WANTED: Project Leader

We're seeking a project leader to take over the lucid dream book project. Due to time constraints, Naiya and I are no longer able to run it efficiently. If no one (qualified) volunteers to take it over in a week, we'll dismantle the forum altogether and remove it from the board.

Run Down: The project is about 60 - 70% complete. The information presented there is free to use FOR the book project, not outside of it. You will need to send PM's to the current staffers there to see who's still on board. Depending on how that turns out, you may have to re-hire a completely new crop of staff (I will work with you to get you setup and going with this and other minor things). You'll just have to read through the threads, find out what's in there and what it's lacking, organize your team, and get it published into a PDF book (publishing an actual book is not necessary).

Project Leader Position: You'll have hiring, firing, last say, and organization powers within the forum. You can promote team leaders and assign / delegate duties as you see fit. You will also be working closely alongside a DV staff member so that every action you want done is handled promptly.

Qualifications Needed:

- Managerial skills
- Basic (or higher) knowledge of lucid dreaming
- Enthusiasm
- Ability to complete a task once begun

Arghh... I wish I had the right skills/time for a book project.

Can someone not do this? I really would love for DV to have a book.

Don't you think a week is too soon? Someone on vacation or something wouldn't have a chance at all - at lease wait a month.
I wish I could - I don't have the time.

We need to keep what's already done for the furute, even if this dies out now, eventually discussion may come up about going back and finishing it...it'd be a damn shame to let all that work go to waste, and not to mention how awesome would that be if we got a finished book together?

Theres not much of a point, as a realist i can say that nobody will do it, most of all because they are not being payed for there work. If they are that type they probably would just skip over DV and be making there own book.

You would kind of be a fool to write someone a book so they can get rich for free.

I think, it needs to be filed away for now, as a writer (not yet published, nor finished) i know how writers can get into "Rutts" and how this type of thing (writing a large manuscript) can way on the writer(s) drive and inspiration reserve.

I would absolutely love to see this through, but responsibilities too many never see quality work, or needed time. I really hope someone can step in and take it up.

Also on a side note, these recruitments are showing DV's growth is progressing.

The original purpose of the book was to make it paperback and have it sold in big name book stores (how the revenue was to be shared was airy). As we progressed, we realized an electronic book would be better. I can pretty much say that if the book were to be completed, it'd be offered as a free e-book, through dreamviews.

IF you guys are desperate... I have lots of time on my hands and I might be able to take over... If someone else runs this project with me.

I do hope so, if its sold for a big profit there will be allot of anger among members of who gets what royalties for there work.

Also on a cheeky note, what stops someone becoming project leader, taking all the work and producing there own book before DV and selling it to the big names, then trashing the project here to make it seem legitimately as if DV was trying to steal the idea from said author.

If i was not such a nice guy i probably would do this and you guys would not know what hit you until my book shows up at your local store and your scratching your heads.

At this point, there were way too many authors to make a decent profit off of it anyway. And as far as the content presented so far within the forum is concerned, it's under copyright. Every old post and new posts within that forum is actually. :shadewink:

Cant copywrite forum posts, this is only possible if all the members sign a ULA when signing up to DV that states that everything they post is property of DV, kind of like what facebook has done. If this is the case with DV then lots of peoples artwork would automatically become DV's and that would suck.

Also even if you did have a ULA you would not be able to protect anything, because Lucid Dreaming is fairly common knowledge and so are the techniques, so if you want to go that way you should send message to all the people that have wrote books about the subject and tell them to pay your royalties, i don't care what you guys think you have. I know for sure its not legally binding.

There are ways of protecting your interests though.

Why not just leave it in the public domain, letting anyone quote from it? Nobody is getting money from it anyway.

Again... I would be very excited to take over... But seeing that I'm not as exprienced in lucid dreamng I'd suggest having several people run the project... I'd be happpy to be one of em :)

It's not organized enough to where something like that would be viable. Plus, it defeats the purpose of organizing it into an e-book. >_o

I don't know very much about your project but I was thinking about it and how it needed a USP (You may already have one - I apologise if you have, but as I say, I haven't had time to look into the book project very much).

This is what I think would appeal to me as a USP, and what would, if it appeared in a book in a shop - or on an ebook - would make me want to read the book:

Base the book on ETWOLD. ETWOLD is the "foundation", if you like. Everything in the book is an expansion on the teachings in ETWOLD. So, say for example, the section on 61 point relaxation: the book would show how different people have used 61PR, problems they have experienced and overcome, and - probably the most important point - show how people have adapted and improved 61PR for themselves.

I think anything new developed by LDers since the publication of ETWOLD should be able to fit the ETWOLD structure in some way. So, something like FILD would probably feature in the WILD section. Something like reverse blinking would fit in the relaxation section.
