thing happened just this morning. I haven't had a lucid in a while (though I wouldn't consider this a "dry spell") and just figured, if I want a lucid more than I usually do on any given morning, I'm going to have one. Well, that happened this morning when I attempted a WILD. I had a DILD, and it was nice. :)

My brain seems to work on a delay. If I spend a whole day or two focusing on lucid dreaming, nothing will happen that night, but I may have spontaneous lucid dreams a week later. It is quite reliable, and seem to be consistent around 5-7 days. This is something I've only noticed recently. Subject matter from a week ago seems to be recycled, too.

Yes, I've noticed that too. I can focus on something - an image etc - and intend to dream about it but it doesn't appear in a dream until a few days later.

I wonder if anyone's done any research on that?
