Your Aura & Your Chakras by Karla McLauren

I'm in the process of reading this book, and I got to page 7 where it says:

"The real warning is this: don't go any further if you want to stay where you are. It is a very dangerous thing to undertake a spiritual journey if you have no intention of ever getting anywhere."

Can someone who has read this book or knows anything on the subject explain this to me?

Dangerous how? What qualifies as "getting somewhere" ?

I haven't read it, but the first part sounds to me that, if you're a little frighten by achieving saaaay, astral projection, then don't try it until you're ready... only do the things you feel comfortable with... If something smells fishy or you're just not comfortable with it... don't do it... In my opinion, astral world and dream world are a very subjective place, so if you fear saaaay getting lost and never being able to find your way back... you probably will... cause you feared it.. you believed in it... so unless you're confident about what you're doing, don't go experimenting crazy stuff...

on the second part, I wouldn't take it so literal... getting somewhere... liiiike, when you go out on a walk... and you don't really have a destination, and you just start taking different paths, without even knowing where you're at or where you going... you'll get lost and confused... same in the astral or dream worlds...

This doesn't necessarily mean that everytime you go out you need to have a destination, cause if this was the case, you would never get to know new places, I think it means more like, be aware of where you're going, like if you start exploring just make sure you don't forget your way back...

      Just a thought

      I really appreciate that.

I never ever plan on attempting astral projection.

I just want to lucid dream and develop psychic abilities such as reading auras.

The only thing you'd have to fear is yourself. The ego is our only enemy. If a spiritual journey goes "wrong" it is allways because the ego seeks to control it.

Because some of the perceptions that the Ego decides are undesirable are surpressed and blocked by it. In deep spiritual experiences such blocks could lead to spiritual trauma leading to some degree of insanity (earthly detatchment/wandering restless mind, extreme introversion, immobilising blockades of shame, fear, guilt, illusions, grief, lies(to oneself) and a rebound to extreme earthly attatchment)

Therefor it is very important in such trascendental spiritual experiences to ignore the impulses of the Ego to embrace certain perceptions, but to refuse other certain perceptions. Do not get tempted by your Ego to seek control in such spiritual experiences or it might mislead you into a nasty "place"( read state of consciousness). Instead keep your Ego out of the way, let whatever happens to you happen to you and pay close attention. Use Consciousness to percieve and remember your spiritual experiences and make sure your Ego does not get in the way. Ignore it and let it not influence your behaviour. Not in everyday life and CERTAINLY not in spiritual experiences.

not to overestimate the Value of our Concrete Knowledge;"Common sense"/Rationality,
for doing so would make us Blind for the unimaginable, unparalleled Capacity of and Wisdom contained within our Felt Knowledge;Subconscious Intuition.

Oh wow... you couldn't be more right...

I have been having this problem... I just barely discovered it couple of months ago... I've notice how my own mind sabotages every single thing I try to do... and it keeps me attach to the past... I've done a looot of thinking lately trying to fix the mess I have created to myself... I trained my mind to think in a way that was very distructive and I didn't even realize what I was doing... now I've finally discovered the mistake. But, its very hard to change the way you've been thinking for 20 years and just make your mind stop....

But I know its the only way,... to stop the ego from butting in every time...

I've also noticed, that my mind does not do this with bad intentions... It actually does it seeking my own good... it just has the wrong idea of what is good for me...
I don't want to be attached to the past anymore...

You seem to know what you're talking about, so please let me know where you got the info! pleeeeeeeeease!!!
