Proposed Technique: Projection Hit List

One thing I've noticed about my dreams is that certain people often appear in them. People such as friends from music camp or school, or TV/movie characters, family members and such.

Here's my proposed idea: Along with a dream journal, keep a list of the people you meet in your dream. Put a tally mark next to their name for every time you encounter them while in a dream. Then, if someone on your list has a certain amount of tallies (say 3 or five or so), do a reality check every time you encounter that person in real life, or see their picture, connect with them on Facebook, things like that.

Hopefully, with enough diligence, whenever you encounter one of these reoccurring projections in a dream, you will habitually do a reality check and become aware that you are dreaming.

A note: I don't believe it to be necessary to add projections to your hit list that aren't actually people you know. Since they are randomly generated by the mind, the likelihood of encountering them again is probably quite small.

So.

What do you think?

I think this sounds almost identical to a MILD, with the exception that you concentrate on recurring people as your dream sign. This also assumes that people are a person's strongest dream sign. :/

As said, they would be like a dream sign. I have no recurrent people in my dreams, but for sure, for people who have, it would be a great way to become lucid.

I belive as projections, you are refering to Dream characters.

Yeah its just basically a part of MILD. But i like that you open peoples eyes to people being dream signs.

It defiantly was a good movie, and since watching it my LD's had been more stable, weird but cool. :P
Sounds like a good idea to me, my friend from primary school often appears in my dreams, she's a good dream sign because I don't see her in RL.

Now I'm slightly interested, I wonder if it isn't actually all that common for people from the real world to appear in dreams.

I also just realized that my dreamsigns do indeed seem to be people. When I read my dream journal, there really aren't any consistencies or connections between my dreams other than who's in them.

I like the approach. This sounds like a good way to organize and plan your dreamsigns when they are mostly people. The mind craves systems and routines. Repetition and writing things down are good ways to build habits in the unconscious mind.

I do this by tagging their names in my dream journal. Same with various recurring characters.

I don't RC every time I see someone, though. I usually dream about the people I have contact with the most, so that would just be awkward. :cheeky:

I don't see it that way. I look at it as a habit-building approach. Even just thinking if you are dreaming when you see the person could potentially increase awareness in the dream state.
