My problem with the FILD technique has been when i wake up to try the technique I don't know when I'm about to fall asleep like on the edge of falling asleep which is when your supposed to attempt it. Does anyone have any tips on that?

I take it as a sign that I am right about to fall asleep when my mind really starts to drift. Like I will be thinking about a test tomorrow for example and without noticing, over the next 30 seconds, my mind has headed off in a completely different direction. Do you know what I mean?
I don't have any experience with FILD, sorry. But check out this forum, I'm sure you'll find something about it here. Good luck:alien:

I've played around with this technique a lot, but I don't use that much. Unlike most tutorials out there, I set mine up like a DEILD. I'm up only for a few seconds while mentally doing the FILD motion. As soon as I feel the transitional phase (sleep and all that stuff) kicking then, then I stop movements, and focus on either nothing, or creating the scene in which I want to start out in, like any other WILD technique.
Use a mantra to wake up at night.
The mantra will wake you up at the rem cycle, because waking you up in delta cycle would be stupid.
As soon as you wake up, just roll over and start doing the FILD asap.
When I'm doing it, I can feel my fingers moving like a lot, but actually I'm not moving them.
