Are you keeping a journal? I've been keeping one for about the past... 4 days or so? I have to admit, it's working. My dreams are more vivid, i'm recalling about three dreams per night (although my recall was good to begin with). But I remember so much more details. I feel so close... I just something to set it off :)
Remember to only do reality checks when you see something odd, or when you feel like you're dreaming. Or when you wake up, to make sure you aren't having a FA.
Not the best advice because I'm a newbie, but I feel like it's working. Just look over the basics and believe you can do it, belief is everything!
Yeah, keeping a journal is essential to the process.
Also when it comes to motivation, simply look to the reward system! I think the biggest problem with a timely discipline like learning to lucid dream is just that, the fact that we make it a discipline. We keep the rewards far away in the distant future. I find the trick is to make each moment of the practice a reward. Feeling good and satisfied about each dream we have, and feeling a distinct sense of progress for every dream we record. If you have a dry spell or feel stuck, don't get discouraged. It all comes down to our taking the actual lucidity part too seriously and losing sight of the rest of the joys of dreaming. I mean in the end its all about fun right? Just keep up with the RCs and the journal entries without thinking too much about 'progress' or the future, and before you know it your connection to the dreamworld will be very strengthened. Then lucidity is right around the corner :).
Maybe I should copy my dream journal to the forum so while i rewrite them i gain more motivation and i can look for dream signs in them.
Keep it up, man.
Last year, when I started (middle of the year, June I think), I dind't had a single LD that year (tough I was reading a poor book - dind't knew about the forums and the book by Dr. LaBerge). This year, when I discovered the forums and better books, I'm improving. I think that, just like me, you'll need more time (not a year, but one more month, for example).
I just finished transferring some more dreams from my DJ to the DV's DJ.:cheeky:
I'm going to bed now, and I will finally have my first LD tonight.:panic:
There are some more interesting dreams that I will post tomorrow, hopefully with my LD and normal dreams from tonight!
That's the spirit! :D Keep it up!
I agree with this. I find that many of my non-lucid dreams can be very rewarding as well. Dream consciousness is not just a matter of knowing or not knowing that you are dreaming. It is being generally more aware of the dreaming and waking state. I've found that my regular dreams have become more realistic and wonderful since I started practicing lucid dreaming. This is because I've started to pay a lot more attention to all of my dreams. Continue to write down your dreams and remember that you can take something out of each and every dream that you have. Dreams, irrespective of lucidity, are powerful experiences.
I still write my dreams every day, when I had a dream, I lay in my bed thinking of them and then i put some keywords in my ipod, and when I go to bed, that day, i write them in my DJ, and i usually remember almost the whole dream that i remembered that morning.
also, it has been 2 nights in a row that my cat died in a dream...
thats ironic because your picture is a cat...
thats besides the point! have you tried a MILD? or a DEILD? maybe even a WILD? well you should because sometimes some techniqes dont work for people. mine is MILD. i dont do reality checks i just use my "mantra". maybe to help your motavation you could join me in my 90 day MILD experiment located here http://www.dreamviews.com/f32/beginn...90-days-99977/
further more you can add me as a friend so that we can continue to motavate eachother :) it a lot easier to do with friends!!!
you could try meditating before bed (i find binaral beats help clear your mind)
JUST DONT GIVE UP!
practicing for a month now huh?
I guess everyone completes dreaming in a different manner, and it takes longer for some.
I've read many guides it always seems like a long arduous process.
Well i have never recalled. I'm also new since i joined on the 19th July. The first 2 nights i recalled vividly. The past 2 nights i haven't recalled anything but i'm sure i'm somehow improving, so I think i'm going to try CAT and after 2 weeks try join the DVA =)
Don't lose hope! It is good to remember that your LD will most likely occur near the beginning of deep sleep. Your brain goes from Alpha (relaxed) to Theta (daydreamy) to Delta (sleep) brainwaves. It is in the Theta brainwave state that you can will yourself to a lucid dream. Try to visualize a particular scenario while in the Theta brainwave state. P.S. You are probably having more then 1 dream a night... you just can't recall the others. Whatever you do , don't take sleeping pills. That will almost assure you of no LD.
Per Dr. LaBerge's book, I think it's understated that you can't just write the dream down and never reflect upon it again. Why don't you try creating lists of dream signs. Go through all of you dreams and underline all of the dream signs. Then create categories for the dreams signs and categorize them. Use inner awareness (personal feelings), action (things you or characters do), form (you shape, characters shape, or object/setting shape. Also if you're someone else), and context (People and things in strange places, or you're someplace you wouldn't be). Like I said, this is from LaBerge's book so a more detailed look can be found there, but it's useful because it gets you really thinking about dream signs on a inquisitive level.
nothing works anymore, I just wanted to write down the 3 dreams that i remember from this morning, so i look at the keywords in my ipod, and it seems that i have again forgotten a dream. i had the same problem yesterday, i looked at my keywords and there were some that i couldn't remember :(
maybe i should start writing my dreams down in the morning instead of in the evening. i usually never have problems with this...
i remember how motivated i was the first days i started learning about LDing... i was very excited about it all but now i'm kinda meh. I STILL WANT TO LD
i really hope the effort i do will pay off one day...
Yes you have to write some keywords on a piece of paper during the night...(enough so you can remember your dream) And you have to copy them as soon as you can in the morning.
I recommend you to copy them as soon as you wake up. This way you are giving a message to your counciousness. ''Help me to remember my dreams, they are important to me. Look, copying them is the first thing I do in the morning!''
I hope you know what I mean!:|
Yeah, write them in the morning. Every time I write at evening or night, my recall will be all messed up (it's not that great already, even that I write dreams every day).
As I said for you, I worked more than half a year for the first one, you need more time. Keep practicing. Try new ways and techniques.
I find that as soon as I wake up from a dream, it helps if I write it down (in detail) straight away. Sure, it's the last thing I want to do but once my lamp's on and I've got a pen in my hand it's actually kind of nice
I think this is best, it's fresh and you remember nearly all the details. The other morning I had a clear dream, but I rolled over and went to sleep because I'd stayed up late (damn friends :D ). I was sure I'd remember it, so I rolled over and went back to sleep. I was really really wrong... I remembered my previous dream, but not the other one. It kinda shocked me because I remembered thinking about it for awhile and I tried really hard to remember what it was but I just couldn't. If only I'd written it down!
Use a voice recorder...That's what i do now. Won't wake me up too much and still be very detailed.
Theres too much here for me to bother to read through, but have you tried a different method? Sometimes it takes a while to find something that works for you.
I had so much trouble trying to remember my dreams that my Dream Journal was left neglected for weeks at a time. Any dreams I happened to remember were very confused, weak and mixed up, as though they'd been put though a dream shredder!!!
I found the problem! If I go to bed too late, I can forget about trying for LDs because the Brain chemistry will not be geared towards it, in other words, it'll be sleeping far too heavy (comotosed) to remember any dreams at all (even LDs)!!
I've been trying for 12 months, I don't get many LDs (I've had 5 mini ones), but I do experience wonderful, vivid dreams...which is a good start!!
Thought I'd mention this, as I see that you're about to try LD at 11.29PM (12.29pm where You are). I'm no expert and still a novice, but by the fact that you're having trouble recalling your dreams I'd advise regularly going to bed at say 10pm-11pm MAX to give yourself a chance. BUT, we're all different and have varying body clocks, energy levels etc, so you'll need to experiment.
Try drinking a herbal tea before going to bed, like "Tension Tamer", it has B6 and B12 and can/may produce good, vivid dreams!
