Sorry to be blunt and rude but how did you miss this?

I think he means how different people do a a RC independently.
I myself begin with asking the question, Am I dreaming?
Then I try to poke my pinger trough my hand, then I count my fingers and last I pinch my nose and try to breath.
Ooh, I see. Well as it happens I do more or less the exact same thing as Desertfox, except in a different order.
for reality checking, i first think "i'm dreaming" then i think "i must do a rc" then i try to breathe while holding my fingers over my nose.then i count my fingers and try to pull my finger to see if it becomes longer. then i rub my hands and i think "more clairity"
i don't really feel like i'm doing something effective. i also don't question my environment very often. should i just keep doing this? i don't want to become immune or do more bad than good.
Oh I just start checking the weight of my own body, if its ok, awake, if it isn't, dreaming.
I usually pinch my nose and try to breath as well, sometimes I also pink my palm with a finger))
Can someone tell me if this is a good one. Every hour, I look at my hand that says "Dream" on it two or three times. If it changes than I'm dreaming.
Because text never stays the same in a dream.
Usually I get an intuition that something isn't normal and decide I should check if I'm dreaming. The nose plug is my reality check of choice and, as of yet, it hasn't failed me.
It's my favorite because its and easy and discrete way to reality check around others. Instead of worrying that others will think I'm strange for counting my fingers every 20 minutes I just pretend I have an itch of my nose and do a quick plug as I bring my fingers down.
:shadewink:
Everyone is different but, if you ask me, that method sounds like it has a lot of room for error. I've had dreams where I've read things, so I can imagine it would fail every once in a while. Keep at it to see how it works for you, but also adopt on of the simpler methods just to be safe.
I kind of agree with you, once I had a dream and I looked at my hand - and, there was nothing on my hand, but I didn't become lucid. I didn't even look back to see if the text changed, so maybe I'll try your method.
i find the nose pinch a good method but i haven't got many opportunities yet so i can't say about other methods.
i personally like the finger through the palm RC, it has always worked for me, although i think i'll start doing the "gravity rc", i have noticed that i don't feel my weight in my lucids, thats a good one walms!
I'm usually bad at reality checks, if I'm not lucid already I just go with it. For some reason if I ask myself I'm dreaming? doesn't work! If I hold my nose I just unintentionally imagine that I'm not getting oxygen. If I turn on lights I imagine a change on lighting. If I try to do anything involving controlling my body outside the dream path, It just doesn't work for me. But last night, after watching Inception, (and this may sound like a simple no brainier) I ended up in a dream where a fleeting thought of maybe somethings off came out. I decided to think how did I get to walking outside? I could not come up with any idea, not one! It worked! Very short tho as the thought that advice that came a movie about dreams giving me a lucid dream, was apparently hilarious and I cracked up till I woke up all of 10 seconds latter. LoL thank you Nolan for the advice.
I always count my fingers. Sometimes I look around for some text. My hands are a pretty reliable reality check. They always look and feel weird in dreams.
I have no idea how I become lucid, it just randomly happens but these all sound like good RCs, so I ll give them a try.
I myself find it hard to actually question whether or not I am dreaming. I think I should ask my self the question but I don't believe in the question. except for when I have just woken up and usually I have.
I also think it is hard to question reality.
Flip the lightswitch on and off. For some reason the lightbulb never responds in my dream. Another thing I'll do is 'crank the volume' on what someone is saying, up or down. If I can 'crank it up louder', or put them on 'mute', definitely dreaming. Jump and see how far I go up(this seems a little similar to the 'dream gravity' RC that Walms mentioned). Never tried the nosepinch or 'poking finger through', good idea. I also do a double take when I'm reading a book or see text in my peripheral vision; shift focus, look again, does it now say something else? Dreaming. Then there's just common sense like, 'Did that sentence make any grammatical sense whatsoever? No, but I still understand it? Probably dreaming.'
I had a dream dis morning and when I tried to do the look at my hand and try to change the number, it didn't work because there was no number. So
I decided to do the hand in hand trick, but that didn't work either. Instead of going through, it hit the other hand like it would in reality. I remember saying "Darn, I hope I don't wake up." Witch is a good thing because I was asleep longer. But I didn't become lucid at all. The next time I try to do the change number trick that I do, If there is no number then I'm dreaming. I think the reason it's never there is because I wash my hands and it always fades away. If you guys have any tips I'd appreciate it if you could give me some advice.
I always tell myself that I'm dreaming, it is what i tell myself before i do an RC and after the RC, even when I am really awake. is this good?
I pinch my nose...If I can breath, I am dreaming.
I don't do reality checks anymore because they don't help me at all. When I have a lucid dream I just come to a sudden realization and it's completely random.
I usually look at my hand, if it looks weird then I know I'm dreaming. To double-check I look around at my surroundings to see if there's anything un-usual. Also, when using a bathroom (the doors and stalls are usually different in my dream, that's where I get most of my lucids) and flipping light switches I always do a RC.
