Practical methods of Chakra Healing

I hope to make this a topic full of practical methods of chakra healing.

Meaning to cleanse the "energy body" of Ego, Blockades, Tention, Tightness..etc (synonyms for one and the same) that blocks and constricts the flow of life energy/prana/chi or whatever you wish to call it.

Such blockades restrict the free frow of life energy which results in muscle tentions, physical and mental/emotional ailments. In servere cases it could cause fatal diseases and complete insanity. This is my view of the underlying nature of our self and the foremost cause of physical and mental wellbeing or ailment/sickness.

I seek practical methods to clear such blockades. I know of 1 which I will share here now:

There are 7 (main ) Chakras. Each of them have their own chant, which will vibrate with their corresponding chakra; thereby vibrating tightness/blockades loose again. This vibrating, especially when an overtone is achieved in the chant, is very effective at making tight barriers, in body and mind, flexible and loose again. Thus it's healing properties.

1) Root Chakra
Deals with: Survival
Is blocked by: Fear
Chant: LLLAAAMMNNG

2) Sacral Chakra
Deals with: Pleasure
Is blocked by: Guilt
Chant: VVVAAAMMMNNG

3) Solar Plexus
Deals with: Willpower
Is blocked by: Shame
Chant: RRRAAAMMNNG

4) Heart Chakra:
Deals with: Love
Is blocked by: Grief
Chant: YYYAAAMMNNG

5)Throat Chakra
Deals with: Truth
Is blocked by: Lies( The ones we tell ourselves)
Chant: HHHAAAMMNNG

6) Third Eye Chakra:
Deals with: Insight
Is blocked by: Illusion
Chant: AAAOOOMMNNG

7) Crown Chakra:
Deals with Enlightenment/transcendance
Is blocked by: Earthly Attatchment
Chant: NNNGGG

This is one practical method of clearing out blockades.
Another practical way I know of is the Entheogenic/Psychedelic experience with intent to spiritually cleanse. (as Santo Daime members do with their Ayahuasca ceremonies and others with similair peyote, mushrooms and cannabis ceremonies.)

I'd like to know of many more. Post all such practical methods here.

Hey SKA, have you any personal experiences with chakra healing? Emotional or physical? Or anyone else for that matter? I'm just interested in what people have experienced.

Kind of several times, both blocking and healing experiences.

I had had a crushing, suffocating block on my heart chakra due to denying myself being in love with a girl I know, friend of mine. Since it wouldn't even happen(we tried, but she's just too deatachable as I'm too attachable) I just willingly refused being in love with her, I didn't want to get hurt with that just as I didn't want to bother her being obsessive about a girl again. It got to the point I couldn't communicate with my emotions anymore, all I could hear were moans of pain and frustration and "I LOVE HER"s or things like that. I just kept trying to work it out trying to erease that feeling from my heart 'till the day I gave up and chose to listen kindly to whatever my heart would like to tell. I medidated strongly wanting to release all of my held back feelings and had a weeping painful screaming nightmare.

I'm pretty much fine the next day and my heart is not that choked as it would be.

Am I doing it right?

Yes I had a very powerfull chakra healing experience once, guided by a friend's father.
He straightened my spine and urged me to chant repeatedly for quite a long time.

I felt my chakra blockades tighten, become more evident. Like knives in my chest, like barbed wire within my chest tightening around my heart. It got more and more intense as I chanted longer and longer. Then suddenly a large amount of blocked energy came loose and was released, instantly shooting up through my head and out of me. As it flowed through my head I became totally sedated and emotionally/ mentally confused.

The sedation was as intense as smoking 3 really fat joints of strong cannabis within 1 minute. My thoughts were scrambled and slowed down. And I was overcome by strong emotions. Mostly grief.

When this cleared it was like the world was taken off of my shoulders.

I've heard that it's best to open them from bottom to top. What do you think about that?

I heard exactly the opposite. And I think it makes sense. A plant doesn't start growing from flowers either. It starts from the root.

If you follow the chakras from the bottom upwards it makes alot more evolutionairy sense:
First we learn to survive(root chakra), then we learn to feel/enjoy(sacral chakra) then we learn to act (Solar plexus), then we learn to love(heart chakra), then we learn to be truthfull(Throat chakra), then we learn to gain insight(Third eye) and then we learn to Understand/Transcend.(Crown Chakra)

This makes sense because; Only when we master Survival, can we begin to Enjoy life. Only when we enjoy life, can we form the willpower nececairy to act powerfully, only when our willpower and it's acting is strong enough are we able to withstand the effort and hardship of Loving. Only when we are filled with love, can we be truthfull. Only when we are truthfull, can we begin to see things for what they are. And off course only when we see things for what they are, can we begin to understand/transcend them.

The other way around, doesn't seem to be as loigcal to me.

In the end I think it's desirable to be well connected to both earth(through the root Chakra) and heaven(Through the Crown chakra)

certainly.

i usually sit on my bed cross legged with my hands together resting in my lap. i keep my back straight, close my eyes and breath in through my nose for about 4 seconds, and then out my mouth for about for seconds. i breath into my lower abdomen. i then just clear all the thoughts from my mind and after awhile ill start with the base chakra.

once ive balanced every chakra, i focus on every chakra at once and make them very bright, then i visualize my entire body encircled inside a ball of energy shortly after that i usually end my meditation. all in all it takes about an hour, and at the end i feel AMAZING! just on top of the world and fully rejuvenated.

I'm going to post my honest reaction with this type of stuff. I am very "in the dark" with this type of stuff. Is it a type of magic? I was taught through childhood this type of activity is demonic. I have no idea what it really is, but to be honest it spooks me and I am not sure what it's purpose is? Although my original views on life and creation is different than it once was (christianity) I still get an eerie feeling about this type of exercise.

I know I could research it, but could someone just explain briefly what it is and it's purpose? Thanks.

Until very recently I was just like you.... my ideas about spirituality came from movies showing eastern people meditating... movies probably made by people who know nothing about meditation etc.

But just recently, thanks to this site actually, I've started to look into it. The whole site is really excellent. Very eye-opening, and I think a great place to start looking into spiritual ideas. Looks like this stuff really is pretty practical and real, not just crazy talk.

Jorge, it is not uncommon for people to fear the unknown. Thus they label it demonic, however this is very misplaced and xenophobic.

Chakra healing is actually a way to heal yourself from negative energy(which is what you might call Satan). It does so by using positive energy(which you might call God).
It seeks to get rid of evil by cultivating and growing positive energy. All meant to be a better channel for God, unhindered and undistracted by Satan's work.

It's purpose is the same purpose Christians, Jews and Muslims have to pray. It's only a different path, but to the same goal.

But let's not turn this into a discussion about beliefs; Let's share Chakra healing methods as this topic was intended.

I did a search last night about chakra healing and found a site saying that if you've never opened your chakras before you should go slow and easy... to force them open will be a shock and could make them shut down for a month or more.

It said you might only get them partly open at first, and a little farther each time.

Also important... after opening each one for a while, close it again before moving on to the next. You don't want to walk around with them wide open.


Actually, what I found as a first-timer is some of them were hard to lock my mind onto and focus on. I'm guessing these are the ones I most need to open. Hope this qualifies as practical info for beginners.

From my studies, there is no syllable associated with the crown chakra.

I made a little mnemonic phrase to remember them (doesn't have the crown that you mentioned, obv.)

To enLighten; Vigorously Rinse Your Head Out

Pertaining to what DarkMatters said, energy meditation is definitely not something to be taken lightly. It is easy to do too much or try to push past blockage without clearing it and this can lead to tangible physical effects that can be distressful. When I first started trying to meditate on my energy I did not know much about chakras and the flow of things. Every time I meditated, my body would heat up considerably to the point of sweat literally pouring off my body (while sitting nearly naked in a cool room) and I would feel incredibly sick to my stomach until I couldn't do it any longer.

Hey Xaq, thanks for the mnemonic! I'm still struggling to remember the colors of all the chakras. But it helps to remember it's like a prism or a rainbow... red, orange, yellow, green, blue purple. If you know color theory it makes perfect sense - each color flows from the last one. I'm not sure of the color for the crown one though.

I noticed after doing this last night that when I went to bed I had something like a sustained adrenaline rush in my heart.. not a bad or scary feeling, but pretty intense.

Jorge, try not to look at it as weird spiritual stuff, but think of it like this...

It comes from ancient tradition in the far east, where they've always had an emphasis in quiet internal contemplation as opposed to western tradition which has an emphasis on the exterior. They understand that if you concentrate your attention quietly on some part of your body you can affect it physically. There are advanced yogis who can literally stop themselves from bleeding through fresh cuts just by focusing their mind on the area.

I'm also coming from a christian background, this kind of chakra and energy healing was very strange and foreign to me. But over the years I've learned a lot, and there is really nothing to be afraid of, even for a christian

According to tradition:
The chakras are centers of energy within your own body. They are a natural part of your own body, as natural as your hands and feet and all your organs. The chakras are within the energy body. The energy body is a part of the physical body (think of all the energy your brain produces, you have an energetic part to your body!)

This energy body is essential to life, is an essential part of every natual process within your body, and it it comes 'first'. If anything comprises your energy body, then your physical body has been comprised. It's believed that phsyical diseases are FIRST manfiested as a disease in the energy body.

The chakra/energy system function a lot like the nervous system. There is a delicate web connecting all of your chakra points spanning your entire body. The major chakras are intimately connected to all of your major organs.

Your chakra body isn't just essential to the health of your physical body. They are also a part of your emotional 'body' as well. Not only does each chakra relate to one or many organs, each chakra also relates to a type of emotion or being.

Sounds confusing doesn't it? But you've experienced it before! Imagine being nervous and anxious! Where did you feel this anxiety? In your gut right? Butterflies in the stomach? That's the solar plexus chakra. Or ever been so angry, your throat tightens up? There's a chakra there too. And it literally means you're angry because you aren't voicing your opinion!

The point I am trying to get at is, according to this tradition, chakras are a natural part of your body. It's not like magick, or summoning some sort of power outside of your self. It's just the opposite, this would be your God-given power.

Just like we can comprimise our body, we can comprismise our chakras. Sometimes our chakras need healing. The benefit is, as we heal our chakras and allow the energy to flow in them freely, we heal ourselves. And the energy that flows through the chakras? That is pure spirtiual energy that is.

And if you use this pure spiritual energy to do "bad" things, well you create a block in your chakras that limits how much energy you can recieve. So by design, chakras are "good" and never "bad"

But what do I know? I'm still a chakra noob :cheeky:

Juroara, speaking the syllables out loud is beneficial but not essential. You can 'speak' them with your mind's voice and it will still be effective. It helps me to still engage the muscles in order to really imagine the sound properly, but even that isn't necessary when you have done it enough to know what the feeling of "om" or "ommmnngg" is.

I also use the hindu gayatri mantra in meditation. I talked to a bhutanese guy I used to work with about it, and he told me that it is not traditional for an individual to speak mantras out loud.


I forgot to comment on this earlier; just as Darkmatters said, you may not open your chakras on the first try, and the more regularly you can do it the easier it will be. This is something that I have a lot of trouble with. Fortunately, my life will soon be changing in a drastic enough way that if I am diligent, I will be able to focus on it much more.

I found personally that the blocking of the heart chakra in experiences of deep grief to have been most pronounced. Also willpower/shame related sensations I have indeed felt as a tightening of my solar plexus area.

It was also very typical how, when this friend's father was assisting me in chanting chakra healing, that I received visions of my heart being trapped in a web of energy strands, hard and sharp like knives. As I chanted this looser and looser, alot of it released, launched upwards, went through my head and left me through my crown chakra.

It was striking that when this energy shot through my head I was overcome with a tsunami of very intense grieving thoughts and feelings. SO much it "intoxicated" me for quite a while.

I had sort of the same thing happening to me... I don't fall very easy in love, but when I do, I give in too much... And the 2 people I've ever loved had been the same way in the sense that they are sooooo Freaking detached!! :roll: It almost seems like they don't care... its been aweful...

I think its been blocking my heart chakra... I can feel this sort of pain in my heart... I know I'm ok physically so Its not like I'm having a heart attack!! its more like this warm pain in that area...

also.. I fantazise too much... somewhere I read ilusion blocks the third eye chakra :roll: so this topic is becomming really interesting to me...

I hadn't been able to astral project in a veeery long time, and I think it was due to sooo much blockage.. ever since I started working a little on my chakras, my inner problems and just letting go of the past, I've had a couple of cool experiences with LD and AP...

So any more suggestions to clear blockages from the third eye and heart are GREATLY appreciated :)

A good way of clearing blockades is to realise the opposites;
In case of fear blocking the root chakra; Realise/meditate uppon the Right to Live.
Find the courage to overcome the fear that holds you back.

In case of guilt blocking the sacral chakra realise the Right to pleasure. Forgive the things you blame yourself.

In case of shame blocking the solar plexus, realise the Right to act. Don't be a perfectionist and don't be affraid to fail. Don't let the fear of failure make you hesitant and incertain about your actions. Find the audacity to act powerfully and effectively, unaffraid of potential failure.

In case of Grief blocking the heart chakra, Realise the Right to love( and beloved)
Let go of the feeling of loss of love, by realising love will come back to you many times in many different forms. Find comfort in that realisation. There are many more fish in the sea right?

In case of lies blocking the Throat Chakra, realise the right to Truth.
Because of fear, guilt, shame and grief( that which can block the lower chakras) we are sometimes not honoust with ourselves. Uplift this by being intuitively honoust with yourself. Intuition knows the truth. Listen to it.

In case of Illusion blocking the Third Eye, Realise the right to see(things for what they are) You have the right to see the true nature of existance. Let go of seeking pleasure and instead prefer to seek truth. Use your undivided focussed attention. Keep fantasy, thoughts and opinions out of the way to percieve reality clearly, openly and truthfully to uplift the barrier of illusion.

In case of Earthly attatchment blocking the Crown Chakra, realise the right to understand/transcend. Realise that allthough earthly pleasures are precious, they come to an end and will have to make way for an equally precious non-material continuation of your existance. Let go of earthly pleasures by relativation, realising that what we will get in return holds equal value and potential.

I'm glad this thread came up again... I had lost it (got moved to Pranormal? Or did it start off in here?).

Anyway, I found out you can do the chanting very quietly, and it affects you more than just doing it in your head. I mean so quietly nobody can hear it unless they're in the same room. Pretty cool.

I'm glad I found this. I wanted to look into meditation. I want to discover my inner self more, and I would have liked to use LDing for it, but I don't have lucid dreams often enough to really intend to. So, I would like to try meditation.

I took that test someone mentioned in like the second post. Apparently my root chakra is under-active by -6%, and my crown by -25% xD

according to that survey on the second post, i have an over-active Third eye. i think thats pretty cool:meditate:

Also, this just in... the music in those videos caught my interest... I love the sound of the digeridoo to begin with, and it sounds like chanting the various tones for chakra healing. I looked into what's called Reiki music, but couldn't find anything that sounded as good as the music in the videos, so I searched for digeridoo music and ran across this: Tibetan Singing Bowl and Digeridoo. Actually I found it cheaper on iTunes, but not everybody has iTunes, so this is to Amazon. You can preview it on either. I have it downloading now.

Holy Crap!!!

I just finished a meditation/chakra healing session with this music on, and it's overwhelmingly powerful!!! My entire being is vibrating strongly from it, physically and spiritually. Plus I feel like I just did a couple hits of premium toke. Really great stuff!! I had iTunes visualizer on the whole time and at first I watched it... felt like Bowman in 2001... but after a while I closed my eyes and let the flickering colors play over my closed eyelids and filter through to my awareness. Powerful.

I have read that its always good to talk to yourself with affirmations, and not negativities... It has something to do with the law of attraction IMO... when you think about something... you're giving it power... even if its something you Don't want... Your subconscious doesn't recognize good from bad... So its always good to throw away any thought that won't bring good to you... don't give it power by thinking about it, not even in the slightest way... Allow only the good thoughts to go thru (whatever you consider good for yourself)...

I just took three different chakra tests online with different questions. Apparently my brow/third eye chakra is diseased! I had no idea! I knew I had a solar plexus problem, but now a brow chakra problem? Boooo :damnit:

Oh well, I guess diagnosis is the first step to healing?

I think the best self diagnosis is to simply find out what is blocking you. Grief? Shame? Guilt? Fear? etc etc... By being honoust with yourself, by analysing yourself objectively from your intuition you can find out the Root of these unresolved issues that result in Fear, Guilt, Shame and all these blocks.

The duality/blockade in every Chakra can be uplifted by the use of Relativation.
"zooming out" from your small, individual perspective and view your Fear, Grief, Shame..etc from a higher perspective. From where you can see the bigger picture.

From this higher, objective perspective you can see that the negative emotions of Fear, Shame, Guilt, Illusions..etc that appeared very huge and invincable to you before, now look only small and trivial. They no longer seem to weigh so heavy or bear so much importance. From this higher perspective they are just common human emotions.
And then these negative emotions that have been blocking you no longer seem so strong and threatening. From this high perspective they seem dwarfed by the intense suffering as well as intense pleasure/bliss going on in other parts of your being as well as in the bigger picture; the existance around you.

If from that higher, intuitive perspective you do so much as only shine the light of your attention uppon these emotional/spiritual blockades they will melt like snow in the sun, dissolve and be cleared/purged from your being.

Cause all this darkness/blockade really is is an under aware part of your being. Become aware of this part of your being and the darkness/unawareness/blockade present there will vanish.Like shining light into a dark room will make "quick work" of the darkness.

Has anybody tried Kundalini Yoga? as taught by Yogi Bhajan? I find that true to its claim, it is the most powerful tool for chkr clearing and development. I mean, you can really feel the effects very tangibly! I rave about it. It works better than any visualization alone does. It also works on the glands and brain chemistry and spinal fluid. There are instruction videos. Video.google kundalini yoga.
I am excited to go to a kundalini yoga festival in the spring! A little cult-like, sure, but it will be good for me to meet some like-minded people. I am all alone here.

Yeah, that is the video I started doing every morning. I found a class in town here once a week and I went to that and the first time I was SOOO sore for 5 days afterward, but I felt great! Sharp as a laser! It is great! There is a Kundalini Yoga festival here in May I am looking forward to. Maybe meet some cool people. Or some spaced out followers. But I will learn a lot.

I watched the whole vid, but I don't have enough room to push the chair back and do any floor work, so I did what I can right in my cHAIR LOL! Tried to make sure I didn't overdo it, cause I know I couldn't do the whole workout my first time.

Yeah, I was sore the next day anyway - especially my lower back, but dayum!! Talk about energy!! I haven't felt so energized in years, literally.

Has anyone here done chakra or energy work WITHIN a dream? The other day I was having trouble flying in my dream. I was so grounded and weighted down. But last night I was zipping around. I turned into a wasp, a bird and a harpie. I'm wondering if doing some yoga healing helped me to fly in my dream!

I just thought it would be helpful if the next time I'm grounded in a dream, I can just do some chakra healing and be flying fancy free. Question is, which chakra would that be?

Do all the chakras! Start doing kegels in the dream, raise the energy, you may even see a snake uncoinling and feel waves of undulating energy. The third chakra is good for psychic and astral travel, but I recommend for you the heart chakra. Of course the throat chakra is beautiful also, there you can find the halls of the akashic records. The third eye chakra you can connect with anybody in the Universe in any realm and the crown chakra goes to beyond dreaming. Do all the chakras, visualize them as a band of colored lights, you know: red, orange, yellow, green, lapis blue, indigo and violet, become a rainbow. Become a rainbow. Try vibrating also with differnt frequencies, vibrations really free up energy blockages. Even when doing yoga and holding a difficult pose I start vibrating and I know that energy blocks are being released.

I've been doing mindfulness meditation and chakra healing for a couple weeks now, and just got ahold of some binaural beats and theta wave music a few days ago. After meditating several times using the binaurals/ theta wave music, not surprisingly I found it brings me down to a completely deeper place than I was getting without it... completely, DEEPLY relaxed and sometimes my eyes start flickering like I'm going into REM.

But that's not what I wanted to post about exactly. Last night I decided I need to go back to regular mindfulness meditation without any music or sound... the traditional way in silence. Well, I found now that I've "been there" thanks to the binaurals, I'm able to rapidly bring myself to that same deep almost trance state WITHOUT it. It's really super-charged my progress... I feel like without the technological boost it would take maybe years to get to that level.

Last night... I did the mindfulness thing for only maybe 10 minutes and began to feel my crown chakra lighting up like a christmas tree! The top of my head started tingling hard... the only time I've ever felt anything similar is when I did acid.. I mean this was really getting intense!! I went with it... decided to assist it through visualization, picturing the thousand-petaled lotus blossoming endlessly at my crown chakra and then picturing an energy ball expanding from it outward into the vastness of the universe... imagine my "self" drifting up through the top of my head (now glowing brightly like a wide-angle spotlight into space) out between the stars.

Then I worked my way down. I normally start from the bottom, but since the crown chakra had started without me I just went with it. My chakras all opened like crazy... like I've never felt before! I became a rainbow bridge between earth and the heavens and felt powerful energy flowing between the two, through me.

I then tried something I red about somewhere recently... I imagined my inward breaths coming in through the crown chakra and the outward breaths going out through the third eye. The energy in both chakras kept getting more powerful... I've never felt anything remotely like this!

There came a natural cutoff point... I felt the energy level top off and start going down again, just before it reached a level that seemed like it might be getting to be too much. So I rapidly went through and closed each chakra... they responded better than they ever have (sometimes I have trouble visualizing them or feeling them). I could literally FEEL the energy level dropping off quickly at each point as I closed them, and when I finally closed the Crown, it was like I felt something click in my head and I felt absolutely FANTASTIC!!!

My energy level for the rest of the day (in fact still today, 24 hours later) was much higher than it usually is... I tend to be pretty low-energy, but now I'm alert and don't feel at all tired. My mind seem clearer... my memory sharper than it's been for some time.

This is just.... I can't even get across how awesome it is!! Sorry... I'm just excited and I'm babbling now. I can hardly wait to do it again... in fact I think I'll light up a stick of incense and go back in right now!! :sleepmeditate2:

I can already tell you my biggest block in chakras would be earthly attatchment. This is because I havnt experienced anything yet to suggest to me that I will have an immaterial existance. There have been nights where I get very little sleep because of my mind wrestling with the idea of my conciousness just ceasing to exist. Never to experience anything again. It grieves me deeply but I cant seem to help thinking about it.

On the flip side, I have always had an interest in chakras, I have the colors memorized, Ive tried energy work before (with the best results being tingling of my hands and feet) but despite this...those thoughts never leave me.

I really think this stuff is powerful... I have to thank you Darkmatters for the videos! I've only had the chance to see the first one but it helped me understand the chakras a lot more, and was much more engaging than reading walls of text upon the subject.

The first night I tried this it felt amazing. I imagined each chakra as a wispy flower, infused with whatever color the chakra was. I imagined each one blossoming, reaching out, and taking over my body, flowing out into the room. I could feel each chakra. Heat would gather there. I felt quite good after. But, unfortunately, I did have some trouble sleeping.

Ever since I have started doing this I've felt a lot more at peace with myself and my environment. I feel more motivated to do what I want and need to get done and to not waste time. I've also had a few more LDs, and I wonder if this is helping at all. I haven't had the chance to do anything deep unfortunately, but I will maybe use binaural beats or something when I get the chance.

I think my third eye might be blocked. I have trouble imagining it opening, when I do I feel as if I'm forcing it open. When I focus on it it almost hurts, as if my eyes are rolling around and pushing towards it. It also seems to focus farther, if that makes any sense. It feels like looking at something in the foreground up close and then switching the focus to the background.

That's a pretty awesome experience! What kind of binaural beats were you using? I've only listened to a few free ones. They didn't have any effect on me, that or I just need new headphones :cheeky:

I don''t think that would be a block in the way you're suggesting. There's no need to believe in an immortal soul or anything for chakra work to do you some good. It's not magic, and it doesn't rely on the power of blind faith to work... although just like lucid dreaming, your attitude and state of mind do affect it. I Notice if I'm tired I can hardly focus, and I can't hold focus on the chakras and I don't really get much from it on those days. Like anything that requires focus and attention, it will work better some days than others.

At one time if someone would have talked to me about chakra healing I would have felt the same way... like it's something that you have to "believe in". But it's not like that... it's more like an exercise, only mental rather than physical. Or mental AND physical actually.

Unless I misunderstand what you're saying.

I'd say just give it a try and see what happens. I wasn't really expecting anything to happen when I first started trying it, but I gave it a go and was surprised to actually feel something happening inside my body in response to where I focused my attention. And after I had done it for a while (a few days or a week) I started feeling it stronger... I guess like exercise you get better at it from practice.

You might want to take the chakra test to find out which ones are blocked and which might be overactive. Look at the 1st page of this thread... I think it's the second or third post, by SuperUltraMegaSupreme.

I found some through filesharing (Shhhh! :shadewink:)

I use the Theta ones... that gets you into the same state as hypnosis, dreaming or deep meditation, a very healing state. The best one I found is called Superlearning: subliminals, theta waves & piano by Kelly Howell with Robert Schwimmer. I think it's also necessary to assist it... you know the drill, shut off the internal dialogue, go into your happy place. Using incense helps me in a way I didn't anticipate. It actually reminds me of my stoner days and makes it easy to feel like I:m going into an altered state of consciousness. I actually feel like I'm getting high, and having the iTunes visualizer also helps with that.

I'll watch it for a while and just kind of zone out on all the pretty colors moving around, and then I'll close my eyes and let the flickering light filter through my eyelids. And after a few minutes, when I've started to zone pretty good, I:ll start doing the chakras, which gives my mind something to focus on so the internal dialogue doesn't even try to start up again.

I also found some freeware called Sbagen, which I think works on all platforms.

And while I:m typing all this up, might as well add... I've also been listening to a lot of chanting from around the world... gregorian, tibetan throat singing (awesome stuff!) and various others, as well as digeridoo and tibetan singing bowl music. All of the ones I just mentioned have a certain frequency of vibrato that takes you into the zone... probably theta wave level. Let me see if I can find the link for this rather incredible PDF file I read the other day dealing with binaurals and other forms of entrainment.

Pretty long paper, written by somebody from Stanford university who's also a drummer and began to discover that at times his drumming could produce a trance state, which led to his interest in binaurals and visual entrainment, called Photic entrainment, which does the same thing as the binaurals but with lights flashing in your eyes rather than sound. I found the whole paper fascinating, though the middle section listing all the scientific stuff is pretty dry and can be skipped over.

yea, you are misunderstanding me a bit. what I mean is looking at the other post, the crown chakra being open and "unblocked" makes you not feel bound to the earth. That shouldn't be a problem then. Earthly attachment is the function of the root chakra (I almost wrote this in the other post, but it was long enough already) - possibly you just have an overactive root chakra. The root is your anchor to the earth, and the crown is your portal to the universe. You should actually feel both at the same time.. anchored deep in the earth and open to the vastness of the universe. You don't need to worry about an overactive chakra... just try to work on the underactive ones and they should all balance out.

hmm so an over active root chakra could cause such spells of fear of death huh? I really hope it works to meditate on my crown chakra because I really cant stand those spells of wrestling with the paradox of imagining my consciousness disappearing.

Oh well, when you put it that way... I guess fear of death isn't caused by an overactive root chakra. I was going off of "earthly attachment".

So basically you're saying you suffer anxiety, and that might block the process? Yeah, that could be a problem. But just the meditation itself should help to alleviate anxiety to some extent.

ah, well in my mind while I was reading it fear of death and earthly attachment just made an automatic connection in my mind, I thought perhaps this was my intuition telling me something.

I did take that test. It said my crown and root chakra were underactive, however I have no problems feeling or opening them. I do remember having a bit difficulty with the root chakra the first time, but it's fine now. Now the only difficulty is the root chakra. I think I will try taking the test again.

I know exactly what you mean. I used to lay awake as a child pondering these things. I would think of the inevitabiltiy of death, and what then? I would wonder how my consciousness was me and not him or her or that? Why me? Why was I me? Other people will still exist after I die. The sun will still rise the day after I die, but what about me? Who am I?

Is this what you mean?

In this case, chakras are a neat theory, but that is all they are. It may be fascinating, but the thing that will do you good is to have an experience that transcends this physical body. You need to face death. Lay in bed next time it keeps you awake, and instead of worrying about it, pretend to die. Die as much as you can. Slow your breath down and shallower and shallower until you are barely breathing at all- just enough to not die for real. Your heart beat will slow down. If you itch or if you have to swallow just tell yourself that dead men don't scratch. This is hard to do when there are mosquitos.
Pretend to be dead and try not to think, but just watch yourself barely breathing. This is what I did as a child and this is how I first WILDed as a child and it literally changed my life or made me crazy! I didn't know that this also is Yoga technique. Any more relaxed and you would be dead. death is utter relaxation.

Then, AFTER you have done all that and you are lying there weigthless and bodiless, and you don't know what to do, then try visualising the crown chakra while super slow breathing.

Breathing affects consciousness. Change your breathing, change your consciousness. Face death, find out for yourself the mysteries of death.

A kundalini yoga exercise for destroying the ego and awakening beyond death and getting a transcendental state is to drop your forehead down towards your solar plexus while breathing out. Breath in sit back up. continue at a good pace with strong breathing. The third eye awareness in the forehead hammers and destroys the ego that dwells in the solar plexus.

Yogis of India go live in the graveyards where everyday people bring bodies in and the wild dogs eat them and they get burnt. Day after day week after week month after month these yogis meditate on death and come to terms with it.

My brother died. And when I found out I didn't know how to feel. My first reaction was "I knew it." But I would stay up at night and feel him there with me, but he wasn't. And through his death, I saw my own death, I looked death in the face. Death is a yawning void, but it is part of us while we live, it is all around us. Death is actually the deepest part of ourselves. the living part of us is pretty shallow. It is just bodily. Death is relaxation into our self so much that we are too relaxed to hold onto our body.

Here I go on and on about death again. (Slaps myself) Back on topic! Kundalini is life energy that rises through the chakras. The individual ego consciousness as a separate being alive in the body on this Earth is in the third chakra, use your third eye to dissolve that ego and then breathe in fire through the third chakra, breathe out light from your heart. This should heal that blockage.

wow I had to read that more than once to take in all the information there. It seems you are very passionate (or at least interested) in it. I have often thought myself that those kind of spiritual experiences would put my mind more at ease. Ive tried to do something like you described with the breathing before but never quite got it to work.

The closest Ive gotten is using one technique where you are suppose to mentally build an astral body of you and transfer your consciousness to it, but it has to be very detailed. However when I tried to do the consciousness transfer I suddenly got intense pains in my stomach, so strong it forced me to cringe. I checked the site after and right there in a later message it warned that that could happen if the body wasnt detailed enough. Thats the closest Ive come to anything pertaining to spirit being tangible. I guess I will need to try more.

OK, I guess what I'm trying to say is that I think that first you should forget all about this esoteric chakra yoga kundalini mumbo jumbo and just confront your consciousness and fear of death face to face without any distractions. Don't try to rise up in an 'astral body'. Don't try to find life after death or a life beyond the body. These are all heresay and secondhand knowledge. You need to know your own naked consciousness before you start messing around with pretty theories of chakras. Chakras are theoretical to you. Consciousness is an undeniable fact, a reality. Without firsthand knowledge of consciousness chakras are useless.
Don't try to find your immortal soul. There may not be such a thing. There may not be a life after death. These are all psychological tricks to avoid facing death. I was saying: Die! Totally! No tricks, no distractions, no beliefs, no hopes, no fantasies. Just let yourself be absorbed into the total negative state. Let yourself be afraid and don't avoid the fear, don't try to escape. Face reality. face the inevitable. Let your body die, let your mind die. You may not find an answer, there may not be an answer, but experience the mystery. Death is a mystery to be lived, not a puzzle to be solved.
The technique I shared worked for me, it may not work for you. But I discovered it on my own when I was 8 or 10 years oldbefore I ever heard of yoga or meditation and that is how I had my first WILD that totally changed my life or made me crazy - you decide. You need to discover your own method that works. If it doesn't work, try harder, keep trying, or switch to another method. But the method is to be found in your own naked consciousness. That is where life and death happen. Then, when you have explored your own consciousness inside and out then chakra work will grow out of that.

Just one thing I can think of to add. tkdyo, you've spent a LOT more time in non-existence than in this short little life. Billions and billions of years... basically an eternity. Did it hurt? Did it suck in any way?

How could it? Not existing means no suffering (but of course no joy too).

Darkmatters...I know what you mean, that it wont actually hurt even if I just cease to exist. I think one of the major sorrows I feel though is just that...no more feeling. Especially not being able to see the world continue to evolve and change. Seeing the world continue to change and experiencing the 5 senses in this world are the greatest of joys. I actually remembered when this all started. It was last summer, I was laying back in my car with the windows rolled down, watching and hearing the leaves move in the tree above me and suddenly the thought popped in my head "some day, I will never be able to experience this again" :(

That's a very hardcore atheist/ materialist belief, that only a small segment of modern people believe in. Personally, even as a confirmed atheist (until very recently... I might have to update that to agnostic pretty soon) I believe we all live again and again and again.

Not according to any particular religious idea of reincarnation... I don't believe the memories pass on, or personality traits or anything... I just think 'you' will rise again, as a totally different person, after you're dead. My idea is totally aligned with scientific knowledge about life.... a developing fetus forms in a womb somewhere, and through some process that we're unaware of, it becomes conscious. Why couldn't one of the billions of new consciousnesses that come into existence after your current one dies be a completely new 'you'?

I really find this belief attractive to me. I actually really considered this to be true for a while. Of course it can't be proven, but since we originally might have been nothing that was created into consciousness...why can't that happen again with all of the "new" consciousness born into existence that happens on a daily basis?

The idea that when we die our awareness just goes black never to rise again also can't be proven. Science really can't even speculate on it. Somehow though our modern materialist worldview tends to lead to a very existential and rather depressing concept concerning death. But I think that version of materialism is itself old-fashioned now, and slowly giving way to a more open-minded outlook that's less dark and morbid.

It is not meant to comfort or console you. That is the job of the priest. If your child dies the priest will tell you "It is OK, God works in mysterious ways. Your child is in Heaven now with God. All children go to Heaven." Or "Your child has great karma and will be reborn into the realm of the Gods." He is just consoling you. But to know the truth takes courage, and to know the truth you have to face death with no consolations. Without knowing if you come through it or not. And even if another is telling you the truth, it isn't "your" truth unless you know for yourself from your own experience.

But if you only want to be consoled then think about this:

1. You are aware
2. Others are also aware
3. You will die
4. Others will die
5. Others will be born
6. Awareness will continue to exist as long as there is life
7. If awareness exists, it will be you. This is hard to describe. Try to understand: If the awareness that exists is not you, then it is separate from you. If it is separate from you, you exist in relation to it. Awareness is always in the first person (as in verb conjugation and pronouns). If your 'I' does not exist, somebody else's I exists, and that 'I' is 'I'. There is only one 'I' but many egos.

My understanding is like this: You can keep peeling layers off an onion, until you come to the last layer. When you peel the last layer away and throw it away, what is left?
Answer: The whole Universe. But you can't hold onto any layers if you want to survive. That is the paradox. You got to die totally. You have to let the innermost core of you die in order to be reborn. Because a butterfly is not a flying caterpillar.

Everybody is a dewdrop that reflects the sun in it. If you look into any dewdrop you will see the whole sun reflected there. But really there is only one sun, and that dewdrop will evaporate along with its reflection of the sun. But only the real sun will continue to exist. In fact, only the Real Sun ever existed in the first place. The same is true with us. Our individual conscious selves are an illusion. Consciousness is not private property, it is not real estate. Consciousness does not belong to you or to me. We are very complex organic robots. We have no souls, but we have a brain that thinks thoughts that give the illusion of a separate self. What we call consciousness we feel to be localized in our heads or at best in our hearts, but in fact this field of consciousness exists everywhere. That is how and why we can share dreams. There is consciousness in every point of space. But not every point of space has a brain, but we do. Maybe someday even a computer may become self-aware just like us. We are organic robots. If we look inside us to see the 'I' we see the ego which is our own reflection of the one Self. But if we look at where this self comes from, our gross consciousness that is dependent on the brain is really a reflection of the one consciousness that exists beyond time and space, or as Terence McKenna calls it: "The Transcendental Object at the End of Time". We will die, and unless we die totally, we will not awaken as the ONE. This ONE is out through the crown chakra.
That is why it is advised that when you die you leave through the crown chakra. This practice is called 'Phowa' (Poe-wa) in Tibetan. When the Chinese invaded Tibet and killed millions of people, many monks just shot themselves out their crown chakras before the soldiers could kill them.
There is some books that tell how to practice this, but this is something you definately would need a teacher for. However, it is one of the most widespread Tibetan teachings that even lay people practice. You will know when you have learned it when a drop of blood forms on the top of your head.

I know this is a little late, and the thread may be a little dead, but I couldn't help but comment. Ever since I've started focusing on my chakras, I've been more aware in everything, and having a LOT more LDs.

I also tried dream meditation one time. It was an amazing experience. Heres the quote from my DJ if you're interested:

"I gave up on that. I knew the dream was going to end soon, and I didn't want to waste it. Hurriedly I thought of something to do. I sat down and tried to meditate on my third eye chakra.

I can tell you now it was the most odd and amazing experience ever. I felt my third eye sort of burst. I saw many colors and odd things, sort of like HH. Then I saw a human eye, brown, just gazing at me. I saw a few more things, but I can't remember. As this was happening, I felt my body "lift", as if I was being sucked into the chakra. I was wondering the whole time if I was going to Astral Projection? Could it really happen? I felt so glorious and at peace.

Then something tugged at me. It was time for me to wake up. I felt myself feel numb and fuzzy as my dream body was sucked into my physical one.

- Ever since this dream, my third eye chakra has been extremely easy to open (whereas before it would not open). It also does not hurt like it used to; it actually physically hurt before when I concentrated on it. This is the power of dream meditation!"

That's awesome ReachingDream! I've been wanting to meditate in a lucid, especially work on my chakras, I always forget though :?. I've been having trouble with my crown chakra too. So do you think if I open it up in the dream, it'll be easier in the waking?

Somehow what is missing in many spiritual/Karmic purity orientated religious movements is the Dark side of (both physical and immaterial/divine) existance.

Many religious doctrine following people taboo, avoid and surpress anything related to the darkness, Satan, Yang..etc

In many other religious/filosophical traditions/ideologies (such as Taoism, The Maya and Aztec people's Religions, Pre-christian Celtic, Germanic, Viking and other pre-monotheistic middle eastern, asian, african and european religions) the Darkness/Evil/Destructive side of existance is not hated, taboo'd or avoided but in fact the darkness is also appreciated for it's creative properties( By destroying and disturbing existance it constantly creates new impulses and space for new forms and existance to be created by the Creative forces)

In Tao ism, Buddhism, Maya/Aztec religion and in Zoroastrianism this is represented by a Dark energy/Deity and a Light Force/Deity.
In Taosim and Buddhism Yin and Yang(Push and Pull), In Zoroastrianism The Creative Principle and the Destructive Principle, In Aztec mythology the deities Quetzalcoatl and Tezcatlipoca. In many other ancient culture's mythologies there is mention of 2 forces, the Creative Light Deity/force and the Destructive Dark Deity/force comming together to create the universe.

So to say in these religions/ideologies the creation of all existance is percieved to have originated, and continually throughout time originate from a phenomenal play between Creation/Light and Destruction/Darkness.

This is what lacks in todays monotheistic religions. These religions rather choose to percieve creation of all existance to have originated from the Forces of light/Creation(or God, Allah, Jah, Jahweh, Krishna..etc) only without the help of the Forces of Darkness/Destruction. In fact they see the forces of Darkness/Destruction as merely an obstacle and plague to the creation of the forces of light/creation.

The fail to see the value of Satan/Tezcatlipoca/Yang/Destruction/Darkness in the ever ongoing process of creation of existance. Instead they taboo it, avoid it, fight it, opress it.





Allthough I enjoy such deep contemplation I would like to return to gathering more practical methods of chakra healing.

Reiki is effective for chakra balancing.

So do you know any practical chakra balancing reiki methods that anyone could do to themselves?

Interesting thread. I've been trying chakra meditation for the last two days. I worked with the root chakra and then gave both root and sacral one a try today as well. I was able to visualize much better today than the previous day since I reflected on what I could have done better in order to improve the techniques. What I do is try to imagine a closed flower(closed green bud with some red, orange, etc.... from its middle) and then open it. Once it's open, I rotate it clockwise rapidly until it forms an energy ball of red, orange, etc.... Today, I decided to add some lightning within the ball since I can do that pretty easily and should help with the visualization. My three main concerns are this:
a) When visualizing, I try to imagine that I am observing myself meditate and then I focus on where the chakras are supposed to be located and do the above visualization. I find this a bit difficult in some cases and my visualizations wonder, as in I can see the bud then I'll see the flower than half a bud all within the span of a couple of seconds, kinda like it's unstabilized. How do you guys deal with this or am I the only one that gets this?
b) In terms of closing them, usually I visualize the reversal, so, the ball slows down, becomes a flower and then goes back into a bud at which point I try to stop my meditation immediately to avoid reopening them. Am I supposed to take my time in closing them and would it be harmful to close them quickly? Should I stop saying the chant when closing them and at which point? Also, what are the problems with keeping them open? Do you get drained of energy if they are left open, since, we are dealing with energy here?
c) I've been looking at that chakra website and have been trying to follow the ways the hands are done along with the chant, etc.... is that really necessary(the hands part) or can I just keep them the same way(like in the root chakra one) and do the chant?

I wish I could, but I'm still new to all of this :(. I don't even know why you need to close a chakra. Maybe that's important if you're some guru and you don't want your chakra blasting open all day long. But for a newbie like me? I'm not even sure I get them fully opened to begin with and closing them seems counterproductive to what I'm trying to do!

np, I'm new to this as well which is why I asked so many questions. I understand what you mean about opening then closing them. I mean I think the idea is to develop them but I'm not sure how that works. I am also confused whether I am really opening them because I don't feel anything at all to indicate that I opened them, same with closing them :P

The important thing is to gain first-hand experience rather than repeating a technique that you don't understand. The techniques were made by humans just like you. You can make up your own technique that works best for you. I think that in order to get a first-hand experience I needed to get very in touch with my body, by doing yoga and deep breathing, etc. Actually, deep, rapid, and smooth breathing is great. Instead of visualizing right away, try using your feeling sense. Try to feel your core. Try to feel the central core of your body right in front of your spine. breathe in strongly energy up from the Earth through the central channel to the top of head. Breath out a fountain from the top of your head that falls back down to the Earth. Just experiment and find what is fun for you. Try adding visualization when you feel more confident. Don't worry about if you are just imagining results at first, just have fun experimenting. Eventually you will get deeper and deeper into it and IT will teach you what you need to know. Let your own Kundalini teach you. Eventually you will need to develop stronger and more stable concentration to hold the subtler energies of the higher chakras.
I never tried closing them, I don't know why one would. Maybe that is why I am so crazy. I feel that the aura itself will protect me from any threat. A strong aura is like a strong immune system. If anyone or thing wanted to get your energy or enter your energy field it would go through the solar plexus chakra, so make sure that one is strong. Or cover it with your hand if you feel someone is trying to get their "hooks" into you. Visualize your aura having a strong, flexible, transparent shell around it when in doubt.

Also, I never visualized flowers. I just visualize dots of colored light, that is what works for me, flowers don't, but that is up to every individual.

I'm not surprised, I'm often anxious and have negative thoughts a lot.

High frequency vibrations seem to loosen up barriers in chakras. Hence the overtone chanting. The vibrations of your chant can be directed through the body/chakra "collumn" by altering your Tone, Pitch, Shape of mouth and tongue, lung pressure..etc

I was thinking: Could it be possible to use overtone sounds ( either digitally self-produced, recorded or sampled from a monk chanting ) played through relatively small, but quite powerfull speakers to loosen up chakra barriers?
If one such speaker was attatched to a long cable, plugged into an amplifyer, which in turn is plugged into an Ipod or a PC that contains the overtone sound file, the speaker could be held against each chakra individually while playing the overtone MP3 nonstop in order to see if the overtone vibrations can loosen up musculair tightness and Spiritual chakra barriers ( as these 2 are connected )this way.

Sounds like an interresting, not too complicated experiment to perform. I guess it would be best to make the speaker much like an oversized Mono headphone, with a cushion around the speaker so you can push it against your body in a way that no sound escapes and all vibrations will be directed into your body, into the chakra you chose to loosen up.

I remember this thread. I got really excited because I thought maybe chakra healing could fix my back and shoulder pain. And then never did anything about it really. Yoga's probably better for that anyway.

Try taking cold showers, Heard they really help you produce a lot of chi (prana) and clean your chakras. I've personally tried them and they will make you feel relaxed and powerful at the same time.

You could also try the deer exercise, It could definitely help you channel energy up your spine and through your chakras.
