What would YOU! Rather do

Hi i wanted to ask this question to see if any of you out there would go as far as staying in a dream if you had the choice i realized while in a dream that id rather be in it than in real life i mean you can decide what you want in it you dont have to worry about anything bad happening to you, you could just decided you wanted to fly anywhere you could make up your own mates anything you wanted and while in the dream and this dream is so real its like being in real life but you can do whatever YOU want so the question is there Would you rather stay in the real world and put up with what it brings you or stay in your own happy land where eveything will always be ok and you can do whatever you have always dreamed of doing if you wanted to stay in real life tell me why and vice versa with staying in the dream.

Welcome

Welcome JohnnyRocker

Your question reminds me of Vanilla Sky -The movie.

Wow. If I get to thinking about this it would all be determined wether or not I was Lucid. If I were Lucid, I could control my surroundings to a degree. But in contrast by being Lucid you would also know it is just a dream and therefore just a manifestation of the mind. So in that case as much as I like Lucid Dreaming I would have to not throw away my real life.

Now if you were in a dream and were not lucid, you would not no it anyway. But who is to say that is not our real life now.
If somehow it was brought to my attention, like in Vanilla sky, I again would have to choose my waking life.

Good question though.

Hmm! You'v given me something to think about on this Sunday morning! Thank you!

As much fun as it is dreaming, I'd have to say that I'd chose awake. It's fun to be able to fly and control stuff around me, but, waking life contains so many more challenges!

yes but that dosent mean that there aren't challenges in LD's either very few people are able to completely control their dreams and if the challenge consist of moving a city to get to work on time it seem more interesting than just rushing down the street to get to work on time there is a constant variety in LD's where as life can become monotonous within months

i choose LD's

I'd rather stay in a lucid dream.
I figure I'd be alive forever in a LD, as opposed to living to 72 and dying in real life. And real life seems really boring at the moment (I may change my mind when I graduate from high school or something special like that.) So, yeah... I'd pick the LD and do whatever I feel like whenever I want.

I would think if your entire time was spent in a lucid dream you could quickly gain the powers to control your dream scenario. Look at what we gain witht he little time we do have in that realm.
And again I reiderate the fact that since you are lucid what validity would you have to your life if you were aware that it was merely a dream?

It would have to be a realy great dream to wana stay in it forever. Id like to be able to mix it up an call in an outta dreaming an the waking world as I choose.
I love waking up after a realy long dream an feeling like ive had a break from the waking world, but have gained some knowledge from my dreaming that I can use in the waking.

I would like to stay in a lucid dream all my life but that is not why I was put on this planet and besides sometimes I like the solid world because in my dreams everything is always changing and everyone I talk to is realy me and doesent realy have a mind of there own so every thing they say is just what I tell them to say. So I like life the way it is.

Wow, tough question, Johnny...

Well, given what I believe about life, I'd also have to say awake, for Seeker's reason, and because I wouldn't want to be stuck in one world and be dead to another.

I wanna be in a big bowl of spaghetti, next to a glass of milk, and soon to be juxtaposed with a glass of red wine.
An idea is something you haven't fully considered.
A belief is merely a repetitive thought.
A conclusion is simply where you stopped thinking.

Come to think of it , it was quite a stupid question because if u choose to stay in the dream world for ever you would end up dieing in real life so then your mind would die and you would have no life to live at all.

It would suck living in a dream forever - sure, flying and doing incredible things when you LD sounds cool, but if you spent the rest of your life there then it would eventually get boring, just like things in real life do. The downside would also be that you would know that its fake, that the people are fake, that nothing you could ever accomplish would ever matter to anyone no matter what it was.

Almost as bad as real life, huh?

I dont see how doing anything you have ever wanted can ever get boring there would be endless things that you would have always wanted to do and cant in real life

Everything would be fake but i mean its your dream im sure you make your own life much beter than one with in real life real life has so many rules making life as boring as u can get it in your dream there are no rules and you have the whole wide world all to your self even go to a different planet if u wished real life is already as fake as fake can get try the dream world fake wont matter a thing .

I would take waking life hands down. A non-stop lucid dream would be like Christmas everyday. It sounds like a great idea, but would soon become a living (or in this case dreaming) hell.

life always

In life the experiences are hard to deal with but that's what makes us grow as people, how we deal with those experiences. LDing is a useful tool for that but still only a tool and not a replcement for real experiences with real variables that you are not controlling. And I'm a married woman who is dearly in love with her husband and the question for me is simple, I choose my husband.

I'd prefer staying in the waking world. I would love to LD more frequently, but LDing is best enjoyed in moderation.
