      Kjarva's Lyrics Technique

      Hi guys,

I am fairly new to the DV forums and have been trying to achieve lucidity for the last few weeks. Admittedly I am rubbish at doing reality checks through the day, so tried a couple of different things the last few nights. I have had some success with this technique I am about to propose, I have had 2 very short lucids the last 2 nights with this method.

      The Method

I do a WBTB, getting up after one of my REM cycles, for me about 4am. I stay up for an hour or so and then go back to bed. I pick a song that I know very well and recite the song in my head. Here's the important bit though! Do not sing the song in your head, actually think of and recite the lyrics - even for a song you know well, this is quite difficult when you ignore the tune completely and only focus on the lyrics.

Personally I chose one of my favourite pearl jam tracks and still struggled a bit focusing just on the words without the music. This task while back in bed should hopefully keep your mind so focused that your body will go to sleep and you will start seeing HI in no time. once you start to see the hypnagogic's it's time to join in!

I hope this was helpful to some of you.
      Things to do 2012/13:
Write dreams in my journal every day [ ] Practice reality checks as often as possible [ ] Start having lucid dreams again [ ] Try to create a continuous dream world i.e. each lucid picks up from where the last left off - could be fun.. or impossible [ ]

      Hey...
Sounds interesting...how well did it work for you?
One question though...to get into SP you have to be completely still...
Well,I still have to try this...
Though I don't listen to listen songs with lyrics that much, mostly house...^^

The idea is to remain in a constant state of departure while always arriving..

To be honest, I don't lie on my back or anything to try to induce SP, I just lie in my normal sleeping position on my side and the focus on the sonlg lyrics keeps me awake. I have had 2 very short lucids as a result of this method the last 2 nights, however my dream recall is still a bit naff, so they might have been longer but I can't remember.

My biggest problem has always been keeping my mind awake and not just going back to sleep. I have found the above does the job!

Oh...really? If you're new to this,I think you've changed my mind...
That's good^^... I myself have never been able to get into SP...
If I lie on my back,I usually lie for 15-20 minutes and nothing happens, then I'd just go "screw this" and go to my normal sleeping position and drift off...
It's good you're able to get into SP on your normal sleeping position...
      I'll surely try this...
      Thanks

I'm always looking for another spin on the WILD technique, and this one looks like a good one. I think this would work good for me when attempting during the night, but during the day, i think it would keep me too awake. I may try this tonight. I'm always unsure of how i should occupy my mind while attempting WILD. Whether i should passively observe my breaths, count my breaths, just passively watch my thoughts, repeat some mantra while counting. Saying the lyrics to a song sounds like a better way, especially since it worked twice for you. Now i just have to think of which song to use.
