Hi am interested in starting to meditate, and I'm looking for a good book to get me started, any suggestions?

Meditation is a powerful for mental health, clarity, and overall well-being. It is often viewed as a way to relax, but it can also help maintain physical health, boost concentration, and counteract depression.

I suggest not getting started with books.

      Just sit. See what happens.

Really, that's all there is to it.

If you need a technique of some kind try paying attention to your breath. If you find yourself getting distracted from your breath you can count your breath. Inhale, exhale, 1. Inhale, exhale, 2. etc. When you get to 10 start over.

If you want some instructions I suggest finding a teacher. Someone you can talk to face to face. Sometimes you need instructions on how to get started, but I just gave you that so now you don't. What you get from a teacher is feedback. You tell them what you are experiencing and they can provide advice. You can't get this with a book.

I suggest you stop being interested in starting to meditate and just meditate. Many people spend years talking about how wonderful meditation is while spending very little time actually doing it. This comes from looking for the truth in books instead of in your own experience.

157 is a prime number. The next prime is 163 and the previous prime is 151, which with 157 form a sexy prime triplet. Taking the arithmetic mean of those primes yields 157, thus it is a balanced prime.
