Is the human race ready to learn about the secrets of the universe?

For a little while now I have been trying to learn about quantum mechanics, String theory, the Chakra centers, astral projection, law of attraction, vibrational frequencies, meditation, and dream yoga. I have been trying to piece together my own model of how the universe works. However the more and more I look the more questions I find and the more it becomes clear that no one has a very good model of how reality works. I finally had a thought that made sense to me "the human race can barely take care of itself let alone try to solve the mysteries of the universe." There is poverty, slavery, and corruption all over the world, we have enough bombs to destroy the Earth, the Economy of the World is getting worse and worse, and, if you believe in that sort of thing, there is a secretive organization with a lot of power doin... stuff, stuff that involves Central Banks. are we ready to bend space and time, to communicate with aliens or inter-dimensional beings, to travel to unseen places.

I'm not sure we could handle that as a species. I think we need to get to a world filled with free and equal people, a world were no one is poor or uneducated, a world filled with reasonable and ethical people. Until then I'm not sure if trying to understand reality is responsible. So do you think it would be a good thing if a bunch of aliens came down tomorrow and showed the human race all of this advanced technology and started to teach them about how to manipulate time and space? We might just use it to make better weapons or what if we attack them and they obliterate us with there technology or what if we piss someone off we are not suppose to or enslave an alien race. We just have to many irresponsible people in the world to be given that much power.

I say with regards to extra-terrestrial beings, we cross that bridge when or "if" we get to it. I personally do not believe that any other intelligent advanced sentient beings exist anywhere else in this Universe. However, the rest of your concerns are very sound.

I don't really understand your reasoning. Humans have destructive and wasteful instincts, but that never stopped our instinct of curiosity or desire to figure things out. Albert Einstein did some of his hardest work on general relativity during World War II.

Word is we only need 7-10% to hit critical mass. I think we can manage that number.

Everything works out in the end, sometimes even badly.

I'm saying before we continue feed our insatiable appetite for knowledge we should look around and realize that the state of the world is grim and we should focus on helping some really miserable people so they can help with solving the puzzle. If we live in a world with half of the population suffering and half trying to understand the universe we are probably going to get half-truths, pseudo-science, and pseudo-religion.

eh, I don't think your giving enough credit to individual independence. It doesn't seem to me that everyone's minds mix evenly into one big mind soup that characterizes everyone's way of thinking. Put one scientific thinking person and one biblical literalist in a room and they won't balance each other out. The scientist won't half believe pseudo-science and the biblical literalist won't half start looking for evidence. I agree that the world would be a better place with more curious scientists who have the means of living a healthy life of equal opportunities, I'm just saying that the suffering and flaws of some people isn't going to deduct from the spirit of scientific individuals who are curious about reality.
