Yes, I've done this at a friends house before.
(I'm always more likely to have Lucid dreams when I'm not in a familiar environment.)
She told me in the morning that I was calling for somebody and yelling 'Increase clarity', but she was to busy listening to wake me up and tell me. :\
Embarrassing..
Yes,it is embarrassing but worth it for sure. Fortunately my wife understands LDing and has had a few herself.
It is hard to explain to friends,I can understand why you prefer not to talk about it. But you never know, others may keep
quiet about it too. I recently discovered that a coworker of mine is into LDs and OBE stuff too.Now we share techniques and stuff, when no one else is near of course : ) I'll have to ask her if her husband has caught her yelling commands.
I have tried explaining to a few friends, but they all seem to think it's funny or stupid.. They don't really understand. I tell my family, although they don't really understand it, they do listen and act interested.
It's good you have someone to talk about LD's and OBE's with. :)
I've done this before, on purpose. Once, a while back, my dad approached my bed and asked if I was awake. Somehow it got through to me in the dream though, so I replied to him with the intention of speaking out loud (I didn't say I was in a dream, I just asked what he wanted). He asked a question and I answered it and then went on in the lucid dream. I never once woke up then, but when I did I asked about it and it turned out I really had spoken out loud!
Unfortunately I haven't been able to do it again since then...
Daydreamer14,you are right.I am lucky to be able to explain it to a few people around me. It is just one of those things that
someone has to experience on their own to really get.
Live In The Dream
That is really interesting.I think of that as split awareness.I can relate to that story. There have been a few times that I have become aware of noises and people in my environment [opening my BR door, getting things from drawers etc..]and have been able to consciously chose to deepen my focus in the LD and stay asleep. I've never been able to verbally
interact with them though...that's pretty impressive focus you had there...
lol, I told a lot of friends about LD, I also talk to friend a lot about it since a few friends are doing(trying) it too
I don't know if I ever spoke while dreaming, but one ime when I slept at a friend's he talked in his sleep(I was still awake because he went asleep pretty early by my measurements, so I was listening to my ipod when I suddenly heard hm talking, I put down the ipod and asked him what he said, when it turned out he was talking in his sleep, said it to him the next morning but he said he didnt remmber it)

It's a funny thing.Years ago I would party with a friend and his brother often. After many beers his brother would pass out then get up and sleep walk-talk. You could even have a limited, nonsensical conversation with him. He would do irrational things, like once he went on a mission to urinate on the neighbor's doorstep LOL. He wouldn't remember any of it the next day.
Makes me wonder:where is the self reflective conscious mind during things like this? I think sometimes, outwardly, behavior like this seems strange to observers. But within the subject's own context [like talking out in a LD] it is all perfectly rational. But in certain cases like my friend's brother,or say a schizophrenic or autistic ,they may be limited by lack of memory or are simply unable to convey or translate their personal experience to others in a normal way.
