      Psychokinesis - An individual's study

      Hey there.

I've recently stumbled upon a fair bit of free time, so I decided to see if there's anything to psychokinesis. I'll focus mostly on micro-telekinesis, attempting to influence number generators, a psi-wheel and a flame. I'll try and make the sessions as controlled as possible... but unfortunately I am unable to prevent all air currents in my current space. I will, hopefully with the help of you folks, create a series of experiments that would produce results regardless of the existence of small air currents.

I have already spent several hours [as a control] attempting to influence a flame and a psi wheel. I've noticed some patterns that I can write off as natural. The first being the flicker of a flame due to it's proximity to my finger. Small [unnoticeable] air currents react with both my finger and the flame, resulting in increase/decrease in size as well as a flicker. Similarly, any small movement or trembling of my hands around or about the psi wheel and flame also result in motion. To completely remove these happenings, I will avoid use of my hands.

      Fire
What results should I aim for first? I think that the sustained pull of a flame to one side or the other is a good start. I've already determined that an open flame in my room leans slightly to one side at all times, so I'll factor that into any results.

      Psi Wheel
What results should I aim for first? I think that sustained motion in one direction, followed by sudden stop, is a good start. I've already determined that a psi-wheel does not move at all while I am completely still [except of course for my breathing].

I'd love any advice/experiences! I will provide results here in writing, and in the case of an extreme result, as video.

Edit: I was a little unclear. What I mean above is that those should be the end goals. If at the end of this initial stage I can start a psi-wheel moving and stop it at will, and if I can cause a flame to lean to a side of my choosing, I will call this stage a success and move forward. But what I'd like from you is the in-between. What should I do to get there! I will do my own research and try methods I find on the internet, but if any of you have particular rituals please do let me know and I'll post the results!

Good idea not using your hands. Body heat can affect a psi-wheel even through bowls or glasses.

      Day 1:
      Psi-wheel

The first technique I'm trying is covered by YouTube user Darryl Sloan. His technique involves heavy visualization and repetition. He advises that you focus on visualizing the event you want to achieve, and build a habit of sorts. A mental 'program' that executes on a lower level. Similar to how you can leave your house, then return to check if you locked the door and find that you did lock the door... but because the task was executed by some lower part of your consciousness while the higher functions were distracted, you don't recall having locked it. Essentially you "zone out" and execute a task subconsciously... with your higher cognitive function nearly unaware of it. If you've ever zoned out during some task, such as driving, only to find that you can't recall much of the journey once you've reached the destination, then you can relate to this.

      Ritual:
      Deep Breathing Meditation - 30m
Goal Visualization [Counter Clockwise Motion] - 10m
      Results: No results.

      Number Generator
For this I 'commanded' the number to be larger or smaller than the previous number. For example; If the first number is 11, and I will the number to be larger, I consider a number 12 or greater to be a positive result. I used the integer generator [at http://www.random.org] to generate 16 integers between the number 0 and 101.

      Ritual: None
      Results: 6 correct [6/16][37% accuracy]

That's cool! I love the idea. As much as I am comfortable starting this journey with Psi-wheels and flame... PK should be applicable to anything if there is actually any truth to it. You don't often hear of people doing much beyond the psi-wheel, so it's awesome to see different tests! His "Psionics:- Understanding Radiant Energy Pulsing" video is very cool as well. I'll definitely check out this guy's stuff!

      Day 1.5:
      Psi-wheel

Attempt to affect a psi-wheel with my mind.

      Ritual:
      Deep Breathing Meditation - 30m
Goal Visualization [Counter Clockwise Motion] - 10m
Results: After a brief distraction, there may have been motion. After the ritual above, I sat in front of my psi-wheel and cleared my mind, looked 'beyond' the wheel, and visualized motion. After roughly 15 minutes, nothing had occurred. I went to my PC to record results, but when I glanced back at the psi-wheel it had changed orientation. Note that it is in a sealed jar, on a stable surface. Unfortunately, as my session was complete I had turned off my camera. Going forward I'll be sure to keep the camera running for 5 or so minutes after a session. I'd reckon this is inconclusive, as I may have bumped it without realizing it or something along those lines. The thing I learned from this is that a session may not be over when a session is over... haha. Lesson learned.

      Number Generator
Command that the next randomly generated integer is either larger or smaller than the previous number.

      Ritual: None
      Results: 5 correct [5/16][31% accuracy]

One thing notable about the Random Number Generator Test is that in both sessions I have winning and losing streaks... as opposed to some random distribution of WL.
      W = Win / L = Lose
      Session 1:
      LLL WW LL W LLL W L WW L
      Session 2:
      LLLLL WWW LL WW LLLL

I'm not too keen on statistics, probability etc., so maybe clumping is typical is small sample sizes. I'll start to do 30 integers per run, and after a few days check again to see if there are any patterns.

      Day 2:
      Psi-wheel

Attempt to affect a psi-wheel with my mind.

      Ritual:
      Deep Breathing Meditation - 15m
Goal Visualization [Counter Clockwise Motion] - 10m
      Results: No results

      Number Generator
Command that the next randomly generated integer is either larger or smaller than the previous number.

      Ritual: None
      Results: 10 correct [10/30][30% accuracy]

      Pattern of success
      W = Win / L = Lose
      W LLLLL W L W L WW L W LL W LLLLLLL WWW LLL

Even with a larger sample, there is still considerable clumping. Another thing I think is notable is that I do seem to have some affect on the generation of numbers... but it's a negative effect. 37%, 31%, and 30% accuracy. On average I guess the wrong answer 67% of the time. If I were guessing the right 67% of the time, you'd think that's a promising result. I'll continue to do this at least once daily, and after a week or two of this I'll see if the trend continues. Maybe for the next round I'll declare that the next number won't be greater or smaller, and see if the results reverse.

edit: Note that I have dropped the flame section of this experiment. There are too many variables, and I can't control conditions nearly enough to ensure proper results. I noticed that even leaving the flame alone, without projecting my will upon it, variations inevitably occurred. Changes in size, intensity, motion etc. But I've got the psi-wheel sealed in a mason jar... so if I can get any movement out of it, I'd consider that relatively conclusive evidence of some unknown force acting upon it.

      Challenge Info

"The Foundation is committed to providing reliable information about paranormal claims. It both supports and conducts original research into such claims.

At JREF, we offer a one-million-dollar prize to anyone who can show, under proper observing conditions, evidence of any paranormal, supernatural, or occult power or event. The JREF does not involve itself in the testing procedure, other than helping to design the protocol and approving the conditions under which a test will take place. All tests are designed with the participation and approval of the applicant. In most cases, the applicant will be asked to perform a relatively simple preliminary test of the claim, which if successful, will be followed by the formal test. Preliminary tests are usually conducted by associates of the JREF at the site where the applicant lives. Upon success in the preliminary testing process, the "applicant" becomes a "claimant."

To date, no one has passed the preliminary tests."

I'm a huge fan of Randi's. That would be something eh? $1 million bucks!!! Haha. Wouldn't go too far nowadays though...

I'm of the mindset that if any of this stuff exists, it must be reconcilable with science. It has to exist in accordance with the laws of the universe. Either these things exist in accordance with the laws of the universe, or they don't exist. It sound silly to say it that way... but I don't know how else to explain it to some people. Magic isn't real. If this stuff is real, then it MUST be worldly.

To be honest... if anything comes of my experiment I'd probably get a lawyer, then set up a meeting with a University. Then I'd invite the media, and run some experiments. My goal, first and foremost, would be to work with the scientific community to explain the phenomenon... but that's just assuming this stuff is real, and I figure it out. And that's a pretty big assumption for me to make right now.

What I'm trying to say is that I don't believe in magic. I don't believe in supernatural things. If these things exist, they will [eventually] be discovered and explained.

Edit: With that said, can ANYONE win that challenge? Hypothetically in a year or two I can move things with my mind. I go to Randi, take the challenge, and move something with my mind. Then they dispute it. They claim that it isn't really supernatural, and that it must be explainable. Then, before you know it, they've whipped up a sound theory. Suddenly it isn't anything special, and I've simply done something that can be done.

      Edit2: Nevermind. Check this out.

2.2 What is the definition of “paranormal” in regards to the Challenge?
Webster’s Online Dictionary defines “paranormal” as “not scientifically explainable; supernatural.”

Within the Challenge, this means that at the time your application is submitted and approved, your claim will be considered paranormal for the duration. If, after testing, it is decided that your ability is either scientifically explainable or will be someday, you needn’t worry. If the JREF has agreed to test you, then your claim is paranormal.

I've always thought that if I ever acquired or mastered some "paranormal" ability like telekinesis, I would likely keep that fact to myself. Selfish, perhaps, but in this world playing close to the vest with such ability seems to make a lot of sense.

Just a thought; not sure why I posted it here... good luck with your experiment, Mindwanderer, and if you succeed, well, good luck with that, too!

      Thanks Sageous!

I can understand that. If you look a bit into the history of parapsychology, it's funding and it's criticisms, you see weird things. If you cast it in the same light as other revolutionary things, like efficient energy, non-pharmaceutical treatment etc... you can start to think up some crazy conspiracy theories.

Would it not be fair to say that IF this stuff exists, it would be of ultimate interest to "the greater powers" to ensure it doesn't come out? Coupling this with the research done by govt/mltry, it isn't much of a stretch to think that they've already got it figured out if it does exist. We already know that consciousness has a profound impact on the universe around us. Wave function collapse and Quantum Zeno effect [The Observer Effect in Quantum Physics], Bell's theorem [showing the potential non-locality of the universe], and countless other anomalies. Should it not be our main priority to understand consciousness, above all else? In order to observe, there must be consciousness... so it can be said that the mere existence of consciousness accounts for the concrete universe. Without observation, everything is in a transitional state. A superposition.

Anyways, I'm rambling. I'm not saying any of that quantum physics stuff has anything to do with PK, or necessarily validates anything. But it's a real mind trip to think about... and shows that reality is much more strange than we make it out to be. Everything is energy, and everything is one. Worst case scenario, I come out of this experience having found meditation and a much more humbling view of reality. Best case scenario, I can blow up heads with my MIND!!! MUWAHAHAHAHAAHAHA.

      Edit: Really... look at this.
We have no idea how consciousness emerges from the physical activity of the brain and we do not know whether consciousness can emerge from non-biological systems, such as computers ... At this point the reader will expect to find a careful and precise definition of consciousness. You will be disappointed. Consciousness has not yet become a scientific term that can be defined in this way. Currently we all use the term consciousness in many different and often ambiguous ways. Precise definitions of different aspects of consciousness will emerge ... but to make precise definitions at this stage is premature.

Results: Didn't do it today. I can't settle on a way to actually achieve this. People say "Just focus! DEMAND THAT IT BE RIGHT!". Well, it's not working... and nobody provides any way to really advance. They don't provide anything to practice. If I come across a technique that can show progression, as opposed to "keep trying" then I'll come back to it. With my current process for psychokinesis there is progress to be made. Meditation isn't a plug-n-play thing, so my execution will become better and eventually require less effort. Similarly, I've found my visualizations can use work. There is actually room to progress while seeking the end goal. But with the number generator, it's just the end goal. I could, in time, apply the methods I use for psychokinesis to intuit/command a number generator... but it's a different mechanism altogether. It generates a number from electronic noise. It's ones and zeros on a chip. Am I commanding the thing, or predicting the result? Meh. I figure it's better if I just focus on one thing at a time anyways. But yeah, still no progress.

^^ It sounds like you've already focused on the right thing: visualization. Demanding in your waking-life language that number generators produce your planned results simply doesn't make sense to me, no matter how hard you focus. Machines don't speak human language, so speaking or thinking at them in human language will likely fail every time.

Better to learn to form your thoughts and instructions conceptually, metaphorically, around the nature of the object you are attempting to change. If you can get your thoughts to match the energy signature (as it were) of the object you wish to move or change, and you can learn to really understand the nature of that object, you might (very big might, BTW) be able to get those modified thoughts to influence a target object. Visualization seems the likely first step in this direction.

I say this because that note about demanding that it be right struck a chord with me. I have never understood why people have the arrogance to assume that all things, animals, and people of other countries, will comprehend their language, as long as they shout. This odd stance is particularly rampant in the paranormal pursuits, where mystics simply assume that they can speak and will be understood. I think that truly creative visualization is the only way to cross this communication gap, and it seems you've already got that in mind.

So, first step in hand, I hope that the next step (aka, modest results) comes to you shortly. Good luck!

Results: No results. There have been some changes worth noting. This meditation has become much easier as I practice. When trying to affect the psi-wheel I get a sort of 'tension' in my head. I'm not sure if that's a good thing, a bad thing, or nothing. It isn't uncomfortable, and is hard to describe.

Going forward I think that I'm only going to post when I have actual results, or once a week. That way I'm not bumping this thread daily without providing anything new to the thread.

I'm not really sure yet. If I can ever do it, I'd have to spend a while deciding what my plan is. Here is my issue. I'd have to wonder why nobody else with these abilities had gone to Randi or any other educational institutions.

The only answers I could come up with are
      1. I'm the first person to ever demonstrate this ability.
      2. None of this stuff exists, and every claimant is a liar or delusional or something.
      3. There is a reason that nobody has brought these abilities to light, and I just don't know why yet.

So yeah, it's a bit tricky. If this stuff exists, and I can one day do it... I don't think I'd jump to the media or any educational institutes... simply because I can imagine that I'm the first person to ever learn this stuff... and if I'm not the first person, everyone else must have a good reason not to come forward. I know it sounds hokey. Like an easy way out, but think about it. If you discovered something immense, that's been hinted at for centuries, what would you do? You'd have to ask yourself why nobody else brought this forward before you. I don't know... I'm rambling now.

If I find out this stuff is real, and can demonstrate these abilities... I'll buy a pointy hat and become a wandering wizard

      Day 4-13:
      Psi-wheel

Attempt to affect a psi-wheel with my mind.

      Ritual:
      Deep Breathing Meditation - 30m
Goal Visualization [Counter Clockwise Motion] - 10m
      Results: No results.

Edit: I just realized that I didn't completely answer your question. What's next in terms of these abilities? First I'd continue work on the psi-wheel and ensure that I can demonstrate my ability repeatedly. On the fly, in different locations and with different circumstances. If I move the thing once, I'm not going to come screaming that I've done it. If I can move it time and time again, in whichever direction I please, from a distance.... then I'll get excited.

Beyond the psi-wheel, I'd move to everyday objects. Work on moving light objects across a surface. Shift from rotation to translation across 2 axis. But this is thinking waaaay to far ahead. I'm nearly two weeks in, and have no results yet. I may never get results... so for now I'll focus on this stage of the experiment.

While I don't positively believe these abilities exist, I do think the brain is much more powerful than perceived and that these things should be seriously studied.

How long are you willing to keep your investigation ? And will you report here if you succeed ?
Check your memory, did any suprising event happpen ? does the present make sense ? visualize what you will do when lucid, and how. Reality check as reminder of your intention to lucid dream tonight. Sleep as good as you can; when going to sleep, relax and invite whatever comes with curiosity. Grab your dream journal immediately as you awake and write everything you can recall (if only when you wake up for good). Keep calm, positive and persistent, and don't forget to have fun along the way

I won't set a dead line just yet, as I'm still very early in. I'd like to continue this for one year at least, and then decide at the end of that year what my plans are going forward. That way I'm giving the whole thing an honest chance. Most of the few believable cases are those of lifetime learners. Kids on youtube that claim to have these powers, and upload videos of moving an uncovered psi-wheel, can't be believed. People that claim results after only a few days, or even weeks, can't be believed. If I give this a full year, I'm giving it a better chance than 99% of the people out there.

      Day 14-15:
      Psi-wheel
Attempt to affect a psi-wheel with my mind.

      Ritual:
      Deep Breathing Meditation - 30m
Goal Visualization [Counter Clockwise Motion] - 10m
      Results: No results.

Edit: I just learned a new word!

Perinormal [From peri- "near-" and normal, by analogy with paranormal]
"Having previously been thought to be a paranormal phenomenon, but having since been scientifically verified as natural."

I think this is what these powers will be classified as. I am certain that if this forces exist they will be natural, and will in time be scientifically understood.

Hey folks. Although I have yet to see any results, for some reason my confidence is growing. I'm sure it is in part thanks to my research regarding quantum physics, energy and unity... but beyond that, I just have the strangest feeling of assurance. Like something within me is saying that I can, and will, do it. Is it just me being hopeful? Perhaps it's just my mind playing tricks on me. Either way, I feel like there may be results in the near future. If there is, you guys will be the first to know.
