Thanks Gab- I'm going to work with that idea of adding onto the mantra. Setting intentions /w mantras seems to influence things for me as long as I really focus on the intention. I'm still practicing retaining that awareness with these awakenings throughout the night, but I'll let you know how it goes!

      DEILD Help!!!!!!!!

Hey everyone! So I have been trying to lucid dream for about six months now. For the first few months, I kept trying a couple methods, but then I eventually stumbled upon DEILD. I tried it the first night and I had my first LD! I only used a mantra and woke up in the middle of the night, staying still and keeping my eyes closed. I then thought about my previous dream and in about 5 seconds, I was in my lucid dream. (I did a reality check to make sure) I didn't even open my eyes, and it still felt like real life. I then got really scared, since it was my first LD, and forced myself to wake up. But after that night, I am having trouble having DEILDs. I can still wake up in the middle of the night with my eyes closed, but sometimes I move. Also, I am unable to concentrate on previous dreams for some reason. I think it's because I can't just relax and trust myself to concentrate enough, but I also think I try too hard to concentrate sometimes. Like my heart is beating and I just get really worried that I won't get a DEILD that night. I really don't know what to do, It's been many months now and I have not had any other DEILDs. How do I just relax and concentrate on my previous dreams??? Thanks.

Hi, I feel your frustration. I am a DIELD fanatic and have written extensively on the topic. I also DEILD every night using an alarm. For you the problem is staying relaxed and focused. You are getting excited when you find yourself in the zone ie: you have woken up naturally and can now DEILD but your heart beats too fast or you move.

You would very much benefit from doing a daily meditation for 20 minutes. The reason for this is that when you awake at night and start to DEILD, you are effectively meditation back into the dream

Also, you dont need to remember the last dream at all, simply stare at the back of your eyelids and lightly repeat 'i am dreaming' and you will still enter into a lucid dream. Dont be scared at any point - theres no danger

I will also be BETA TESTING the new Aurora as iWinks have told me i make an idea candidate for a UK beta tester. Ive a strong feeling that the Aurora will be a game changer for people who DEILD, removing all need for natural awakenings or WBTB's

Thanks soo much for the advice!! I will definitely meditate daily and when you said that I don't need to remember my previous dream, that just made my life a whole lot easier, cause I used to get really worried that I wouldn't be able to remember my dreams when I woke up in the middle of the night. So thanks!

Just so you know, the following may happen: If you DIELD without remebering your last dream or picturing a new dream scene then you may fall asleep before your mind has had a chance to 'spool' up a new dream scene. What may happen is that your dream may begin in your bedroom so if you think your deild has not worked then make sure to do a reality check

Many times i have though that my dield has not worked and that im laying there awake. I then nose plug just for the sake of it and find that im actually dreaming with my bedroom as the dream scene. You can then get up and flyaway. Some people call this an obe (out of body experience) but thats just plain nonsense, its a lucid dream like any other. Over time you will meet with many different scenarios when DEILDing and its a case of learning and recognizing each one and what to do.

I will soon be testing the new Aurora headband which will make DIELDing 100x easier to do so watch this space! :-)

Yup, I know exactly what you're talking about. The first time I performed DEILD, I woke up in my bedroom and also did a reality check, which convinced me that I was dreaming. But the weird thing was that I did think about my previous dream and then fell asleep, but still found myself in my bedroom.

You generally do not have a choice in how you eventually end up in the lucid dream. Someones i visualize and start in my bedroom and vice versa.

Okayy, and also I have another problem with DEILD. Before going to sleep, I stare at the darkness at my eyelids for about a minute and I also say the mantra "I will awake in my dream without moving", as I drift off to sleep. And then when I wake up in the middle of the night, I naturally don't open my eyes at all, which is a good thing, but I always move. How do I make myself not move upon waking?? And can you still DEILD after moving??

Totally. Always nose plug in case of false awakenings. I remember one time nose plugging in my bed and then check my hands. I think I got too excited though as much a my hand were not there but I definitely knew I was dreaming. I got up went out my bedroom door and had a fly around etc. I have not done this much and the reason maybe that I tend to think I have to wake up when I wake up if you like. My friend says never go to the toilet when you wake up at night cause then you wont be able to go back to sleep again. Instead I am going to look at my eyelids and go back to sleep. My awareness though is so poor and I am programmed to fit into the world and just do the right thing for others rather than it being my own choice. Although this helps me get on well with my family etc it is not operating out of the awareness I need for more lucids. I basically take things as being very real, me as being real and have no awareness to make the right decisions more just following rules to get along therefore even though I have good dream recall I think my decisions and what happens in a dream are really important and take everything very seriously. I won't be able to DIELD too easily like this only for the fact of knowing that I have woken up and knowing that I have fallen back to sleep together with the repeated use of reality checks.

This tutorial really helped last night. When I woke up after a dream I remembered it. I was just looking at my eyelids. I had moved a little but just relaxed and feel back to sleep again even thought it was in my usual ignorant non lucid state I was still aware of my dreams but did not know I was dreaming. I really thought I was the character in the dream and did not know it was just a dream. I think this is because I take what I think to be so serious and important!!! Poor Danny with little awareness.

Last night I slept the whole night through and did not remember waking. Maybe I stayed up too late and was a bit over tired. When I woke at my usual time I saw it was light outside got excited to write down my dreams and woke up. This was a bit of an assumption as it is getting light really early these days and I could have gone for one more nap. As a general rule I would like to watch my eyelids everytime I wake up. Thanks for this tutorial.

Last night was the first time trying this, I was aware that the dream was fading and I kept my eyes and body still but I never though I would do it so I panicked on what to do next and opened my eyes.

So since I have a problem of not being able to stay still and stay calm when I wake up in the middle of the night, attempting to DEILD, if I talk to my subconscious before bed, and request it to help me stay calm, will it work, alongside with doing meditation in the day???

Follow the guide for tips on keeping your eyes closed and body still.

For me - wake up 6 hours of sleep with alarm shutting off after 5 seconds, snooze for 20 minutes. It gives me quite a few attempt because REM appears more frequently then. If you become fully awake then remind yourself that you will keep your eyes and body still on next awakening.

      Back at DV again.

If you shift your focus to the back for your eyelids each night for a long period of time, days, months becoming aware of the blackness, will you begin to wake up naturally with your eyes closed?

I have been wondering if Iwinks would be a game changer. I have been following it for a long time now. Good to see they finally are making production and having testers. Its awesome you get to be one of the testers Congrats!

Been trying to do DEILD for a while now, still trying to get past the first barrier (waking up with eyes closed/ staying still ). Auto suggestions just doesn’t seem to be working for me. I really dislike the thought of using an alarm to wake up, wouldn’t want to wake up girlfriend.
