qi/chi?
does anyone here believe in chi or qi? i dont but i have an open mind.
if you do then what do you believe you can do with it?
and what is the best way to learn how to use it and increase chi flow or whateva?

I do, whatever you want to call it though is up to you... chi, reiki, chakra, prana, god etc. etc.
It's the life force, of life.
To me anyway :)
There's lots of ways you can go with it, just depends what school of thought you choose to follow, that's if you want to follow one.
The chakras for instance, aren't actually glowing flowers aligned down your spine made of energy... it's just a way of explaining to someone something that is there, but isn't there, so they can understand better, through meditation and visualization, as a means of accessing that 'energy'.

I've been doing ChiGong 2 yrs now, and know it's real.
I regard chi as an ocean of potential we live in.
It's not quite the same as prana (in practice) , as prana seems largely breath based in yogi traditions, as I understand it. Nor is it god, as it has no intelligence in itself. IMO
Breath is an essential component , but so is will, intent, love ,as well as the moves that direct Chi (for healing- in ChiGong anyway)
I learned from this dvd course , as the teacher is local to me.
SFQ – Spring Forest Qigong – Helping you heal physical and emotional pain
I've never yet met him and the dvd course was enough to give me a solid start, almost as good as a class. A class (with a really experienced teacher-master is ideal from what most say.... but I've done energy work and can sense energy flow pretty well.
look at youtube and see who attracts you ..... they may have a dvd, if you have no local master-teacher
Do some looking, as each teacher-school teaches different moves, and starting over isn't a great idea ... at least till you really get the feel of energy and can sense what's really happening (it can take time) to really feel what's happening, and get deep into the flow.
this is the national org
Qigong Institute - Home Page
I really love doing it , as it grounds me to earth and earth energy, keeps me centered.... something we all need these days.

Thanx for the videos.
1st was funny... as he had no idea what he was talking about, or if he did, he was afraid of mentioning universal energy. Talking only about
physiology ignores the basic reality underlying energy work... that we are more than physical beings.
Other 3 videos had tons of info... That the brain uses 12x the chi as other cells is interesting , and explains why breath is so important in meditation (for me at least)... and why I feel so lethargic till I begin moving-breathing in the mornings.

I posted the first video because I believe that guy knew exactly what he was talking about and was clarifying it for others. Qi is not merely the chinese way of describing energy. Qi refers to functionality. What he was describing was beyond the grasp of his vocabulary, as well as mine, but I still regard the distinction he makes important in order to clarify qi for presumptuous minds.
I frankly find the other videos I posted to be way over simplified, not only in their definition of qi but the tao, the functions of cells in the body, take your pick. It's so over simplified that a critical mind would regard it as pseudo-science because while it's trying to explain things the easiest possible way, a lot of the statements being made could be misinterpreted as logical leaps.

I know that the region's of the body that are popularly identified to reside the 7 main chakras have been found to be sites of neuranal plexuses-networks of cells saturated with neuropeptide transmitters (a neuropeptide being molecule that induces a specific emotional state) so the physical manifestation of the chakra is effectivly of a mini-brain.
I can deduce one thing from this. If a "subtle" energy does exist, its collection and control has to do with a brain like medium. So it has to be:
1. Receptive to very slight electrical signals
2.infolded for maximum surface area
And if the Orch-OR theory is correct then
3. Posses enough microtubules to general significent quantum effects.
I propose further that networks of cells are able to combine their individual signals to produce a stronger signal not too unlike how astronomers combine the magnifing power of several mirrors to emulate one giant mirror.
That is if this chi exists...
