Sleepy or not that sleepy?
Hi, I am a newbie, and have only had one lucid dream ever. It's actually quite a silly story. I frequently have dreams that I can dunk(as in dunk a basketball) and every time I have the dream, I think, "wow, I can actually dunk now, I guess I can just jump extra high for some reason today" or i am simply skeptic about the height of the basketball goal. I suppose my short whiteness causes these dreams. Anyways, I was having a dream in which I was slamming it on an outdoor goal in someone's driveway, and a red truck was driving by in the street behind me. I stopped the man driving and told him to watch me. He seemed startled and confused but he watched. I took the basketball and ran up and tomahawked it, but missed the dunk. Either way, it was still an impressive attempt, I ran back to the man in the car and began to tell him that I was only 5'9" and that I had never dunked before, and that I had always had dreams before in that I could but now I actually could. As soon as I said the word dream I became completely conscious and realized I was dreaming. I quickly became very excited because I had always craved a good lucid dream before, but the world around me began to go white, and I felt like I was falling forward. After a few seconds of constant falling forward I woke up in my bed. That was a few months ago and I haven't had a lucid dream since, but now I am going to start trying harder to induce them, with frequent reality checks during the day, and more often dream recollection. Of course I will be focusing on lucid dreaming before going to sleep as well. Any tips? And I am curious as to whether or not lucid dreaming is easier to take place if you are really really tired when you go to sleep, or no too tired. Or if that is a factor at all. I'd love some feedback.
