Is this a step forward or a step backwards??

Been here for a few weeks now and am still trying to have my first LD. I've been keeping a dream journal every night. before i started trying to LD i would very rarely remember my dreams, maybe one every six months. since i started trying to LD my dream recall has gone up significantly. started at 1 per night for the first week, then went up to 2 per night sometimes 3, and last night i remembered 4.
now heres my problem. when i could only remember 1 dream per night, they were very vivid. i could recall ALOT of detail in my dream, i could write an entire page easily in my dream journal. Once i started recalling 3 or 4 of my dreams per night, the detail of those dreams went WAY down. i can only remember bits and peices of each of them without any great detail.
so in short, i am remembering more dreams but they are less detailed and less vivid. Is this a step forward or a step backwards for someone learning to LD???

It's normal to happen. Every step, in my opnion, is forward, never backwards, in lucid dreaming. It usually happens to me, I recall various dreams, or fragments at least, most of time, like you.
Just keep writing them, your recall will only get better in time.

Do you write BEFORE you go to sleep or after you wake up ? My results are much better (in terms of lucidity and recall), when I write them after I wake up.

Are you writing down your dreams right after you wake up? That should be the very first thing you do every morning so important details don't slip away.
You're clearly doing way better than you were a few weeks ago, right? Don't worry about forgetting small details and stuff. You're recall is good (better than most), so just keep pushing forward!

Your "vividity" will go back up with practice. It can only help. :)

Remembering more than 1 dream a night is more than a win in my book.
