Next time I suggest you do the WBTB at the end of your previous dream cycle, if you did it 6 hours into sleep this time, try 4½ next time. Or you can try shortening the WBTB, some people don't have to do WBTB's that are longer than a few minutes. If the thought process itself is what's keeping you awake then doing mantras for a while is enough. You can then just relax and perhaps imagine a nice scenario or visualize yourself becoming lucid, performing your set up task :) Good luck!
thanx for the advice.
last night i slept and my alarm wake me up after 6 hours of sleep...i wanted to try to mild but i just didn't want to...i don't know how to say this but it's like my motivation just vanished...ididn't t had lac0k of motivation when i first slept....but had when i wake up for mild....what can i do to stop this.
It's very common, but all you can do really is to really look forward to it the night before and remind yourself of how awesome it's going to be once you get lucid (and ofcourse you will after the WBTB). It can require quite alot of discipline to wake up when you really don't have to, but it'll be worth it! Read a few DJ entries from someone experienced or watch a superhero movie, you'll be motivated in no time :)
thanx alot....i'll keep that in mind :D
yesterday i set my alarm for the WBTB tech, but it didn't woke me up, it use to wake me up but i was low movitated or too tierd so i didn't do the tech, now that i get my motivation up when i am going to sleep it can't even wake me up,its like my body don't want me to wake up after 4 and a half hour of sleep or somthing.
any advice
but what if your mother languge is the languge that you dream with, but its the comon languge or (streat languge) that i talk with my friend and my family,in my case its a bit of arabic and french, but it's a poor languge, for example the word lucid and the word conscus and the word i will dont exist althought its the most confortobal because i use it every day,the languge that i study with is the real arabic (its a very rich languge for example we can name a lion with 90 name ) and there is a wide number of mantras that i can use,in the other hand i read all the LD related stuff in english,i even had an entire dream in english.
what to use? that's what i am confused about
I also have problems getting up 4½ hours into sleep, when I wake up I'm exhausted. That's why I set my alarm 6 hours into sleep, then I'm sure I can get up. Also replied to your question in PM :)
my recall has vanished,i could remeber up to 2 dream's per night,but now its been 2 night's i didn't remember a singel dream,please hlp
It's completely natural, I once had a week with zero recall. Recall can come and go even though you're not doing anything differently. If you desperately want a dream, you could do a REM rebound and then sleep in the day after.
Don't worry, you'll have a dream or two tonight and if not tonight, the night after that and if not then, the night after that :)
hmmm,i have another question(sorry if botherd you:oops:),how do i know what time does my REM begins to choose the perfect time to WBTB and WILD.
PS
i have a regular sleep schedule
1½, 3, 4½, 6, 7½ and 9 hours into sleep is when your REM is most likely to be ending. Those times are good for WBTB's. You can try a bit earlier than those if you like. But I always use 6 hours into sleep.
When I was in college, most of my test preparation involved hours of cramming the night before the exam. Sometimes when I would try to sleep after this my sleep induction process was dominated be a series of calculus problems or chemical reactions. It was like I had to solve the problems in order to get to sleep. I would need to stop and remind myself that all that this was not required for sleeping. In retrospect, this was probably really awesome for learning the material, but it was also an unpleasant phantasmagoria of stressful problems.
If found out that this phenomenon has a name: the tetris effect (section on Hypnagogia page)

I was wondering if anyone else has experienced this, and if it could be used to induce lucid dreams some how.
I actually didn't know there was a word for this, but yeah I get that all the time whenever I do an activity for a long period of time. Playing a new game for example or watching series all day. Quite amazing thing :) Not sure if you can use it to induce lucid dreams. Perhaps if you did a certain activity for such a long time, while RC'ing all the time and making sure that it becomes a very big Dream Sign for you. You should have atleast one dream about the activity and when you do, you'll RC and get lucid. I have a really hard time falling asleep when this happens though and I wake up several times during the night with crazy hallucinations going on.
Oh wow no kidding I always get that! I think it might be good to do with mild, maybe.... Although I'm not exactly a genius with this stuff :P
I have been realizing that the places in my dreams are fairly reoccurring. When I read through my dream journal I start to remember other dream places from dreams past, and they are all sort of connected in a giant dream map of sorts. I thought it would be a cool idea to document, organize and study these places in a way that really stresses me out. Combine that with MILD and maybe something could happen.
I like your Idea Matte. Maybe Ill make sure to RC a lot when I am doing something really boring and repetitive at work. This could hopefully save me from spending my dreams doing really lame stuff.
i think i almost forget about a LD!!!!!!!!!!!!,i tried WBTB and MILD,woke up with no recall,go to have my breakfast, then i remembered it,not all of it
i was walking when i realized that i was going to sleep just mints ago,i did a RC to be sure this is a dream .....yep it is ,i tried to fly superman style but i couldn't,so i tried swimming tech.
i don't remeber a thing after this, quite odd,i thought that you can't forget LDs :? any explication will be much appreciated.
Lucid Dreams are just like normal dreams to our brains, only when you experience them you're actually trying to remember things you're experiencing. This doesn't guarantee you to recall it though, but I think the biggest reason for them being easier to recall is that you hang on until the end and wake up afterwards. Sometimes I have to struggle to get something with me through the mental "barrier", but most of the times I can. Too long LD's can also result in loss of recall, had a very long LD once and forgot more than half of it.
I normally wake up about twice in the night, around the same time. This usually splits my sleep into 3 roughly equal parts. So WBTB seems like it is a pretty good Idea since i wake up at the right time for it anyways. My question is this: In your personal opinion, what is the best length of time to stay awake? And should I have the lights on or keep them off?
I normally just wake up, write down any dreams I had if I am not too lazy and take a leak. I try to keep the lights off and use my cell phone light to write with.
Any suggestions?
Matte, can you hear anything in your dreams?
I've been wondering about that for a while. :uhm:
I've just have never been able to remember any sounds from my dreams.
