Flying Pointers
Hey Guys,
Well I've read Stephen LaBerge's Exploring the World of Lucid Dreaming and have been keeping a dream journal for a couple months and within the last week have had 2 lucid nights of dreaming.
Last night/This morning I was lucid for quite some time in my dream. The only thing I can't seem to get down is flying. I've had about 8 lucid experiences in my life and 4 within the last week (3 one night and one long one last night) but I can never seem to get fully into flight. I can jump like I'm on the moon, also last night I managed to get a good 15 to 20 feet of altitude before floating back down to the ground but I can never manage to stay aloft. Is this just something I have to practice more? Or does anyone have any advice on this?
Thanks so much!

well my buddy who has only ever had maybe two lucid dreams told me what he did was to imagine butterflies in his stomach... that made him lift off and gain altitude and if he lets the feeling fade he would float down... if he lets it go entirely he would just drop. basically the intensity of the butterfliy feeling controlled everything about his flying.
I on the other hand just stand completely straight with my armms to my side and slowly pull them outward and I just imagine the feeling of what it would be like to actually fly and I soar through the air with no problems.
P.S. you don't need practice - this is a dream and you can do ANYTHING! the first time I tried to fly, I flew. the first time my friend tried, he flew... it just comes down to believeing you can and finding what works for you!

Well first off, I don't jump to fly. I just start flying. At first you will probably float as thats easier. Don't be discouraged if you can only go so high (if its 20 feet or whatever). Just be comfortable with maintaining that height. You might start drifting down but don't let that kill your confidence. I find its important to concentrate on my head and not my whole body. Your body will follow your head. The big thing is to stay calm the whole time. If you are relaxed it is easier. Then with practice you will get better at it.

I like riding in elevators with windows so I can see outside - like the ones from shopping malls.
While riding the elevator I try to remember and reinforce the experience of lifting force under my feet. Then while dreaming I get the same sensation to happen in my mind while in an LD.
There are a few other examples here too
