      LabRat's Workbook

Hey all, LabRat here, but you can all call me Stefan. Im a 3rd Year MEdical Science Student at Otago University in New Zealand.

Ive been a member on here a while, but had about 8-9 months offline due to study - so now that Ive finished and have some structure in my life and sleep cycle, Im keen to really get back onto my LDing!

When I first tried LDing this time last year, I was somewhat successful, but noway near full control, so with ambition to get better control, and the fact that I have a very wild imagination and want to experiemtn with a LOT of things in my dreams, Im keen to become a bit of a LD master. Hahaha.

This being my first entry and all, wish me luck. I should update this daily/weekly, depending on my success. Look forward to collaborating with you all.

Short Term goals - Get my lucidity active again.
From here, Ill proceed with Matte's weekly tasks, once again, Ill post my results/findings in here for anyone that wishes to follow my progress.

      Chur!

Hi and welcome to class! You should be able to pick up your skill again quickly with some dedication and clear goals in your mind. If you complete a task please post which one in here, the link aswell or the entry itself and I'll award you with a nice little star

The more practice you get with dream control, the easier it gets. Once you've done something properly, you should be able to do it again the same way. Believe in yourself and also visualize doing the things and that will make it easier.

If you have any questions at all, don't hesitate to ask!

Okay, so finally, after a week of WBTB'ing, with no hope, I did a WBTB this morning, with a 2 hour break. Had an AMAZING lucid dream.

I went to sleep at ~11.30pm, woke up at 5.30 and stayed awake, reading about dreaming etc until 7.30 and went to sleep. I put the SaltCube timer (http://www.saltcube.com/timer.swf)
on to start at 60 minutes, and then trigger at 8, 16, and 20 minute intervals after that.

When the 60minute timer kicked in - it felt as though I had only been lying there for about 30minutes, my body was doing all kinds of strange vibrations and hypnogogic imagery was at an all time high. The timer went off, and I realised how deep into SP I was. (This is where the dream starts)

I started to see a shape take form, it looked like a chromosome, changing from pink, to blue, to green and back to pink, aswell as shaking and shivering across my eyelids. I reached out with my dream arm (note, It was all dark besides the chromosome) and grabbed onto it. It disappeared.

Immediately after, I felt all my limbs start to flail, as if I was falling down an infinitely dark, bottomless cavern. I started thinking "Okay, the dream is about to start, I have to remember to focus. Im dreaming... Im dreaming.."

I was suddenly inside an unfamiliar kitchen, talking to two men, unsure who they were. I realised I was dreaming and told myself to stabilise the dream via activating senses. I knelt down and started to touch the lino floor. I remember saying "Wow. It feels so real!" There was some water on the floor too, I rubbed that in so it spread across the floor. Amazing, haha.

The dream clarity increased 10-fold. Feeling stable enough, I stood up and began to walk out.

Two women from my work came through the door at the end of the kitchen. I said "For fucksakes. Its a weekend, this is my dream and I dont want you here!" and walked past them. I turned around straight away, they had disappeared (Hahahah) Upon opening the door, I was on a beach at some beachside restaurant. There were about 7-8 people outside, sitting at tables. The sky was slightly grey and the ocean somewhat choppy and violent. It was here that I decided to try flying.

I stepped up on a table and told myself I was going to fly. I jumped. I noticed that I was the air for a ever-so-slightly longer time than I normally would have been, other than that, I just landed on the ground.

Being still very lucid at this point, I reassured myself - "No. This is a dream. MY dream. Anything is possible."
I relaxed and stared at the distant mountain, put my hands at my side and started to focus on flying.

Here, I noticed all the people around me had stopped talking and were all staring at me, silently.

I relaxed even further, realised I had now obtained all the power and began to rise. The more I rose, the faster I got. Until within about 10 seconds, I was in the upper atmosphere, with ever increasing height and speed. I was laughing with joy at this point. I looked forwards, the Moon, growing closer and closer. I noticed I couldnt control my speed, so I put my fist out, flew straight into the Moon, blowing it up.

Ecstatic, I lost control and the dream faded.

SO damn excited to do this again tomorrow morning!

I realise now I have to keep reminding myself I am dreaming. And also to engage my senses much more, so I can appreciate the dream environment more. (I think everything seemed grey and boring because I was more focused on touch?)

(Note - Engaging the senses are my main concern at the moment, so thats Touch down, 4 to go!)

Wow that's an amazing lucid! Sight and touch is the two I usually activate while I sing. I haven't been able to fly into space before, I'm jealous! Star awarded for flying. Keep it up and I hope to see you tonight in chat.

Currently up at 4am - doing 2 hours of dream-reading before trying another WBTB - excited as hell. Thought I would write here some scenarios that Im really keen to induce if I become lucid.

      Fantasy-themed

Star Wars Jedi scenario - with spacecraft. []
      Mass Effect with Normandy []
      Doctor Who with TARDIS []
      Harry Potter []
Inception with a mind heist []
      Gears of War []
      Star Trek []
      Iron Man []

      Creative-themed

Create a sci-fi scenario to transfer to screenplay in waking life []
Observe a music-only short film to reproduce in waking life []
Visit my subconcious's art gallery to find inspiration for my next painting []
Find my Dream Guide, probe questions regarding my inner-being, my subconscious. []
Create a clone that thinks exactly as I do, and explore my mind with him. []

My recall has been slightly above average this week (had some stress related to money and bills etc.) but have been amping myself up for this night, the one of two night I can actually have a decent sleep in, so hopefully all goes well. Will post last this morning if all goes well.

So, earlier this morning, after my 2 hours of being awake, 4.30-6.30am, I had a decent length lucid dream, with an extremely short lucid at the beginning.

I used the SaltCube time once again, although Im convinced I dont need it - 2 hours feels like a good amount of time to wake up and engage my mind in thinking solely about dreaming, so will try it without the timer tomorrow morning.

The first lucid, which only last a couple of seconds, grew from a prior non-lucid dream. Cannot quite remember the dream prior, but eventually I clicked that I was dreaming - the scene suddnely changed. I was outside on my street. It was empty, dark and cold. I started shaking, losing stability, looked up at the sky and the Moon came hurtling towards me. I soon woke up.

Upon waking, I stayed completely still and closed my eyes. Eventually, I felt my limbs start to flail again, exactly like my lucid last weekend. I was falling down the rabbit hole, preparing myself.

My eyes opened, I was naked on the floor of an empty room, in an unfamiliar house. I told myself to stabilise the dream, so I rubbed my hands on the carpet and stood up. I found a mirror in which I observed my reflection which was downright amazing (and I can also tick it off my to do list!)

I walked up a flight of stairs and outside to the driveway. Here, I slightly lost lucidity, there were a lot of my friends and music. I was still aware that I was dreaming, but not as much.
I sat down and started talking to my friend Berj - my main focus of this dream was not so much about control, but more about interacting with my DC's. I told Berj that he wasn't real, and that this was a dream. He started freaking out, in a good way, and ended up fighting with another person (Im not sure who).

From here on out, the dream fades, but up until that point, it felt as though at least 10 minutes had passed, which was very cool.

Tomorrow, I will try and focus and summon/find my dream guide. Should be an interesting chat...
