*IMPORTANT* A Question *IMPORTANT*

Hey All.

I have this question that has been on my mind since I have started dreaming and doing all of this cool stuff :D .

After my dreams and my one lucid dream, I did not feel as if I was in the moment. It's a bit hard to explain, but I didn't feel as if I was there, kind of like that I just watched a movie, but it all happened as if I didn't actually "be" in the dream conciously or something like that... Its like, I went to sleep and I woke up, and I didn't remember being in the dream itself at all. Like actually being inside of it as a moment in time, somehow I did not keep track of time itself, but obviosly time doesn't exist in dreams. However, I am having trouble putting the question on the dot, and actually saying it because I am trying to describe as best I can.

If I had to summerize the question it would probably be:

Why don't I feel like I am a part of the dream, and actually feel like I am "living" inside the dream?

I still feel as if I am a spectator and I am not actually "the" dream,

Any thoughts?

Levels of awareness vary, even when awake. Learn to ask questions to be answered in the Lucid dreamstatee itself. One will learn better.

Thanks Mr. Philosopher, I didn't make the connection the awareness... I have no Idea why, but I was thinking about awareness but not in relation to this question.

Awareness is an exercise in will. It also determines the amount of integration and distinction between the self and the environment.

Awareness is composed of both domain and range--the number of body senses you dream in, and the clarity of that sense.

As far as asking questions go, we often ask a question of that which cannot answer it because it is not the answer to the question that we seek.

Looks like your question was answered, CV. :) Glad to see you've made progress in lucid dreaming - I remember when I first saw you around the boards, and you've come a pretty good ways since then.

Since Philosopher's identified why you didn't feel like you were "living" inside the dream, I'll say what you can do within the lucid dream to feel like you're living inside it. Once you've attained enough awareness of yourself and your surroundings, focus on the environment and everything around you, using ALL of your senses. Engage your ears, move your limbs around, feel the air hitting your hands as you swing them calmly around you, take a deep breath, change your perspective (as in, climb up on a table or crawl under a chair, maybe stick your head outside a door and look around, something like that that changes your altitude or visual angle). Keep paying attention to these things until they've gained so much visual detail that it's like you're experiencing the world in your waking state. Worked for me!
