HI... my name is Joel , i heard about Lucid Dreams 2 weeks ago and i immediately started working to have LD's... first i just googled random sites to get the basics, 2 days passed and i got a LD by DILD and it was amazing . My motivation grew and then zoth told me about DV so i joined the site, i think now i know most inductions techniques ... i use MILD before sleeping and WILD after every WBTB beyond that i use RC's , ADA and of course the DJ but unfortunately i didn't have more LDs until now.
My mantra for MILD is : " I remember i'm in a dream!"
My anchor for WILD is : counting breaths
I feel i'm failing i don't understand if i am just too eager or doing something wrong.

Congrats on your quick success. I get the falling/spinning sensation when attempting WILD as well. It always brings me out of it. :/

Yes i understand... WILD is more complicated then i thougth , when i'm with good concentration i can't fall asleep ...when i'm falling asleep well i lose count of my breaths and lose my consciousness :S
My dream recall is getting better, last night i remembered 5 dreams very well but that is not enough for me... i really would like to master WILD, maybe i need a new anchor or maybe i'm not getting up enough time in the WBTB ...Can someone please try and hellp me ?

Reality Checks:
-looking at my hands, if they are stable.
-Checking my watch twice - looking for similar times and clear watch numbers.
-Looking around. Is everything in normal. Could all of these things happen in the real world?
-Thinking for a while. How do I get here?

Dream Signs:
-College mates
-Mother
-Fighting

Short-Term Goals:
-do at least 30 well done reality checks a day.
-recall at least 3 dreams/day
-have a Lucid dream for the seconed time and make it longer

Long-Term Goals:
-Enhance self awarness in daily life.
-Exploring the dream world with control capacity
-Discovery of something completly new

Hi Joel, great start on your workbook :)

Solid reality checks, thinking about how I got somewhere has helped trigger a few of my DILDs. I'm a big fan of the Nose plug RC, pretty easy way to confirm when you're in a dream that I find to be effective.

I like your list of short and long term goals, very reasonable and attainable. That seems like a lot of reality checks to remember, do you usually remember do RC that many times? Impressive.

Hi PennyRoyal ;) ... i try to do as many RC's as i can possible can remember, i forced my self for some time to do them and after awhile i developed a kind of " instinctive trigger" , so now most of the time wherever i am i feel this kind of rush and the question pop's up in my head " Am i Dreaming?" but on the other side i'm not being very successful despite my improvement in my Dream recall i steel never asked this question on a dream so maybe i'm using the right techniques but not as i should... i would like some help about that .

That sounds pretty good, the quantity of reality checks I would say are irrelevant - it's 'quality' that you are shooting for. If you remember that you are supposed to RC, plug your nose to check and move about your day -- it isn't going to be nearly as effective as really stopping and questioning whether or not you are in the dream or waking state. It's that moment of genuine curiousity and wonder that's the whole point. Imagine being in a dream and you RC 'just because' -- you just breathed through a plugged nose.. but because you didn't ask yourself that critical question, "Dream You" simply rationalizes the oddity and you move on.

It sounds like you have that part hammered down though, just stay consistent and I'm sure the results will follow. You can be doing the techniques 100% correct, sometimes you just need some time for it to 'click'

I have to admit tha not all of my RC's have my full atention but in most of them i try to have a real doubt about if i'm dreaming or not...i'm not shore if i use my mantras properly because sometimes i just repeat them a lot.

When it comes down to it, mantra IS just repeating something to yourself. Just make sure you aren't repeating empty words to yourself. Make sure the words have meaning when you tell yourself and you'll be golden.

When I go to bed at night and use mantra, if I use "I will have a lucid dream" or something similar for example. I try to get myself pumped and excited for the possible lucid dreams to come. I try to remember how excited I'd get the night before Christmas or my Birthday as a kid and try to channel that excitement for lucid dreaming.

Remember, when you tell yourself that you can do something - BELIEVE It.

That is great advice and i will follow it ... my dream recall is starting to become very good , i can now remember 5 dreams for 3 straight nights but no LD yet ... I have been experimenting WILD ,i think my timing is right , i always wake up naturaly after 4 h of sleep then i try to remember what i dreamed about and i write it down after that i go to bed and relax. When i'm relaxed i start counting my breaths and visualize the number , i try to focus just in my breathing and the numbers in my head but when i reach the breath 400 i give up because nothing is happening, nothing at all . Am i giving up to soon ? is my anchor a good one ?

When you sleep, you go through 'cycles'. Each cycle lasts about 90 minutes. There are different kinds of 'sleep' you go through.

NREM - There are several stages of NREM sleep, Dreams don't typically occur during this period - and If they do they are usually "low quality"
After you get through the NREM part of the cycle, then you enter REM. REM is what you're shooting for.

The longer that you sleep the shorter the NREM periods become, making it easier to catch the REM cycle.

I've seen it most commonly recommended to shoot for WILD after about 4.5-6 hours of sleep.

Your WILD technique seems pretty solid. As you probably know, the trick is to retain a small amount of awareness as you fall asleep in order to transition into a dream. One of the best ways to make it easier is to be tired when you go to sleep. Make sure your eyes aren't exposed to any light when you perform your wbtb, and when you go to bed, just go to sleep with the anchor in the back of your mind. Being too focused, or too awake tends to give people difficulty with going back to sleep so those things might help. You can also just focus on your breath if counting creates too much focus. Good luck!

Thanks a lot Chimpertainment... i will try that, but what happens to me is that if i'm focus i don't fall asleep and if i try to make my awereness as small i can i fall asleep , how can i be aware and fall asleep ...? this aspect of WILD is very hard to me .

Yeah, i know what you mean. I have the same problems. First, you dont need to keep counting until you fall asleep. Instead, it can be better to count or use whatever anchor is chosen just until that focused inner awareness is produced. Then you can relax, fall asleep, and that increased awareness will help carry you through the transition.
Another thing you could do is try a different anchor. Some external white noise like a fan is helpful for many people. Any consistent sound usually works.
Lastly, you could try some variations of wild like fild or ssild.
Once you do a couple wilds, it should get easier to figure out what will work for you.

I will try that, i know FILD but i'm not familiar with SSILD so i shall look that up.

I'm currently doing meditation , don't really noticed any advantages until now but i heard is good for concentration and self- awareness so i will keep doing it. About the external white noise... are you refering to binaural beats or something like that?

I would like to talk about two similar episodes that happen to me , they are basicly the same ... I have like a 10 seconds dream about myself doing a RC, in this case was the pinching the nose one, well what happens it's obvious , i can breath with my nose closed...so i realise i'm dreaming but i immediately wake up . The thing is that in those two dreams , they are in the collapse stage but i'm steel in the dream, my theory is that because the dream is faiding some of my consciousness kicks in , despite my theory i would like your opinion on the matter .

Hi guys ... i had my first WILD induced LD... it was short but awesome ... the description is below ...

Background

I just woke up from the previous dream , i preform a RC and i'm awake, i look at the time and is 5:00 am ... i have to get up at 6:30 so i think is not a good idea to get up to do the WBTB... i decide to sit in the bed and write my dream in my phone and then casually try to WILD because i have to get up soon so i need to sleep some more...i lay down and start to counting my breaths, soon enough i stop counting and just focus in my breathing, a little beat later my consciousness gets concentrated in this idea... " The next time a dream forms it self in front of my eyes i will wait and remain aware!"...i remember being really determined about this...
First i think i hear my little sister in my room but i know it could be an hallucination (it was)... then i feel some one trying to get in the bed... someone small so again i think is mi little sister but i know it could be an hallucination (it was) so i stay putt and wait , if i feel someone touches me is probably my little sister.

After this random images start crossing my vision, and i hear a voice asking me " What is the girl you want me to make appear for you? " ... after this i'm in a dream...

Dream

I'm fully aware i'm in a dream... i'm lying on a short wall ... the previous voice becomes a woman, a burlesque dancer, after i could respond to her question my mind took care of it ... a image of a girl appears like a photo in a wall in the right side of the dancer( is a girl that goes to the same college i do, she used to sit near me on the bus).

At this point i didn't move because i feel the dream is not very stable so i wait...the dancer starts dancing in a weird way, she is dancing in front of a door and the dance is like a ritual to summon the girl, really soon another burlesque dancer appears and joins her in the dance(they both were wearing purple clothing).

Now i feel the dream is more stable so i do the hand RC... AND DAMN... i have midget fingers, yes fingers not hands just the fingers ( AWESOME XD ) ... i stop a second and touch the concrete wall and feel it, is so real.... after this the dream starts fading and i wake up.

Notes

It was an amazing experience as i thought it would be ... now that i succeeded at WILD once i just want do do it better. I really need to start stabilizing right at the beginning.

Congrats on the lucid! :)

As time passes, your lucidity will grow stronger, and it looks like it has already gone a long ways! Try to remember that experience and how it felt to become lucid. Familiarity with being lucid helps tremendously in future lucid adventures. :)

Well, this is some good news , i had another LD two days after :D

Background

I naturally wake up at 4:00 am , I get up and then write down the previous dream, go to the bathroom and go to the kitchen to have a glass of water. I lay down on my back and prepare myself to WILD , i start counting my breaths as i usually do and i wait until the rollover signals are very strong , when they are i turn over to my side and stop counting, i just get focus on my breathing .

After this comes the weird part... i suddenly am in a dream with but i'm didn't felt any HI or hallucination that's why i think it was DILD and not WILD because as fast as the dream began i remember i was trying to WILD (in the dream ) so i do the nose plug RC and i can breath through ...

Dream

I'm near my aunt's house, in Pousa ( is my village, where i'm from, i don't live there anymore ), I'm walking down a narrow path which is made of pavement and sand as soon i'm finished doing the RC and confirming i'm dreaming i start levitating , i know is because i'm too excited so i start controlling my breaths and i go down again , just to test a different RC i look to my hands and they are perfectly normal ... i continue to walk down the path and i get to the main road ... i know this place really well because i used to play here as a child, in my right is a Coffey place that i know as well.

I look to the other side of the road and 3 really hot girls are passing by, i call one of them but she says no with her head ( " even in dreams this happens to me XD" I thought ), i cross the road and a pretty woman is there holding a big box in her hands. I grab her arm and cross the road again ... when i get to the other side i take her clothes off but then the weirdest thing happens... she transforms into a little girl ... i panic and wake up .

Not every WILD experience will include Hypnagogic hallucinations. That stage can be a good way to see where you are at in the transition process or play with creating a scene; however, many WILDs just go straight into a dream. Good news is you pulled it off without a hitch!

Awesome job snagging that lucid only a few days later man, awesome work.

Most of my WILD/DEILD transitions involve some kind of hallucinations, but not all of them. Sometimes I'll just be focusing on whatever it is I'm using to keep my mind occupied, then BAM. I'm staring at the sky, or my bedroom. If it was a WILD, like Chimp said you pulled it off without a hitch.. Nice job

Well in this case if Chimpertainment is right i think it was a WILD because i did the RC just to verify if i was in a dream i already knew it because as soon the dream started i could remember me attempting to WILD . I had one more LD and once more i think was WILD , the dream is in my DJ here in DV, i think this is happening because of the increasing awareness i'm developing , the RRC's from Sageous are helping. I suppose i was expecting some more "violence" in the transition to the dream .

Nice man, pumping them out. Keeping up with awareness/reality checks during the day is something that I'm poor at. I need to make a better effort on that front.

Intense imagery/hallucinations can be interesting, but having a lucid dream is the end goal - at least for me. As long as you are enjoying yourself :)
